Dark secrets of AARP finally exposed to light Executives, employees backed Obama, Dems by 14-to-1 ratio Posted: November 10, 2009

By Chelsea Schilling © 2009 WorldNetDaily

When the American Association of Retired Persons – one of the wealthiest advocacy groups in the U.S. – began backing the $1.2 trillion House health bill despite concerns about Medicare cuts, death panels and assisted suicide, many members shredded their membership cards, saying the organization no longer represents their interests – but AARP's history of left-leaning activism on a host of issues may surprise its constituents.

AARP's Nov. 5 health bill endorsement left many seniors wondering why the powerful group that claims to represent their interests would call for an estimated $500 billion in cuts to Medicare, a system many seniors have indicated that they would like to preserve.

"After carefully monitoring developments in Washington and studying the various legislative proposals, AARP's all-volunteer Board of Directors – made up of working and retired doctors, nurses, business people, and teachers – has decided to endorse the Affordable Health Care for America Act (H.R. 3962/H.R. 3961) because it delivers on key priorities we've been fighting for," an AARP announcement stated.

But while many seniors enjoy AARP membership discounts on health and car insurance, vacations and advice on financial planning, the group has a history of left-leaning political stances and activism.

Why the AARP health 'reform' endorsement?

AARP collects royalties on "Medigap insurance," a privately purchased insurance coverage that helps pay some of the health-care costs that Medicare doesn't cover.

However, seniors have the option of joining Medicare Advantage plans, allowing them to use Medicare funds to purchase private insurance plans that offer extra benefits and lower copayments than the Original Medicare Plan. An estimated 10.2 million seniors have enrolled in Medicare Advantage.

Anything I receive from America’s Association of Raspy Partisans goes into the trash (with personal stuff in the shredder).

Before they started making rumblings about jumping in bed with 0bama, I’d considered joining them. No damn way will I ever associate with them now.

I have just received the first of many I suppose AARP sign up mailings this week. I know it will do no good but it sure made me feel better to send it back with a reply that would get me banned if I shared it here.

Great piece of investigative reporting. Not going to expect seeing this in the MSM.

One reason the left is dominating is the way they figured out a way to get their pet organizations to feed from the public trough. In fact, if there is one very strong thread that goes through most left wing organizations, is the forced contribution model that keeps these organizations well fed by people who disagree with their mission, while conservative organizations get only voluntary contributions by people who feel passionately about them. This is the case for the AARP (government funding), Planned Parenthood, and unions (forced dues by members). This is totally outrageous.

"Anyone who still belongs to AARP is an out and out Communist/Socialist/Liberal."
Sen. Joe McCarthy.

OK....I made that up about McCarthy....

But the point is valid. Get out of that organization...do it now.

If you want.....you can write them and tell them why...but an incredibly shrinking membership will speak very loud indeed.

Just wondering, do you think it would do any good to start mass emailing articles like this to the msm? Maybe (I know the odds are bad) there's an honest reporter somewhere who would see it.

I am now 59, seems like these scumbags have been sending me mail since I was 50. I just trash it. I actually wrote them a letter stating that they were commies, and they didn’t care one bit about retirees, and mailed it back to them in thier envelope. They are unfazed, they keep mailing. Can you COD an overnight mail?

Find a brick...wrap it in paper and affix the return envelope to it. Drop in mail box and let AARP pay first class postage for the couple of pounds.

They had Danny Glover as a spokesman not long ago. Anyone who does not know that AARP has been taken over by communists is missing brain cells.

I don’t get much from them anymore but when I do I put so much in envelope (ads from paper cut up parts of paper and etc.) I have to tape shut. I’ve done this for years and not much come to our huse anymore. I love the idea of the brick.
