Thursday Quotes: A Lovable Little Fuzzball
November 12, 2009

"Adolf Hitler put people in jail to lower the unemployment numbers.
That's how Dachau started."

"The United States is a great nation at risk in a dangerous world.
Our threats have always been external, but today they are internal.
They are right in front of our face -- and I'm not talking about Fort Hood, specifically."

"Have you heard what we're going to do with the unspent TARP money?
We're going to reduce the deficit with it.
We're going to borrow money to reduce the amount of borrowed money.
It's nonsensical!"

"I have an Undeniable Truth of Life:  'Ours is a world governed by the aggressive use of force.'
But in Obama's world, ours is a world governed by the aggressive use of speeches."

"To fix this economy is so simple; even a left-wing, inexperienced little Marxist like Obama might be able to pick up
a few things if he just took a couple of night classes on capitalism -- maybe even read a Milton Friedman book."

"I wrote an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal suggesting a bipartisan stimulus plan; maybe I ought to FedEx that up to
Obama and Biden and Rahm Emanuel. I mean, Obama's already tried his way -- the political way -- and it's failed.
So now let him try mine."

"Months later, Obama's holding a 'jobs summit' -- after saddling the country with unimaginable deficit?
You know, whether somebody sees Obama as a near-god or an anti-American boob, the results are always the same: failure."

"It would have been heresy to make the following statement six months ago, but Obama is intent on eroding
the economy so he can more easily transform it into a version of European socialism.  There. I said it."

"If we have militant Islamists in the United States military who are known and we're looking the other way, you have to wonder:
Is this just political correctness, or incompetence going on?"

"I hope Obama does a summit on bikinis and invites me.
Well, he's doing a summit on everything else!"

"There are going to be thousands of Maoists sleazing their way into the federal bureaucracy after
whatever-number-of-years  that Obama is in the White House.  The bureaucracy is being polluted with these people!"

"You know, there's a lot of lunacy on the left.
Chris Matthews is actually, I think, losing it, and I don't say this to get a laugh. I think, folks, we are driving them nuts."

"There are no 'right-wing extremist radicals' in this audience.
Don't worry about what the media calls you -- screw them! I get so sick and tired of people caring about the media.
They are who there who they are."

"Obama just gives speech after speech.
He talks and talks and talks, and he thinks his soaring rhetoric is going to inspire somebody to do something -- I don't know what."

"Now Harry Reid's talking about a new higher payroll tax on the wealthy to pay for his health care --
this, on top of the House's 5.4% increase in the top marginal rate.
Where do these people think that money is?"

"People say Obama's cool -- he's not cool; he's cold.
These employment numbers... he doesn't have any indication of any emotion about this.
He doesn't represent himself as having any care about this."

"Barack Obama needs some classes on capitalism; I don't think he's ever been taught about capitalism.
Actually, I think he's been taught to hate and resent it."

"There's no 'working together' on the economy.
You turn people loose.
You get burdens off of their back.
You get regulations out of their way.
You don't sit there and talk about it."

"All of this has been a scam, folks.
The bottom line is, TARP, the stimulus -- it's the Chicago way.
All this is is the Democrats getting money that they could have never voted through Congress to pay off their political buddies.
It's a slush fund."

"Snerdley's question is:  How do the Democrats think they can win in 2010?
That's easy.  How about $500 billion to dole out to various Democrats from the stimulus money?
How about ACORN running around doing what they are famous for?"

"Montel Williams now has a radio talk show.
Notice how everybody wants one of those.
Everybody wants a radio talk show!
Everybody wants to be like me.
They do.  It's undeniable, inarguable."

"Hey Obama:  How about a summit on what to do when a Muslim extremist jihadist is in the military doing whatever the hell he wants,
including sending money to Pakistan?"

"These summits do zilch, zero, nada.
They're just community organizing left-wing shows.
Summit after summit after summit, looking busy -- while the country goes to hell in a hand basket."

"The Democrat Party enemies list is Big Oil, is Big Pharmaceutical, is Big Retail, is any big capitalistic enterprise that earns a profit…
and, of course, me, which is a capitalistic enterprise that earns a profit."

"It's unconstitutional to mandate the American people buy anything!
This is ridiculous!  But it is what it is.
I mean, do you think people who will write in their bill that you can go to jail for not buying health insurance care about their rules?"

"You can't fool me, ladies and gentlemen.
You have to get up early in the day to fool old El Rushbo!"

Continually repeat ...

It's not about me.
I'm the President.

Becoming Venezuela:  Obama Plans Purge of GOP Civil Servants
This is the kind of stuff that happens in Marxist regimes.
November 12, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Yesterday on this program, in reporting the absolute collapse of the energy sector in energy colossus Venezuela I said to you people that I keep an eye on Venezuela because that's where we're headed.  Get this.  The Obama administration intends to purge Republicans from the civil service retroactive to five years ago starting in the year 2010.  I found this at RedState.com: "Via Instapundit comes word that the federal government’s Office of Personnel Management (OPM) intends to purge the federal government of Republican civil servants all in the name of purifying the federal bureaucracy."  I've got the copy of the Office of Personnel Management memo right here in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers.  I will explain how this works later on in the program, but I just wanted to get this out there.

Here's the relevant paragraph from here John Berry, who is the director of the Office of Personnel Management:  "Beginning January 1, 2010, agencies must seek prior approval from OPM before they can appoint a current or recent political appointee to a competitive or non-political excepted service position at any level under the provisions of title 5, United States Code. OPM will review these proposed appointments to ensure they comply with merit system principles and applicable civil service laws. I have delegated decision making authority over these matters to career Senior Executives at OPM to avoid any hint of political influence."

"The memorandum goes on to apply this change to civil servants who were political appointees in the last five years, in effect freezing these employees out of other positions, denying them promotions, and forcing them out of their jobs." This is what Marxists do.  This is a purge.  This is typical of Marxist regimes, totalitarian regimes.  I'll tell you what.  I hope the next Republican administration learns this lesson, because there are going to be thousands of Maoists sleazing their way into the bureaucracy after whatever number of years that Obama is in the White House.  The bureaucracy is being polluted with these people.  And just as the Democrats and Obama are going to purge all Republicans from the civil service, you know, some people might say, "Well, you have a class-action suit on this."  I don't know.  Let's see if Chuck Schumer looks into this.  He was very, very, very concerned, wanted to investigate the firing of the US attorneys, and they wanted to frog march Karl Rove out of the White House and into jail for being a part of this.  So let's just see if Chuck Schumer is interested in investigating this.  I'm not making it up.  RedState.com, Erick Erickson has the post via Instapundit and the interpretation of this is clear.  That's why I'll keep an eye on Venezuela.  I'll keep an eye on totalitarian regimes, because this is a purge, to purify the federal government.

The way things work, let me just stick with this now.  It is a typical Washington process that many political appointees are able to take jobs within the civil service once their political appointment expires, usually at the conclusion of one administration.  You got career bureaucrats, you got political appointees.  So Bush appointed lots and lots of people to the federal bureaucracy.  All presidents do.  What often happens as well as this is that congressional staffers before an election or shortly thereafter will move over to the executive branch, placed into civil service in effect by appointment.  So, for example, when Bush became president in 2001, a number of Clinton political appointees became civil service employees, and as a result they became subject to civil service hiring and firing rules, which meant that they could no longer be replaced simply for having been a Democrat appointee, and that is what Obama is changing.  He intends to purge all Republicans from the federal bureaucracy retroactive to five years ago under these new rules.  And the new rules are made retroactive for five years.  So that's what is happening.

You remember, Bush, as an aspect of the new tone, did not get rid of any of these Clinton people.  He left them in high places at the CIA and the FBI and the State Department, Pentagon, left a lot of them there to show that, hey, I'm here and we're going to put this country back together again, we're not going to get rid of my political enemies and of course he paid a huge price for it because those people continued -- you get rid of political appointees all the time, folks, but you do it on the spot.  Obama's rules change here is to make it five years retroactive, and the sole purpose of this is to clear out any Republican, any conservative appointee and make this bureaucracy 100% Obama.  It's a takeover, add the czars to this, the unconstitutionality of the czars, the rules change here and the purging of Republicans, and this is the kind of stuff that happened in the Soviet Union.  This is the kind of stuff that Hugo Chavez is doing and has done.

