The UIN - Unique Identification Number

Finally, after a year of headlines we are beginning to see the clear picture at hand when it comes to Nandan Nilekani's vision for issuing every Indian a UIN, Unique Identification Number. At first glance it would have been thought is was nothing much, possibly a variation on the US's Social Security Number. At closer inspection however, you can see many layers that one would not have imagined. Nandan Nilekani co-founded Infosys, one of India's leading information technology companies, back in 1981. After serving as its president and then CEO, he's now joined the Indian government to help lead a massive new IT project: providing every Indian with a unique identity card. to concentrate on his next great endeavor: re-imagining India in the new millennium.

In recent weeks it has been revealed that Mr. Nilekani seeks to monetized the UIN as well as have it directly linked to ones biometrics, which would include all 10 fingerprints. Last week through the National Population Register (NPR) it was announced that the 2011 Census requirements of biometric fingerprints was to help target each person for various programs and schemes and link them directly to a system that would offer “real time population data”. This project also aims to give 1.2 billion citizens biometric identity cards that will have the ability to help millions of poor gain access to many services they otherwise would not be able to. Think about it, “To obtain the pension, the beneficiary has to implant his finger impression on a device with a business correspondent engaged by the bank and only if the impression matches with the one to whom a bio-metric card has been issued, then only the amount is released,” said SBI bank official.

Identification has always been a huge problem for India with many persons never identified from birth. Whole households with no means to identify themselves. This effects them on every level from the simple things like the purchase of a cell phone to the more useful and important services as opening a bank account, seeking employment . In most cases an address cannot be verified either because the poor live in slums or on the streets and have nothing to provide to prove who or where they are from. "This project is pro-poor and inclusive targeted mainly towards the poor. The middle class and the rich have some form of identity. People on the margins are getting lost because of lack of identity," Mr Nilekani said.

Mr. Nilekani's intention is to provide access to all persons state benefits that before only had available to those with means. Money. The whole idea is to include everyone into the System. Meaning everyone. This does not verify ones citizenship, but residency. This number will be issued from cradle to grave with no possibly of duplication. Hence for added measure the inclusion of biometrics. It has been said that India's efforts at giving every citizen an identity number is possibly one of the greatest challenges facing the government. What could this mean? Universal Financial Inclusion in India. Bank access, health insurance for all.

Nilekani is not alone in this venture, in fact he has some pretty impressive partners that seek their piece of the pie. IBM for one, and none other then Bill Gates of Microsoft. In August IBM began dialogue with partners in India to position itself in the project and shortly before Mr. Gates met with Nandan Nilekani to ensure his part in this monumental scheme. "The World Bank has offered to assist the government in re-structuring the Public Distribution System (PDS), the Delhi government is set to soon initiate a pilot project to launch its ‘cash for food’ program in the Capital. This is seen as the first step in overhauling the system." It would seem absolutely nothing should go wrong, with a Dream Team such as this put together.

In India in another three to four years, you will be known not by name, but by a unique identity (UID) number. Will this set a precedent for the rest of the world in the near future? Or have we already seen similar projects in other countries that could strip our identity and we become nothing more then a bit of information assimilated into a system. I know I have my opinion. Hopefully as this information begins to sink in, you will begin to see a bigger picture.

Imagine the implications of this - you can see the UN getting their hands on this if they haven't already got something better in the wings!

I wouldn't be surprised if we already have UIN's here in America.

I took in some scrap metal a few days ago to the recycling yard and I had to show a picture I.D. and give them a thumbprint before they gave me my lousy 26 dollars.

I know I have an S.S.# but something tells me there's something out there even more unique to me.

Thanks for the ping!

We are moving steadily and inexorably to a one world government and an identifying mark which every human being on the face of the earth will be forced to have, if they don't take it willingly.

It makes sense to plan to start the numbering of everyone with the nations who have the largest populations.

Another day, another news account of a fulfillment of Bible prophecy!

Obviously, the SSN in the United States is a pretty faulty method of identification - there is plenty of fraud and errors in it. Anytime you suggest some sort of secure and comprehensive identification method here - you catch a $hitstorm of criticism from those who are paranoid about privacy concerns.

OK, then do it like the “Safe Traveler” credentials program which are offered at some airports for frequent travelers willing to undergo a background and identity verification process - i.e., make it voluntary.

It won’t be comprehensive, because some will opt out. But they can chose to do that, and as long as government services are both required to use a high level of verification, and allowed to recognize and utilize the secure and advanced credentials system (with some attendant benefit in terms of speed or cost to the identified citizen), what’s the problem?

What amazes me the most about stuff like this, are the Christians who don't believe or deny we are in the days of the end times.

Stuff that was prohecy when I was a kid, is RAPIDLY becoming reality TODAY.

