But there is another option, secession.
Secession has long been the last peaceful choice of a people who believe that they can no longer tolerate the government that rules over them. History is replete with examples of secession as one group or region declared their independence from their parent country.
Our very own country seceded from Great Britain when the tyranny they were experiencing was but a tiny fraction of what we have shoved down our throats on a daily basis. Our founding fathers rebelled and declared that they were no longer a part of their mother country when taxes were less than 5%.
Government taxes and regulations now costs us about 50 to 60% of our pay, yet we do practically nothing. Sure we protest and write our congressmen who turn around and laugh at us and call us names. Hell, they are so bold that they don't even bother to hid their contempt for us!
We rant and we rave and yet, we are nothing more than the sheeple that have allowed this country to come to this.
Lovers of freedom, the time has come to abandon the sinking ship that was once the great nation of the United States of America and form a new union. One that holds up the ideals that our founding fathers envisioned, but without the mistakes they made. Our forefathers thought that if they just named the things that the federal government could do it would be enough. However, we have seen the Constitution shredded as the federal government seeks more and more control of our lives to the point that now they believe that there is literally no limit to their powers. Pelosi mocked a reporter who asked her where in the Constitution it authorized Congress to force people to buy health insurance by saying, "Are you serious?" She might as well have said, "F%$# the Constitution! We haven't followed it in my lifetime, fool!"
So, as of this time, I will make it my mission to lobby my state representatives and senators to secede from the United States and form a new country with a constitution that not only lists what the government can do, but what it can't do. Not only a new Bill of Rights, but a section that tells the people that they have NO right to not be offended. That they have NO right to money from the pockets of another. That the unborn have just as much rights as the born. And other "no rights" yet to be listed. There must be term limits on ALL political offices. That politicians may take money from whatever source they want, but it must be published openly and that politician may not introduce a bill, vote for a bill, amend a bill, or attempt to influence others to vote for a bill that they have ANY monetary interest in.
When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
Freedom lovers, it is time.
Have people been asleep? We already had secession in the United States. Once we started using the Constitution as toilet paper, we had seceded.
Here in Texas, the goal for us conservatives is to re-join the Constitution as it IS written, unfortunately - we’ll likely have to go it alone (or with a small group of other states), rather than bringing the entire country back to the document.
I wouldn’t call if overthrowing the Constitution, more like enforceing it.
I am not suggesting that we revolt against the US. I am only suggesting that we peaceably leave.
Overthrowing the Constitution is what Pelosi, Reid, Obama, et al have in mind. If we allow this tyranny to stand that’s exactly what they will have accomplished.
Resistance to tyranny is defense of the constitution! Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God!!
Patrick Henry would have it no other way! Give me Liberty or give me Death!!

Should this constitution nullifying bill become the law of the land, then this government will have become destructive of these ends! God help us all, but this tyranny cannot be allowed to stand!!

The last time this was tried was not in the 1700’s but in 1800’s and the people who seceded were forced back into the Union.
As we have seen in Eastern Europe and elsewhere, if enough people loose faith in a system of government, their non-cooperation with that government will bring it down.
That's how I see it. We want to preserve the constitution we have always enjoyed, not overthrow it.

That's from "Atlas Shrugged", isn't it? I haven't read that book yet, so I can't answer your question.
As we have seen in this country in the 1860’s that doesn’t work here. We ended up with a Civil War or as my family calls it the War of Northern Aggression. We, in the South went through HELL during that period.
We set up our own government, we had our own Constitution, we had our own Capital but to no avail. I don’t want to see this country torn up by Civil War and strife now, especially since we have an enemy within and need to do something there first. We need to pull together and not apart otherwise they will win. We have the Moors on our doorstep and they are knocking, they are already here and we don’t have an EL CID to overthrow them.
Right now, at this time, we cannot be divided. A country divided against itself cannot stand and that is what they are counting on. The incident of the past week is only a taste of things to come if we Americans don’t stand together and fight the common enemy.
We are already divided. We are divided by producers and takers and the takers are dangerously close to outnumbering the producers. Our leaders have operated outside of the Constitution for so long that they now believe that they can do literally ANYTHING and there isn’t a damned thing you can do about it.
I think it was Boxer who said, “If I could get 51 votes in the Senate, I would take away every one of them [guns]”, despite the fact that the 2nd Amendment specifically protects the rights of the people to KABA and the 4th Amendment protection against unlawful search and seizure and the 5th Amendment protection against seizure without recompense and due process.