Community Organizer-in-Chief Calls Summit to Talk About Jobs
What this guy really needs is lessons on capitalism
November 12, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: This is the State-Controlled Associated Press.  "Heavy government stimulus spending and near-zero interest rates did little to end a 'lost decade' of stagnation and mushrooming debt in Japan."  I had you going, didn't I?  "Some economists and lawmakers say the U.S. may wind up following the same trajectory. Despite early signs of recovery and a strong U.S. stock market rally, fears persist that the failure to generate new jobs or ignite more consumer spending could drag the economy back into recession, or result in a protracted Japan-like period of poor economic and stock-market performance," and it was over ten years. It was a lost decade.  "Japan is President Barack Obama's first stop on a tour of Asia beginning Friday," where he'll probably drop off Anita Dunn over there in China.

"[A]nd the gloomy world economy will be high on the agenda. Both Japan, beginning in the 1990s, and the U.S., in the most recent economic crisis, had credit and housing bubbles and both engaged in huge amounts of overborrowing ... 'It seems to me we are on the exact same path that the Japanese took in their "lost decade" -- of running up huge government debts, of not stimulating growth and at the end of the decade having this massive debt,' said Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback, senior Republican on Congress' Joint Economic Committee. The U.S. may already be in a lost decade — and not realize it yet. Some 7.3 million jobs have been lost since the recession began in December 2007."

It did not begin in December 2007.  They're trying to pin this on Bush with that, but it did not begin then.  So, months after... Folks, remember when I said, back in January, "I hope he fails," I meant, "I hope this stimulus thing fails. I hope his plan doesn't work because if it works, we're going to get exactly what we have."  So months, nine months after my Limbaugh analysis comes this in the State-Controlled Associated Press.  I am not surprised at all by any of this, ad so the president of the United States this morning in a little three-minute address from the Diplomatic Reception Room which has all the nice pictures in there -- it's one of the entrances to the White House -- announced a "jobs summit" next month in December. After TARP, after stimulus was gonna keep unemployment under 8%, after he had the magic fix, a job summit! We're going to talk more, which is exactly what community organizers do.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  So, the man-child president, Barack Obama, wants to have a summit, a summit to talk about jobs.  I said yesterday, "People are tired of speeches."  You know, I have an Undeniable Truth of Life: "Ours is a world governed by the aggressive use of force."  In Obama's world, ours is a world governed by the aggressive use of speeches.  He gives speech after speech, he talks and talks and talks, and he thinks his soaring rhetoric is going to inspire somebody to do something. I don't know what.  I still don't believe, folks, that he wants to create jobs and I know some people think it's heresy to say that, but I have always told you what I believe and what I think and I don't think so. Anybody, folks, who wanted to create jobs would be out there cutting taxes. Anybody who wanted to create jobs would be spurring investment in the private sector, not in government.

They'd be doing everything they could to reduce the burden on growth rather than taxing that growth, which prevents that growth.  We don't need higher taxes.  Now Harry Reid is talking about a new higher payroll tax on the wealthy to pay for his health care. This is on top of the House's 5.4% increase in the top marginal rate.  Where do these people think that money is?  Why is it that this one little, small group of Americans -- the so-called rich -- are the ones that are constantly targeted and focused on by the Democrats?  It's because they want to wipe 'em out.  This is being done on purpose, and this summit is meaningless.  There's nobody that has any belief whatsoever that after these guys get together in the White House to have a summit that all of a sudden jobs are going to be created.  I know what Obama's going to do.He's going to pressure private companies to do more.

Ha!  He is going to pressure private companies to go out there and do more.  They can't do more.  The small businesses in this country are in pain.  They are hurting.  They are the targets of all of this.  How many more "summits" does this guy need to inform himself?  These are just shows, folks, they are intended to convince people he cares about their plight, when he doesn't.  We mentioned this yesterday how cold he is.  People say he's "cool."  He's not cool.  He's cold!  These employment numbers, he doesn't have any indication of any emotion about this.  He doesn't represent himself as having any caring about this.  What Obama needs... You know what he really needs?  And it's too late, he's not going to be able to get it at this stage because the people he's surrounded by. He needs an education.  Barack Obama needs some classes on capitalism.  I don't think he's ever been taught capitalism.  I think he's been taught to hate it.

I think he's been taught to resent it.  I think he's been taught that capitalism is inherently unfair, unjust, and immoral.  That capitalism gave us slavery, that capitalism gave us subjugation, that capitalism gave us discrimination, that capitalism gave us unfairness and inequality.  That's what he's been taught his whole life. The people that raised him felt that, the people that taught him school, the people he hung around with at ACORN, his community organizers, thought the same thing.  This guy needs an education, classes on capitalism, classes on capital creation, wealth creation, job creation -- and I can tell you what they are.  The classes would be tax cuts, regulatory moratoriums, smaller government, all of the things that he is inexorably opposed to.  I mean, this is so simple.  To fix this is so simple even a left-wing, inexperienced little Marxist like Obama might be able to pick up a few things if he just took a couple night classes on capitalism.  Maybe read a Milton Friedman book!  Okay, here are the sound bites.  First he's calling a job summit 'cause there's an emergency.  But he has to assure us first that he's already saved the economy.

OBAMA:  Over the past ten months we've taken a number of bold steps to break the back of this recession.  As a result, the economy is now growing again for the first time in more than a year and faster than at any time in the past two years.  But even though we've slowed the loss of jobs -- and today's report on the continued decline in unemployment claims is a hopeful sign -- the economic growth that we've seen has not yet led to the job growth that we desperately need.

RUSH:  And there was no private sector growth in that third quarter GDP of 3.5%.  Let me go through this again.  GDP equals CIG: Consuming, business investment is the I, and government is G.  GDP equals CIG.  There was no consumin' going on out there!  Look at the sales. Look at manufacturing. There's no consumin' going on out there, not an increase in consuming.  Investment?  Businesses are investing; is that right?  Yeah? That's why more and more people are being laid off? Is that why? So there wasn't any business investment; it was all government. It was all G! It was all government growth.  It was cash for clunkers and this first-time home buyer tax credit.  There was no economic growth in the private sector.  Here's the next sound bite.

OBAMA:  We all know that there are limits to what government can and should do even during such difficult times.  But we have an obligation to consider every additional responsible step that we can to encourage and accelerate job creation in this country.  And that's why in December we'll be holding a forum at the White House on jobs and economic growth.  We'll gather CEOs and small business owners, economist and financial experts, as well as representatives from labor unions and nonprofit groups to talk about how we can work together to create jobs and get this economy moving again.

RUSH:  This is community organizing.  If you've ever wondered what it is, this is community organizing.  You get all these different people in the room and you talk, and you talk about we can work together in order to bring this country out of its recession.  Labor unions, small business, politicians, we can all work together, just like "the world came together to take down the Berlin Wall."  There's no working together on this! You turn people loose.  You get burdens off of their backs.  You get regulations out of their way.  You turn obstacles in front of them into invisible objects and let people just move full speed ahead.  You don't sit there and talk about it.  Here. I have some comments about this. Let's listen to the third and final bite.

OBAMA:  It's important that you don't make any ill-considered decisions, even with the best of intentions, particularly at a time when our resources are so limited.  But it's just as important that we are open to any demonstrably good idea to supplement the steps we've already taken to put America back at work.  That's what this forum is about.

RUSH:  No, it's not, because there are plenty of ideas.  I've offered ideas, I just did, and I've offered these ideas every day on this program.  I wrote an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal suggesting a bipartisan stimulus plan.  Maybe I ought to FedEx that up to them, my Wall Street Journal piece -- and I should copy Obama and Biden and Rahm Emanuel, Larry Summers, Christine Roemer, Gibbs, and anybody else.  I mean, Obama's already tried his way, the political way, and it's failed.  So now let him try mine.  I wonder if he's going to get anybody in that room, even from small business, who is going to have the guts or the knowledge to say something other than, "Obama we need more help from you. We need more handouts. We need more" whatever it is they want, bailouts or what have you.  Let's go back.  Da-da-da.