The more I read stuff like this, which seems almost daily now, the more I believe the second coming will be in my lifetime. I'm thinking within the next few years (or sooner :)

SOLZHENITSYN…HE TRIED TO WARN US

By: Pastor Bill Randles

”“Wisdom cries out loud in the streets, she raises her voice in the squares…” Proverbs 1:20

Harvard’s motto is “Veritas”. Many of you have already found out, and others will find out in the course of their lives, that truth eludes us if we do not concentrate our attention totally on its pursuit. But even while it eludes us, the illusion of knowing it still lingers and leads to many misunderstandings. (From Solzhenitsyn’s 1978 Harvard address “A World Split Apart”)

Alexander Solzhenitsyn, a Nobel Prize winning author, Soviet dissident and a survivor of an eight year sentence in the brutal Soviet Gulag system, passed away yesterday in Russia. He had been exiled from his homeland for his writings, in 1974, and lived in Vermont until 1994 when he was able to return to Russia.

His passing is being largely noted because he was useful in exposing to the outside world the brutality and suppression of the Soviet system, through novels based upon his own experiences in the Gulags, such as “A DAY IN THE LIFE OF IVAN DENISOVICH”, and “CANCER WARD”. His non-fiction expose, “THE GULAG ARCHIPILAGO” had to be smuggled out of the USSR and published first in France. It was this particular book which led to his banishment from Russia.

What will perhaps not be as appreciated as it should be is the fact that Solzhenitsyn used the occasion of a Harvard Laureate Award in 1978 to offer a warning to the West that was both stinging and timely. Unfortunately the warning largely went unreceived, as always “A prophet is without honor …”. The speech, “A World Split Apart” created a firestorm of controversy, warning the West of its spiritual emptiness and blindness. Presidents Ford and Carter snubbed him, his wife Rosalyn repudiated the speech at the National Press Club, and there were editorials in the New York Times and the Washington Post, among others, which railed against the speech.

What did he say that caused him to go from a ‘cause celebre’ to almost a pariah? Among other things, he called us on our failure of courage,

A decline in courage may be the most striking feature, which an outside observer notices in the West in our days. The Western world has lost its civil courage, both as a whole and separately, in each country, each government, each political party, and, of course, in the United Nations. Such a decline in courage is particularly noticeable among the ruling groups and the intellectual elite, causing an impression of loss of courage by the entire society. Of course, there are many courageous individuals, but they have no determining influence on public life. (“A WORLD SPLIT APART”)

He warned us that we were losing the courage to defend our own civilization, that especially in our leadership, self serving calculation was taking the place of real conviction and that the outcome would be devastating. Solzhenitsyn warns us,

Should one point out that from ancient times declining courage has been considered the beginning of the end? (ibid)

Solzhenitsyn then offers a diagnosis as to what happened to make us lose courage - the false belief that individual freedom would guarantee happiness - as in “The Pursuit of Happiness”, although he warns us that the meaning of word ‘happiness’ has been debased lately -

Every citizen has been granted the desired freedom and material goods in such quantity and of such quality as to guarantee in theory the achievement of happiness — in the morally inferior sense of the word which has come into being during those same decades. (ibid)

Freedom without restraint has not given us ‘happiness’. In fact, Solzhenitsyn charged that such ‘freedom’ is the cause of much of the depression and disillusionment that characterizes western society.

Ironically, on top of the rebuttal of our concept of freedom, he accused us of becoming a hyper legalistic society. See if this doesn’t speak to the situation as it stands today-

People in the West have acquired considerable skill in interpreting and manipulating law. Any conflict is solved according to the letter of the law and this is considered to be the supreme solution. If one is right from a legal point of view, nothing more is required. Nobody will mention that one could still not be entirely right, and urge self-restraint, a willingness to renounce such legal rights, sacrifice and selfless risk. It would sound simply absurd. One almost never sees voluntary self-restraint. Everybody operates at the extreme limit of those legal frames. (ibid)

It is this “skill” at the use of the letter of the law in the very face of the ‘spirit’ of the law that has developed into the “Death of Common Sense” as the title of a book written by a Federal Judge decries. How else is it that the enemies of our civilization have even a prayer of destroying us, other than through our courts, and the very ‘legalistic spirit’ our friend Solzhenitsyn warned us of? On this point he rightly concludes that such use of legalism will lead to two evils - the paralysis of true leadership and the inability to resist societal evil.