Here's what Obama said when he signed his genius stimulus bill in Denver.  And, by the way, that was in February, I think, when he signed that.  Remember when he signed the stimulus bill he did it in Denver and he was all by himself.  No other politician was permitted on stage to take away from this big moment.  And all of this has been a scam, folks.  The bottom line is, TARP, stimulus, it's the Chicago way.  All this is is getting money that you could have never voted through Congress to pay off your political buddies and buy votes like with the AARP and the AMA and whoever else you're going to need.  It's a slush fund!  You wonder why they haven't spent but 14% of the stimulus? It's because they never intended to!  It's a slush fund.

It's going to be used for Democrat reelection campaigns next year.  It is used to pay off members of Congress and whoever for their votes on needed Obama legislation.  I mean, this is classic; right out of the way Marxist and socialists and Stalinists do things.  Imagine a slush fund of over a trillion bucks, almost two trillion and that's what we're looking at here.  And that's why so little of it has been spent.  When he signed this thing -- only him, by the way, on stage; he couldn't share it with anybody -- he said, "We have begun the essential work of keeping the American dream alive in our time.  We will need to do everything in the short term to get our economy moving again as well as begin restoring fiscal discipline and taming our exploding deficits over the long term." That was Obama in February signing the stimulus bill.

Today, he announces a "jobs summit."  This has all been a scam, folks.  Months later, Obama is holding a jobs summit after saddling the country with unimaginable deficit, $1.5 trillion deficits yearly, weekly increasing unemployment rates. A jobs summit?  You know, again, whether somebody sees Obama as a near-god or an anti-American boob, the results are always the same: Failure.  He is an unmitigated, abject failure, except in his world he is succeeding.  I have an idea.  Let me help out here.  You know how we can really jump-start this economy?  We can take a cue from the House health care bill where they're going to put people in jail if they don't buy health insurance.  If anybody doesn't find a job in three months, we put 'em in jail.  We put 'em in jail so we no longer can count them in the unemployment number.

We just put 'em in jail, and we use stimulus money to build new jails to put 'em in jail.  I mean, we know it's not Obama's fault. Anybody not working is doing it to make Obama look bad.  That's what's really going on! Send these people to jail. They're probably Republicans not finding work on purpose just to make Obama look bad.  (This is how they look at it in DC.) Send them to jail all those who don't want to buy his insurance policy.  Let's start putting people in jail here!  By the way, speaking of that Pelosi said that's a perfectly fairly provision in our bill.  We've got that audio sound bite coming up as well on the program.  Now, Lee Cary at the American Thinker, he's a little bit more charitable in talking about Obama here.

He says, "It's pretty clear to the conscious that the president hasn't a clue how to grow the economy, and every day more of the suspected job growth isn't even part of his agenda for the next few years." And that's exactly right. "It would have been heresy to make the following statement six months ago: 'Obama is intent on eroding the economy so he can more easily transform it into a version of European socialism...'" I said it, Mr. Cary.  I said it. I've been saying it, and the White House has never responded to that.  They've responded to the "I hope he fails" business.  But that room, Mr. Cary, points out where this job summit, it's going to be all buzz bzz bzz bzz bzz optimism and bon ami and so forth, but nothing's going to change.  This is all about feeling good and looking good and making people think you care about them, and then nothing at all happens -- and that's when you blame business for not doing enough.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I got a question in the e-mail:  "Hey, are you slowing down those sound bites of Obama on the job summit?"  No.  We didn't slow 'em down at all.  He does sound like he couldn't care less about the subject.  No enthusiasm, no conviction whatsoever, just reading the teleprompter.  He said he's trying to break the back of the recession?  Hell with that, he's broken the back of America and our economy.  That's what he's breaking the back of, and it's purposeful.

Jen in Brownstown, Michigan.  I'm glad you called.  Welcome to the Rush Limbaugh program.  Hi.

CALLER:  Hey, Rush.  Well, you said just what I thought you would say about the jobs summit, and I just think that no matter what, like the people think, the real American people think, I don't think Obama cares about it, I don't think the Congress cares about it, and I wish I was wrong.

RUSH:  Yeah, I know how you feel.  It's a tough thing to accept, it's a tough reality to accept, nobody wants to believe it, that we've elected a president who actually is comfortable with this kind of damage so it can set up what he really wants to do, is massive redistribution of wealth and create as many dependent middle class Americans as possible on government so that they will perpetually vote Democrat and keep the Democrats in power for perpetuity.  I mean that's what's headed here plus a genuine dislike.  That's why I say, folks, it may not be Obama's fault -- (interruption) what, Snerdley?  What?  How do they think they can win in 2010?  I'll answer that.  Snerdley's question is how do they think they can win in 2010?  That's easy.  I'll explain that in just a second.  Well, let me explain it to you now.  How about $500 billion to dole out to various Democrats in their campaigns from the stimulus money, and how about ACORN running around doing what they are famous for?

Oh, which reminds me, there are all kinds of new and exciting things coming out on New York 23.  It might be that Hoffman conceded too soon, a bunch of precincts gave him zero votes he's now closed the gap to 3,000 votes and they're still counting over 10,000 absences.  He may have conceited too soon but this Owens guy has already sworn in and has voted on the health care bill.  It's unlikely that he's going to win, but I mean it's much, much closer than he thought and his campaign thought when they conceited.  Syracuse newspaper has the details.  Being charitable, as charitable as I can, this may not be Obama's fault.  He is who he is.  He was raised by communists, he was mentored -- Frank Davis was an avowed communist.  His father, Barack Obama Sr. was one as well.  Now, we know that he's been educated in the Ivy League, which teaches the inherent unfairness in this country, that capitalism's unfair, that it leads to unequal results, discrimination, poverty for some, wealth for others.  I mean, he's been taught that this country is unjust and immoral, which is why I suggested a couple of night classes on capitalism.

"Now, Rush, don't you think that he's actually been exposed to it?"  Oh, I think he's been exposed to it but from a standpoint of how unfair, how mean-spirited, and how unjust it is.  Look, you know what your kids are faced with in school every day, what they're being taught about American history and what they're being taught about the evils this nation perpetrated after it was founded, even before it was founded when our ancestors arrived here.  You can imagine what this guy's been taught.  We know that he thinks it.  He's said it in his books all over the place, various interviews.  So he is who he is.  Pete Wehner has a great phrase:  "We don't have a statesman president, we got an ideologue."  We have an ideologue president.  Pete Wehner writing his piece today at his website.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: By the way, this jobs summit, isn't this a subconscious admission by Obama that he doesn't know what to do?  Or is it just a stall, just to look busy?  He doesn't know what to do, but he's gotta look like he's doing something.

EIB Network Announces Unemployed Summit in December
On the day Obama has his summit, we'll have our own.
November 12, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: From Reuters: "The White House is looking to cut its budget deficit by using some unspent funds from the U.S. government's Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), the Wall Street Journal said, citing people familiar with the matter."  This is a joke, right?  This is a joke?  This is like you owing a big balance on your credit cards.  You go out and borrow $15,000 to pay off your credit cards and think you're out of debt.  How stupid do they think we are?  "Members of the Obama administration are still debating the idea, the paper said, adding that the administration would still like to keep some of the unspent money in case of emergencies." Like what, 22% employment?

You know what we need?  You know, instead of one of these stupid summits out there on jobs, a job summit at the White House, which I guarantee you is going to be either a small business shake down with the unions, or it's just a show, it's community organizing in action: you talk about it, you talk about it, you talk about it, you come out with a optimistic press release at the end of the day and nothing happens but it's made to look like you care.  You know what kind of summit we need?  We need a summit of the unemployed.  That's who Obama needs to talk to, a summit of the unemployed.  Bring them to Washington and ask them what they think needs to be done here. (interruption) Well, you know, we could do that, Snerdley.

We could do a little on air town hall unemployment summit right here on the same day he's doing his job summit.  Book it.  We're going to do that.  Whenever they announce the date for this we're going to do a full three-hour unemployment summit talking only to the unemployed, getting their ideas for what ought to happen.  That's what we're going to do.  We'll counter it with our own, and our summit is going to be a lot bigger than theirs and our summit is going to be heard by a lot more people than theirs.  And we're not going to be able to lie about our summit because our summit's going to take place live with no script and no teleprompter, and we're not even going to know who the guests are.  We're just going to invite the unemployed to call.

Now, you're going to have to cooperate with us on this day, folks, if you have a job you gotta stay away.  Not that you won't have any good ideas, we just want to talk to the unemployed.  We want to find out 'cause nobody's doing stories on these poor people.  In fact, the stories we get on how wonderful it is to be unemployed, stories on how, oh, they're coming together with their families, they're relearning values like sharing and doing with less, oh, yeah, we're not getting any sob stories at all.  We're getting it's a wonderful thing to be unemployed. It's a great thing to be laid off by Boeing. It's better to be laid off by Boeing than to still have a job at Boeing.  Who was it that reported that?  Some AP, NBC, whatever it was.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  You know, I'm thinking about this reducing the deficit with some TARP money.  Why don't we just cut to the chase?  Why doesn't Obama just write a check for the entire whatever the national debt is? Just write a check for $12.5 trillion or whatever the national debt is and pay it off!  Why just nibble around the edges at this?  Why take five or six hundred billion dollars from TARP and apply it to the deficit?  Just write a check for the whole thing.  If you don't want to go for the national debt just white a check for $12 trillion and give yourself a $200 billion surplus this year. Just write a check for it.  Simple!  How about a summit to figure out ways to balance a budget? You know, we're doing a summit on jobs.

Balancing the budget that's complex, too. Get some union leaders, left-wing bloggers in there to toss around some ideas -- and then after they leave write the check, just write a check and write it off.  How about a summit on what to do when a Muslim extremist jihadist is in the military doing whatever the hell he wants and maybe sending money to Pakistan?  How about we do a summit on how the hell our military is being corrupted here and who knows what other institutions are being corrupted and infiltrated?  And let's do a summit or how is it that a guy can be paid $90,000 in American taxpayer dollars and be sending that money over to Al-Qaeda or whoever in Pakistan? We need a summit on that.  How about, Obama, you convene a summit to better explain global warming when record cold temperatures are everywhere?

We need a summit for that, too.  And this is not the first Obama summit.  Back on February 23rd, 2009: "President Obama took a step forward toward cutting the nation's budget deficit at a White House summit, a difficult task facing the new president a week after he signed a $1 trillion stimulus bill. At the Monday afternoon summit a bipartisan group of lawmakers economists independent experts and advocacy group representatives will discuss Social Security, health care and defense costs that have led to a projected $1.2 trillion deficit."  These summits obviously have worked so well in the past. This budget summit when they all broke out into groups? You remember that? We laughed at them. They had groups that reported back to Obama after two or three hours of meeting and, voila! They had solved the deficit.

And look at us now.  Look, I know it's funny, but it is... Well, it is funny.  There's no getting around the fact that this is funny based on the incompetence of it all, but it's not incompetence that's driving this.  You and I are being played for the biggest bunch of suckers that these people think have ever trod the earth.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Let me tell you something.  Just a moment ago, I was trying to find the date in December for the jobs summit so that we could plan our unemployed summit.  I couldn't find it, but I found this buried in a Fox News story: "At the White House, Obama held a fiscal responsibility summit in February."  A health care summit in March.  An Afghan-Pakistan summit in May.  It's November.  We still haven't made a decision.  These summits do zilch, zero, nada.  They are community organizing left-wing shows.  He's also attended G20 and G8 meetings abroad as well as attended Russia, Mexico, NATO, and Americas summits.  And let's not forget the beer summit, with Skip Gates and that "stupid" cop from Cambridge.  Meetings, meetings, meetings, summit after summit after summit, looking busy while the country goes to hell in a handbasket.

If we need a summit in addition to our summit of the unemployed that we're going to do here, we need a real summit where we can bring in the smartest free market economists and educate Obama on how jobs and wealth are created.  Actually rather than a summit, how about Obama just do a little reading.  He seems to have enough time here.  Milton Friedman, Friedrich Von Hayek, Adam Smith, scores of others.  Maybe he could subscribe to the new conservative best-seller book list that the Huffington Post is calling for it.  Here's the truth, folks.  I gotta say it.  I have to say it again.  Obama is not open to learning and understanding.  He is on a mission, and when his mission succeeds, the rest of the nation's actions, people, the whole country fails.  That's his mission.  His success is the failure of capitalism or the destruction of capitalism.  What we are witnessing is a failed presidency.  It's evidenced each and every day.  We are in the midst of a failed presidency.  We are being led by a destructive ideologue who is on a mission, and he's told us, to "remake this country."

RUSH:  I hope Obama does a summit on bikinis and invites me.  I mean he's doing a summit on everything else.

Montel Williams is Off His Rocker
He fears internment camps for Muslim Americans.
November 12, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Montel Williams, who now has a radio talk show -- notice how everybody wants one of those.  Everybody wants a radio talk show.  Everybody wants to be like me.  They do.  Undeniable, inarguable.  We've put together a montage of Montel Williams' remarks about the possible public reaction to the terror incident at Fort Hood.

WILLIAMS:  We pulled something like this back in World War II when we decided to round up all Japanese-Americans and put them in internment camps.  Before we could blink, the rhetoric could get out of hand.  What do you think?  Even if it comes out to that in the last five months based on all of his anxiety around his impending deployment, that his frame of reference was his religion and that was what was giving him the power within himself to make a stand.  That doesn't mean that the religion is to blame.

RUSH:  Oh, of course not, and I guess we're just on the verge of internment camps.  I know a little bit about those internment camps.  The Japanese in this country, Japanese soldiers were permitted to fight, but not in the Pacific theater, they were sent to Europe.  We did things differently back then.  The Japanese bombed us and we said, "Okay, we're not taking any chances," and it was a liberal Democrat that did it.  And now we've got Obama in the White House and we're talking about internment of Muslims out there on left-wing talk shows?  We don't have the guts to keep 'em out of our institutions much less in -- I'm not suggesting.  I think it's just paranoia these people are constantly living in, and they're paranoid of us.  They think we're going to demand it and Obama is going to do it, which is simply laughable.

Buffett and Gates May Believe in Capitalism, But Obama Does Not
The fact is, we're in the midst of a failed presidency.
November 12, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: A couple of audio sound bites this afternoon in Nueva Orc at Columbia University, CNBC held a town hall event called Keeping America Great, A Summit, with Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett and Microsoft founder Bill Gates.  The moderator, Becky Quick, says, "This is a very pivotal moment in history.  People have a lot of questions about the economy, about our entire system of capitalism.  Mr. Buffett, over the course of the last year was there ever a time you had doubts about capitalism and about our way of life?"

BUFFETT:  No, there was not a time.  If there had been last September when we invested a lot of money that was when the country was looking into the abyss and, you know, the money was flowing out of money market funds, the commercial paper market had died and everything and we -- we put $8 billion at work in just a matter of a few days then. So I never lost confidence in the system.  This country works.  You know, we've got 200 years of -- of proof.

RUSH:  You know, this is just... I'm not going to sit there and refute the brilliance of Warren Buffett as an investor and strategist, but I have to question the common sense the guy has.  We are in the midst of an assault on capitalism! Buffett may have confidence in it but his president doesn't believe in it.  Here's Becky Quick again. She says to Gates, "Bill, what do you think about my question?"

GATES:  This country still has the best universities, the best science, and, you know, we're going to tune our system of capitalism.  The fundamentals of the system -- a marketplace driven system where we invest in education and a great infrastructure for the long term -- that's continued.  And, you know, I'll bet there's inventions that took place even that fall in that darkest hour. People are working on new drugs, new chips, new robots and things that will make life better for everyone in the decades ahead.

RUSH:  All right, well, somebody needs to get hold of Obama and tell him something because Buffett says he has faith in capitalism and Bill Gates says he has faith in capitalism.  I wish Becky Quick would have asked both of them: "Do you see any capitalism going on out there?  You think that there are inventions and you think that there's new drugs and you think that there are robots and you think all of this, but where is it?  And who's got the jobs making all these things that you say are being produced by our capitalist markets?" But she didn't ask that.  You know, they're in awe when they get these two guys up and ask them anything.  Just like the aliens in V, this new ABC miniseries. They tell the press, just like Obama, "I'm not going to answer any question that makes us look bad. You can't even ask a question that makes us look bad!"  Well, these guys don't want to ask a question that might make these guys look bad, so that's why they're not gonna say, "Do you see any capitalism, Mr. Buffett?"

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  Say, let's grab Gates again.  I have a question here for Bill Gates after his sound bite.  His answer to the question, "You've had your doubts about capitalism, about our way of life.  Everything okay out there?"

RUSH:  All right, now, here's my question for Bill Gates and Microsoft.  If working on things that make life better for everybody in the years ahead, as Gates said -- if we got people doing that -- then why are we punishing them?  Why are we targeting them?  Why do we regulate 'em?  Why do we obstruct them?  Why do we denounce 'em?  Why do we point fingers of blame at them and say they are the people ruining the country?  Why do we besmirch them?  Why do we impugn them?  Why do we raise their taxes?  If these are the people doing all the creating and inventing out there, why in the world are they the enemy?  They are the enemy of the Democrat Party and this administration!  Why do we punish, smear, and denounce the inventors, producers, job-creators, and wealth creators?

RUSH: Madison, Alabama, Lynn, welcome to the EIB Network.  Hello.

CALLER:  Rush!

RUSH:  Yeah!

CALLER:  Hi! It's my birthday.  This is the best birthday present I've ever gotten.

RUSH:  Thank you very much, and happy birthday to you.

CALLER:  Thank you, thank you, thank you.  I won't say how old I am.  I'll keep that.  Some girls have to have their secrets.  But anyway, I was calling to tell you what's going to happen at the summit they're going to have.

RUSH:  What's that? What's going to happen?

CALLER:  First they're going to bring all these brilliant people in, and then Obama is gonna say that he has a solution.  And he's going to make us wait a month for that.  Then he's going to say that he heard that somebody stole some paper clips from one of the companies, so there was some corruption going on, so he's gotta find another way, and then he's going to just put it off indefinitely.

RUSH:  Well --

CALLER:  Just like he did in Afghanistan.

RUSH:  Well, no, no.  He can't on this. On this he's gotta have some sort of announcement.  If I understand the guy, what he'll do is target who he thinks are the real enemy here, and that is small business.  You know, in answering this Bill Gates comment, you look at, folks, at the Democrat Party enemies list. It is Big Oil, it is Big Pharmaceutical, it is Big Retail. It is any big capitalistic enterprise that earns a profit!  And, of course, me, which is a capitalistic enterprise that earns a profit.  But aside from that, all conservatives are his enemies.  What he's going to do, if he does anything... Let me put it a different way.  It's meaningless.  I just went through the list of all the summits he has a had.  He had a budget deficit summit in March.  It's growing at an all-time high!  He had an Afghanistan-Pakistan policy summit in May.

He does nothing but have summits!  He convenes people in the White House, he sends them into "work groups," the sycophant media with their tongues on the floor going (panting) excitedly report all this going on as though something's been accomplished when nothing ever is.  But everybody feels like something has happened, that Washington is working on the problem. Washington is working on the problem! Oh, that should make everybody feel better.

Was It PC or Something Worse That Hamstrung Hasan Investigators?
Pray it's just political correctness, or we're in real trouble.

RUSH: Pete Hoekstra, a Republican from Michigan -- you know, they've been looking at this Nidal Hasan guy.  Have you seen the video of his apartment?  There's nothing in there!  It looks like he's living in abject poverty, but he was making almost six figures a year.  So Pete Hoekstra said sources outside the intelligence community learned about Hasan's possible connections to Pakistan.  He might have been wiring money to Pakistan, which, of course, is facing a massive Islamist insurgency, widely believed to be Osama Bin Laden's hiding place.  Ed Morrissey has this at HotAir.com: "This would appear to indicate that Nidal Hasan was something other than a loner who cracked under the strain of vicarious PTSD.  The man who made a $90,000 annual salary but lived like a pauper may have sent money to Pakistan, according to Rep. Pete Hoekstra. That would explain one mystery that has arisen since the shooting, but apparently didn’t push anyone to connect a few dots before it. Hasan’s finances have been a mystery since last week, when the Army major and psychiatrist allegedly shot --" he's now been charged, by the way, with 13 counts of murder.

"Hasan earned more than $90,000 a year and had no dependents, yet lived in an aging one-bedroom apartment that rented for about $300 a month.  So now we have the possibility of overseas money transfers to Pakistan at about the same time the FBI was made aware of repeated communication between Hasan and a 9/11 figure in Yemen. Meanwhile, Hasan -- a well-paid medical professional -- lived a lifestyle of near-poverty despite living by himself.  And no one in the intelligence community thought this required further investigation?"  Is this really just political correctness?  By gosh I hope that's all it is because if there's something else going on here, folks, we are in more trouble than I even want to contemplate.  If we have militant Islamists in the United States military who are known or highly suspected to be militant Islamists and we're looking the other way, despite all kinds of evidence that should be sounding warning bells and raising red flags, you have to wonder, is this just political correctness and incompetence going on?  Boy, I hope it's just PC. It's bad enough if that's what it is 'cause that's going to be tough to fix.  But if it's something else, as in this is purposeful, then we got a bigger problem than you can possibly imagine.  As I say, I hope it's not that.

RUSH: Brenda in Upland, California, great to have you on the EIB Network.  Hi.

CALLER:  Hi, Rush.  How are you?

RUSH:  Fine and dandy.  Appreciate your call.

CALLER:  Thank you.  I was calling about the think tank that Major Hasan was in that you mentioned yesterday.

RUSH:  Yeah, the George Washington University International Policy Center for Strategic and International Social Studies, self-defense studies, foreign policy studies, whatever --

CALLER: (laughing) No, nonpartisan, nonpartisan --

RUSH:  Nonpartisan, but it was an eight month long or nine-month long transition seminar.

CALLER:  Yes.  And, you know, I got a PDF copy of it and I started reading it, and I thought it was really, really interesting.  I mean their suggestions here of course is closing Gitmo, relabeling the global war on terror.  Where we heard that before?  They talk about manmade disasters versus natural disasters.  I mean to their credit, they actually use the word terrorism in this report, but they call it a major hazard and say that it is not an existential threat to the US because we're too big and too populous.  But keep it all in the context of this was crafted and formulated with a terrorist!  Hello!

RUSH:  And somebody who at the time was known to be one, or at least consorting with them and e-mailing them, and now we have learned perhaps even sending them moola.

CALLER:  Sending money to Pakistan.  It's unbelievable.  How did we get to a point in this country where a terrorist can help shape our foreign policy and our domestic policy?

RUSH:  Especially before Obama was elected, I know.

CALLER:  Yes.  Oh, yes, I understand that Obama didn't appoint him to this but --

RUSH:  Right.

CALLER:  -- this proposal was given, it was set up to give to the next administration, and as I read off, you can see that large portions of this have been incorporated into where we're at today. (dog barking)

RUSH:  That's why I said this is almost too frightening to contemplate.  By the way, what kind of dog you got back there?

CALLER:  I'm sorry.  She's a Chihuahua.

RUSH:  Oh, no wonder.  You got a yapper.

CALLER:  Oh, well, she just decided to start when I got on the phone.

RUSH:  Right, because she jealous.

CALLER:  (laughing)  Nani.  Thank you.

RUSH:  You're not paying enough attention to her.

CALLER:  I know, I know, she's terrible.  She's terribly spoiled.

RUSH:  Well, what animal isn't that lives in a home.

CALLER: (laughing) That's true.

RUSH:  That's what they're for.  When I saw the possibility this guy is sending money to Pakistan, here's a guy being paid in US tax dollars, he's Palestinian, born in America but he's Palestinian, he's shouting "Allahu Akbar" and everybody that was involved from all the agencies -- the Army, the Pentagon, the FBI -- they knew this, I don't know about the money, but they knew it and they said, "Well, the Constitution, the First Amendment, we can't do anything about this, it doesn't rise to the level of a threat."  And I'm thinking I just hope it's PC that hamstrung these people, 'cause if it's something other than that, if it was a willful look the other way, we're in trouble, folks.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  Now, I think the Washington Post has an interesting story on this Hasan Nidal thing.  Intelligence officer unnamed said that since the FBI was in on much of this, it may be that things were treated as a criminal inquiry, where you have to deal with reasonable doubt, all kinds of restrictions, rather than terrorism.  This is why the left wing's prosecution of terrorism as a criminal matter is not going to stop terrorism from taking place.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Jennifer in Butler, New Jersey.  You're next.  Great to have you here with us.

CALLER:  Yes.  Good afternoon.  It is great to speak with you, Rush.

RUSH:  Thank you.

CALLER:  Yes.  I love listening how you point out the facts that are true in this country, and I'd like to find out why people won't open up their eyes -- and why they're so naive -- to see that all President Obama is spending money like he has a credit card with no limits.

RUSH:  I think more and more people do.  Look, I've seen polling data. We just had polling data from Ohio.  He's losing that state.  Rob Portman is leading both Democrats for the 2010 Senate race -- and Rob Portman is a great guy. He's a Reagan capitalist and free market guy.  I've met him a couple times.  He's tremendous.  Obama's barely holding at 50% approval.  He has total disapproval on his health care and cap and trade bills.  In Ohio -- and the Democrats owned Ohio in 2006 and 2008 -- I think more and more people are figuring this out, more and more people are worried to death. You're always going to have 30% of the population that doesn't care, that's not ideological, that's not even paying enough attention to care.  But the remaining 70% -- and I'm guessing at these percentages. But believe me, there's tremendous upset out there.  It's just that these people don't have a repository for their emotion.  There's no singular Republican out there that is willing to run around and act on their anger.

CALLER:  Yeah. What they have to realize is that we're going to be the ones who are going to be held responsible for all the injuries that he is accumulating on the government, you know, deficit and so forth.  It's ridiculous.

RUSH:  Who's going to be held accountable?

CALLER:  We are, because we're going to have to pay back to make up --

RUSH:  Oh.

CALLER:  -- for what the government owes.

RUSH:  Oh.  Oh.  Oh.  Oh.  Oh.  Yeah, we're all going to be destitute.  If not destitute, the opportunities for prosperity and success are going to be so limited.  I mean, the government is using up all the money.  There isn't any in the private sector to lend.  There isn't any in the private sector to borrow, or very little.  I mean, it is a bad situation.  We're not going to be "held responsible," we're going to bear the brunt of it.

CALLER:  Exactly.

RUSH:  What you want is for Obama to be held responsible for it.

CALLER:  Absolutely.

RUSH:  And there's still time to do something about this debt in 2010, if Republicans can emerge victorious there.  Look, I appreciate the call, Jennifer.  Thanks very much.

CALLER:  Have a nice day.

RUSH:  You bet.  Let's see... Ernest in Sundown, Texas.  You are up.  Hello, sir.

CALLER:  Hello, Rush.

RUSH:  Hi.

CALLER:  I have been waiting to talk to you for 21 years.

RUSH:  Well.

CALLER: (chuckles)

RUSH: And now it's happened.

CALLER:  And I don't want to be off topic because you've been talking about the deficit.

RUSH:  There is no topic.  There is no topic.  Talk about whatever you want.

CALLER:  Well, I was just telling Mr. Snerdley and I wanted to tell you, that I think a lot of the mainstream media is skewing the facts on this Major Hasan issue, and I'm in total agreement with you. I read your statements yesterday. I don't get to listen to you every day.  I wanted to preface what I had to say first before I get to my talking points.  I don't get to listen to you every day so the left-wing media can't call me one of these radical extremists, okay? I'm very conservative, Republican, and I have to give you kudos since I've been listening to you since 1988 I think it was when you came on?

RUSH:  That's right.  That's exactly right.

CALLER:  I was sitting around the table with some friends of mine with a little carry-around pocket radio, and I heard somebody saying what we thought and felt.  I've had lived overseas.  I know these people, so I'm not talking like some kind of right-wing extremist radical.

RUSH:  There are no right-wing extremist radicals in this audience.

CALLER:  Yeah.

RUSH:  You aren't one.

CALLER:  (laughing) They can call me that if they want to.

RUSH:  Don't worry about what they call you!

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: Screw them!  I get so sick and tired of people caring about the media.  They are who there who they are.

CALLER:  Yeah.

RUSH:  You know, we're not going to change the devil.  Something anybody expect the devil to change?

CALLER:  No.

RUSH:  Okay.

CALLER:  No.  And I don't expect the Islamic radicals to change.

RUSH:  No.

CALLER:  And not all Muslims are radical.  I understand that, too.  I've worked with some.  But the compassion part of Islam stops at about Surah Number Nine.  The rest of it is by the sword.  Anybody who's read Robert Spencer and seen some of his stuff will know for sure.  I've lived it personally.  I was in Libya when Moammar Gadhafi took over in 1969.  I have been in the middle of it. I was a teenager, but I have been in the middle of these riots. I have feared for my life (voice breaking) and these people here in this country need to wake up and realize it. If I had done this, if I had done anything similar to this --

RUSH:  I know, I know.

CALLER:  -- when I was in the service, I would be in Fort Leavenworth.

RUSH: Yeah. Me with you.

RUSH: Last night, I flew into New York -- actually I was in Westchester County.  The Westchester-Putnam Council of the Boy Scouts of America awarded my good friend Roger Ailes the 2009 Good Scout Award.  As you know he's the CEO of Fox News Channel, and I was just randomly opening my mail one day and I got an invitation to go to this thing, and I moved the schedule around to be able to go up there and do it.  I asked for seven or eight minutes to speak, and they gave it to me.  I did a profound, heartfelt tribute to Roger and what he means to the country, what he has meant to me, the miracle that he's created, the culture that he's -- one man, they got 1,700 people that work at Fox.  Roger's never been on camera.  Roger is not actively in the director's chair every day for all these shows and yet he's created this culture where everybody there is on the same page and proud, and they're winning.  Four times the audience of all the other three combined, it's just incredible.

I was a Boy Scout once, for a year.  But one of the reasons I wanted to go was because the values that are the Boy Scouts are American values, traditional American values.  That room last night, as I said in my remarks before presenting Roger, that room was America, and it's values like that are going to save this country.  And we have one sound bite from Roger last night, the Fox cameras were there, and just one little clip of his acceptance speech but I want you to hear it.

AILES:  Every generation gets called to meet a challenge.  This generation will as well.  I am heartened to know that what the enemies of America don't know is that someday they will meet the courage, resilience, dedication of these young Americans we are so proud of, and they will keep America free.

RUSH:  Now, we're obviously having a hard drive problem with our computer.  I hope we got our Carbonite worked up because we don't play tape. When I say let's go to the audio sound bite we're actually playing off disc.  But it was just a wonderful night, and it was heartfelt, and it was just like being in America 30 years ago, 40 years ago, all these young scouts running around in uniform, and they were part of the ceremony as well.  They presented the colors, did the Pledge of Allegiance, everybody knew the words to the Pledge of Allegiance, everybody was happy and proud to recite the words to the Pledge of Allegiance.  Roger got up there in his opening remarks and I'm sitting at the head table right next to him and his son Zack and his wife Beth, and Roger says, "I want to say something to all of the Republicans and all the Democrats in the room tonight," and I shouted, "Who are the Democrats here?"  And Roger didn't miss a beat, he looked around the room and said, "Geraldo." Geraldo Rivera was there, there were a lot of Fox people there last night, it was a great night and I was honored to be a part of it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  Since we've got the hard drive problem fixed up there -- and I really wanted the fix delayed.  I've got Obama sound bites coming up and I wanted to play the Obama sound bites through our fractured hard drive.  But they got it fixed.  Since you got it fixed, can you grab sound bite 19, Ailes again, and play it without the distractions of the hard drive? Let me know when you have that ready to go.  All right!  Let's roll the dice here, folks. Cross the fingers. Hope and pray that the fix actually hasn't been fixed so that we can use the broken hard drive playing the Obama bites coming up soon.

AILES:  Every generation gets called to meet a challenge.

RUSH:  It's fixed.

AILES:  This generation will as well.  I am heartened to know that what the enemies of America don't know is that someday they will meet the courage, resilience, dedication of these young Americans we are so proud of, and they will keep America free.

RUSH:  Roger Ailes last night receiving a 2009 Scout Award from the Westchester-Putnam Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Pelosi: Jail for Those Who Refuse to Buy Health Insurance is "Fair"
Merry Christmas, America! It's Obamacare or jail.
November 12, 2009

Pelosi:  Jail "Very Fair" for Those Who Balk

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: This is last Monday in Seattle at a Swedish Medical Center press conference.  Pelosi spoke to the press.  A news reporter, Shomari Stone, said, "Do you think it's fair to send people to jail for not buying health insurance?"

PELOSI:  For a long time now people who haven't had health care or provided it have placed the burden on others.  Everybody is paying the price for uncompensated care.  I don't need to tell you that in a hospital.  And so what this is is to say we all have to do our part and that is the point of the bill.

STONE:  But, Madam Speaker, I'm just trying to understand.  If you don't buy health insurance, you go to jail?  You didn't answer my question.

PELOSI:  There -- there is, uh, uh -- there is -- I think the legislation is very fair in this respect.

RUSH:  There you have it.  I mean it's not a mistake in there.  "What are you in for?"  "Yeah, I'm here for rape, incest and murder, what are you here for?"  "I didn't buy health insurance." (laughing)  We all have to do our part.  We all have to do our part.  Now, as I mentioned an hour ago, Obama is going to purge all the Republicans from the federal civil service retroactive to five years ago.  We keep our eyes on Venezuela to find out where we might be headed and Cuba.  We're talking about political prisoners here, and it's unconstitutional anyway for the federal government to mandate that anybody buy anything.  And don't give me this automobile insurance because not everybody has to buy it. People that don't have cars don't have to buy it, people that don't have driver's licenses and don't drive don't have to buy it and automobile insurance you buy to protect against people that hit you, or that you hit.  You're not insuring yourself per se.  The analogy just doesn't work.  So yesterday in Washington, the speaker of the House continued speaking to the press and described her health care bill as such.

PELOSI:  I'm confident, I'm hopeful that we will have a bill as a Christmas present to the American people.

RUSH:  A Christmas present to the American people.  Yeah.  Imagine.  They're going to give us all this wonderful Christmas present stuff.  We didn't get 'em anything.  Rather have coal is right.

RUSH: This is Pearl in Sacramento, my adopted hometown.  Nice to have you on the program, Pearl.

CALLER:  Yes.  I'm on?

RUSH:  You're on!

CALLER:  All right.  I agree with everything that you have said, Rush.  I love your show. I just have a question, a couple comments to make if I could.

RUSH:  Sure.  Go ahead.

CALLER:  I'm just absolutely terrified of the debt we're accumulating, and I feel like -- and wonder what your opinion is -- that Obama would sign any bill, sign the health care bill, no matter how much it cost, even if it were several trillion dollars, and no matter how many taxes it gets on low-income people.  And I wondered if you would agree with that, and also Pelosi made millions of dollars in marsh mice research in California, while SFI [Supplemental Security Income] for seniors, low-income people was cut three times this year.

RUSH:  Yeah.  But Obama is going to be sending you a $250 bonus check to make up for your cost of living allowance that's not going to happen this year.

CALLER:  Oh, well, that's wonderful. I'm so happy over that.

RUSH:  No, you're absolutely right.  Obama will sign anything that says "health care reform" on it, no matter what the price, no matter what the cost, no matter what the taxes are, no matter what the taxes are on who. He will sign it.

CALLER:  Mmm-hmm. I agree.  You know, I hope seniors -- if this passes, I hope seniors -- turn themselves in en masse to jails instead of paying their premiums.  I hope they do.

RUSH:  Well, you know, what? Here we go. Here's my Media Tweak of the Day.  Here's my Media Tweak of the Day.  Adolf Hitler put people in jail to reduce his unemployment numbers.  And Nancy Pelosi, who called us, a bunch of Nazis running around with "swah-stih-kahs" just said that it's very fair to jail people who don't accept the burden of paying for health insurance.  Well, you go, I mean history is history.  I'm not going to sit here and ignore it. I'm not going to PC this program. I'm not going to PC this audience.  Thanks, Pearl, great to hear from you.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: By the way, the Media Tweak of the Day: Hitler put people in jail to lower the unemployment numbers.  Another media tweak: that's how Dachau started.  We have 35 seconds if you think we should bleep our edit this out.  I, frankly, think we should not.  I didn't say anything about Obama there.  I'm just giving a little historical truth.  This is all about Pelosi, this is all -- (interruption) how many seconds we got before we bleep it, 20?  I'm not going to bleep it out, Snerdley.  Look, this is Pelosi.  She called us Nazis, swastikas during the tea parties.  Now they call us tea baggers.  She said it's okay to put people in jail for not buying health insurance.  Well, historical context.  We can't bleep it now, Snerdley, the delay went by.  (laughing)

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: This is Chris in Rochester, New Hampshire.  Great to have you here.  Hello.

CALLER:  Hey. Great to talk to you, Rush.

RUSH:  Thank you.

CALLER:  My mom said to send her love.  I wanted to make a quick comment -- well, I got a couple quick comments first one is about Pelosi and that interviewed she gave --

RUSH:  Yeah?

CALLER:  -- about people who don't have insurance being a drain on the system.  What exactly does she think that long-term welfare assistance are and illegal aliens? How does she compare those two?

RUSH:  Well, again, you're asking a question with the wrong frame or premise, because Pelosi's all for people on welfare.

CALLER:  Right.

RUSH:  They want as many people dependent as possible.  Those are the people Pelosi and Obama love.  They are Democrat voters.  What they want to do is punish the wealthy who refuse to buy insurance because they don't need it, don't want it, or what have you.  This is all about an attack on the wealthy and taking as much of what they have as possible and punishing them for it.

CALLER:  Ah.  Completely ridiculous.

RUSH:  Yeah, so as far as they're concerned, there aren't any contradictions.  There aren't any contradictions.  And they're not hypocrites.  You just have to understand. You know, these people are tyrannical.  I myself, I ask this question all the time: How stupid do they think we are?  They don't even care about that.  They do look at us with contempt.  What they want is for us to be powerless.  When we are powerless to stop them, that's when they're happy.  Whether we're smart, dumb, whether we get it or don't get it, they don't care.  They just want us to have the inability -- or not have it. I'll do it the right way. They don't want us to have the ability to stop them, and that's where they're headed. That's what their objective is.

White House Can Use TARP Slush Fund to Buy Votes for Obamacare
Democrats will do whatever it takes to pass this bill.
November 12, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: "The Senate could still use budget rules to pass healthcare without 60 votes, the White House indicated Monday.  President Barack Obama is hopeful that the Senate will pass a healthcare bill with 60 votes, but White House press secretary Robert Gibbs held out the possibility that budget reconciliation rules could still be used."  The White House is trying to tell the Senate what the hell to do.  That means Rahm Emanuel is running this show.  They know they're in trouble over there.  By the way, I want to say something to you here so that you do not get alarmed.  There's big news that Harry Reid's going to introduce the legislation next week.  That was always going to happen, that's nothing, and he's going to get 60 votes, he needs 60 votes to get it to the floor, and he will.  That was in the cards.

That doesn't mean anything right now.  That is a fait accompli.  It's going to be treated as some major achievement as overcoming some big obstacle, but it's not.  This is just to start the debate.  The next time the 60 votes is required will matter, and that's to stop the debate and thus go to the vote.  That's called cloture.  The Senate requires the 60 votes, essentially, to pass anything.  And where budget reconciliation comes into play is that there is one exception to the 60-vote cloture rule and that is a simple majority, 51, to pass a budget, because the budget is required by the Constitution.  So that's the exception, and that's called reconciliation in the Senate.  And the White House is now talking about using that for health care legislation, which they will do if they can't get the 60, they'll do it in a last minute desperation act. (interruption) Of course they're breaking their own rules but they -- you know, Snerdley is saying it's not an appropriations bill and therefore they're breaking their own rules.  Snerdley, this whole thing is unconstitutional.  What do you mean, breaking their own rules?

It's unconstitutional to mandate the American people buy anything.  This is ridiculous, but it is what it is.  Do you think people who will write in their bill that you can go to jail for not buying health insurance care about their rules?  Do you think a bunch of people that are going to purge all Republicans from the federal civil service care about rules?  We've gotta stop looking at these people within the normal confines of what civility and democracy and all that stuff. They're not small D Democrats in any way, shape, manner, or form.  Purging Republicans from everywhere in the federal government, that's what Marxists do.  Ignore the rules of a particular body of legislation, the Senate, to get something done, no big deal.  Did you think that anybody who would create what are essentially two slush funds, TARP and the stimulus, care about rules?

The TARP and stimulus money, let me explain, this is Chicago thug politics.  This is how this works.  In the normal ebb and flow of government, if you want money, you have to go to through the legislative process and have it appropriated for something, and you have to be honest about what it's for.  So TARP was to save the financial system from collapse and stimulus was to create jobs.  Guess what?  Over half the TARP money is still there, and after the TARP bill was passed and the money was appropriated, guess what changed immediately by fiat?  The rules under which it would be spent.  It was originally to provide capital for lending, for the credit markets.  And as soon as it was passed, Hank Paulson said we're going to change it, we're going to use this as bailout money, and it was supposed to buy toxic assets as well, but screw the toxic assets, we'll leave 'em toxic, we're going to use this for bailouts like General Motors and the banks and so forth.  They dragged the banks in there and they demanded that they sign a document requiring them to take $25 billion each, minimum.  Then the stimulus bill, only 14% of it has been spent, and it's a trillion dollars when you factor in the $200-plus billions of pork money they had to buy off members of Congress with to get them to vote for the $787 billion of stimulus.  It's largely unspent.

So what was created was two slush funds.  There are two piles of cash out there that everybody thinks is going to go to shovel-ready jobs and infrastructure and schools and putting people back to work and getting credit flowing again and buying up toxic assets.  And that's not what's happening.  How do you think they're buying off members of Congress to pass health care?  They got a stash of cash, folks.  It's Obama's stash.  Those people in Detroit, when asked where their money is coming from, "From Obama, his stash." It's exactly right.  They didn't know it, but it's exactly right.  This is one giant slush fund that this government is using to pay off -- if they need the AMA, if they need the AARP, if they need an individual congressman, if need to pay off a union -- this is what they're doing.  It was appropriated under totally false pretenses after having created a crisis so that everybody would support the passage lickety-split before anybody knew what was going on.

I think largely health care is going to end up being much the same thing.  This is how these people operate, this is how Chicago thug politics -- and, you know, Clinton described it as that, Chicago thug politics.  So not to beat a dead horse here, but two slush funds, unspent, TARP money -- that's why they can talk about -- and they're not going to do it, by the way, because it's ridiculous, but they're talking about using some of the unspent TARP money to reduce the deficit.  So this unspent TARP money, a lot of unspent stimulus money at the slush fund.

Rep. Steve King Tells It Like It Is
The Iowa Republican calls out Obama's Chicago thugs.
November 12, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Steve King, Republican from Iowa, continues to tell it like it is.  And, frankly, we need more Republicans like this guy.  The Washington News Observer interviewed Steve King and a reporter said, "What is your opinion of Valerie Jarrett, who is the female consigliere for Obama?"

KING:  Valerie Jarrett is a product of Chicago politics, the Rahm Emanuel, Barack Obama, son and daughter of Saul Alinsky, linked up with Mayor Daley, the Chicago machine, we know what it is.  Someone called it gangster government.  In Chicago you have gangster government.  Valerie Jarrett's been in the middle of that and the links she has with William Ayers and other nefarious characters in Chicago tell us what we've got in the White House itself.  I mean she's there, there are a number of links directly to Chicago, Rahm Emanuel, Valerie Jarrett, and they go back to Chicago.

RUSH:  And don't forget it was Bill Clinton who used this term, thug politics when talking about Obama. It was during the 2008 presidential primaries.  Montel Williams, you know, there's a lot of lunacy on the left.  Chris Matthews is actually losing it I think, and I don't say this to get a laugh.  I think, folks, we are driving 'em nuts.  They are more afraid of or consider us their biggest enemy, no foreign enemy comes even as close to frightening them and worrying them as conservatives do in this country.

Children of EIB Respond to Children of WWF

The World Wildlife Fund kids have some competition.
November 12, 2009

Video at link below.

Parody:  The Kids of EIB Respond to WWF

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Remember a couple of days ago we had audio/video.  Well, it's actually audio, but there's video of children of staff members at the World Wildlife Fund, a video on that website urging President Obama to go to Copenhagen and save the planet.

BOY:  The world's top scientists agree that climate change is the most...
GIRL: ...serious threat to ever face our planet.
GIRL: It's coming faster and hitting harder than expected.
GIRL: Droughts and floods and hurricanes are getting worse!
GIRL: It's affecting our water supply...
GIRL: ...and our ability to grow crops.
BOY:  America the beautiful might not be so beautiful anymore.
BOY:  Important ecosystems like the Amazon and the Arctic...
BOY:  ...will be damaged forever.
BOY:  Really cool animals like polar bears --
GIRL: ...and walruses will lose their habitat.
GIRL: We're pushing our planet past the point of no return.

RUSH:  These people are shameless.  They are using their own kids, using their own kids, scaring their own kids for the express purpose of spreading propaganda all over the country.  There are three of these.  Here's the second one.

GIRL: But, there is hope.
GIRL: In December...
GIRL: ...192 countries...
GIRL: ...will gather...
GIRL: ...at the UN climate change conference in Copenhagen.
GIRL: That's in Denmark.
BOY:  Copenhagen is the best chance we have...
GIRL: ...to come together and help save the planet.
GIRL: We must act quickly...
GIRL: ...with great courage and conviction.
GIRL: We have to be brave right now.
GIRL: The rest of the world is ready.
GIRL: Germany.
GIRL: Mexico.
GIRL: Bangladesh.
GIRL: Japan.
GIRL: India.
GIRL: France.
GIRL: Brazil.
GIRL: And China.  They want to find a way to save the planet from devastating climate change.
BOY:  So why would the United States stand in everybody else's way?
GIRL:  I don't know.

RUSH:  This is just infuriating.  It's also funny and the third thing it is is amazing.  I mean these are huge libs at the World Wildlife Fund.  They believe in abortion.  The fact they got kids at all is shocking.  The point is that these kids are being brainwashed, they're being lied to, and then they're being used to spread propaganda by their parents.

GIRL:  President Barack Obama, please.
GIRL:  Please.
BOY:  Please.
GIRL:  We need you, President Obama ...
GIRL: ... to go to Copenhagen.
GIRL:  It's right here, Mr. P'wesident.
GIRL:  We need you to be there to help America be a leader.
GIRL:  A leader.
GIRL:  To find the answer ...
GIRL: ... to save the polar bears ...
GIRL: ... the walruses, and the planet.
GIRL:  We are counting on you.
GIRL:  We're counting on you.
GIRL:  All of us.
GIRL:  My entire generation is counting on you.
GIRL:  Counting on you.
GIRL:  Counting on you.
GIRL:  Do you think he knows how to get to Copenhagen?

RUSH:  Yeah, wasn't he just there?  Didn't he go to Copenhagen to try to convince the Olympic committee to bring the Olympics to Chicago?  Wasn't it Copenhagen he went to?  It wasn't?  Where was it?  Oh, it was Oslo.  No, that's Nobel.  Oslo is Nobel.  He won't go there 'til December.  It was Copenhagen so, yeah, he knows where.  Ladies and gentlemen, the children of EIB heard this and demanded a chance to respond.

GIRL:  Dear President Obama:  Recently some whiny kids.
BOY:  From the World Wildlife Fund.
GIRL:  Asked you to go to the global climate summit in Copenhagen.
GIRL:  Don't waste your time.
BOY:  Or our future.
GIRL:  They just want to shake America down for some dough.
GIRL:  Hurricanes are not becoming more numerous.
BOY:  Or destructive.
GIRL:  But putting Third World dictators in charge of our economy will be.
GIRL:  Forcing us to ride bicycles for the rest of our lives.
BOY:  Won't save a polar bear.
BOY:  Help a walrus.
GIRL:  Or change the temperature of the earth.
BOY:  How do we know?
GIRL:  We listen to Rush Limbaugh.
BOY:  And you should, too.
ALL:  We're the children of EIB.
GIRL:  And we approved this message.
ALL:  Mmm, mmm, mmm.
GIRL:  He doesn't listen to Rush Limbaugh?  How can he run the country?

RUSH:  The children of EIB stand up and demand to be heard here on the EIB Network.

When he played that audio of little kids saying “please, mr. obama, save the walruses,” I literally almost threw up. I mean literally as I felt the bile pushing up into my throat and I was about to bolt to the restroom (and I was sober and at work).

Thank God Rush was there with his tummy-settling response — and his kids sounded like they understood what they were saying. I never knew laughter to be like Pepto before...