Destructive and irresponsible freedom has been granted boundless space. Society appears to have little defense against the abyss of human decadence, such as, for example, misuse of liberty for moral violence against young people, such as motion pictures full of pornography, crime, and horror. It is considered to be part of freedom and theoretically counterbalanced by the young people’s right not to look or not to accept. Life organized legalistically has thus shown its inability to defend itself against the corrosion of evil. (ibid)

We didn’t have to wait very long to see the words of this prophecy come to pass - within ten years of Solzhenitsyn’s Harvard address, President Reagan’s Counsel on Pornography failed to even be able to agree on a definition of pornography. Do “we the people” really want pornography, gay marriage, abortion or Sharia law? Absolutely not, but unfortunately for us the pornographers, Sodomites, Eugenicists and CAIR are all able to successfully employ legal counsel, in a legalistic system to impose their will to the devastation of our society! Exactly what Alexander Solzhenitsyn warned us of in 1978.

Perhaps it was his critique of our flawed analysis of human nature that stung us the most, our humanism leads us to deny the effects of the fall. Therefore freedom without corresponding sense of responsibility to the spirit tilts towards evil.

Such a tilt of freedom in the direction of evil has come about gradually, but it was evidently born primarily out of a humanistic and benevolent concept according to which there is no evil inherent to human nature. The world belongs to mankind and all the defects of life are caused by wrong social systems, which must be corrected. (ibid)

No wonder he was so ill received! He was “messing with our religion” of a humanistic Utopian “Brave New World”.

I have no doubt he was rejected largely because he diagnosed our problem as being the same problem the Russian people suffered from, Humanism!

There is a disaster, however, which has already been under way for quite some time. I am referring to the calamity of a despiritualized and irreligious humanistic consciousness. To such consciousness, man is the touchstone in judging everything on earth — imperfect man, who is never free of pride, self-interest, envy, vanity, and dozens of other defects. We are now experiencing the consequences of mistakes which had not been noticed at the beginning of the journey (ibid)

I am in danger of reposting the entire speech to you but my commentary really doesn’t do it justice - read it yourself at http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/alexandersolzhenitsynharvard.htm and realize that we were officially warned thirty years ago, and for the most part have failed to heed the warning which has been validated by history point by point.

The solution? Solzhenitsyn calls us to nothing short of spiritual renewal, a return to the “Christian roots” of our humanism and a rejection of the “ossified “ dogmas of the Enlightenment. Almost anticipating the current Islamic Jihad, he warned us that without spiritual renewal, the humanistic and Godless west would be rendered “unable to resist the East”.

Rest in peace Alexander Solzhenitsyn. You warned us.

All they need to is attach ‘Ethnicity’ and ‘Religion’ to the UIN and genocide can be quick and easy!

If only they’d had this in Rwanda.

Anytime you suggest some sort of secure and comprehensive identification method here - you catch a $hitstorm of criticism from those who are paranoid about privacy concerns.

Certainly I dentity theft is a problem. But a Universal Identifier Number is simply the nose of the camel.

"The World Bank has offered to assist the government in re-structuring the Public Distribution System (PDS), the Delhi government is set to soon initiate a pilot project to launch its ‘cash for food’ program in the Capital.

the real goal is a cashless society. An economic system where the government can track and tax every transaction.

Picture a day in the not too distant future where you will not be able to have a garage sale with out a vendor’s license where you will have to have a terminal tied in to a central bank computer.

If you want to make a private off the books sale of even the smallest item it will have to be on a purely barter bases because there is no legal currency out side of a government computer network.

Personally I am not willing to surrender my anonymity.

Personally I buy and sell guns frequently on a person-to-person basis. No background check, No record of any transaction what so ever. In a cashless society there would be a defacto gun registration system because every gun purchase would be recorded in a government computer no matter where it happened.

Any voluntary system would not stay voluntary for long. Eventually commercial business would opt out of the cash system because of the added expense of handling cash. (Just consider the expenses today of moving cash around; armored cars, security guards, safes). If the number of people using cash becomes small enough the pressure to go cashless will become immense.

Cash is the enabler of crime but is also the enabler of economic freedom.

“Another day, another news account of a fulfillment of Bible prophecy!”

- Which may not come around for 500 years. Our vision wavers when we start assigning dates to end-times scenarios. For all we know that sort of global technology might require some advanced nanotech that won’t be available till 2099.

It may not come around for another 500 years but the thing is, all the signs that Christ commanded us to see as they happen and would happen before He returns are here.

So, maybe the ongoing, active plans to establish a one-world government will continue for another 500 years, and maybe the technology which now exists to number every person on earth will be put on hold for 500 years, and maybe the alliances which are being cemented among the players listed in the Ezekiel 39 and 39 prophecy, who will attempt to invade Israel, will be put on hold for another 500 years, and maybe the ongoing, already-announced plans to rebuild the Jewish Temple, which, as we're told in Scripture will be in existence during the seven-year Tribulation, will continue for another 500 years, and maybe the decedents of the Old Testament Levite priests who have been located in Israel and who are, as we speak, being trained to carry out the rituals and sacrifices for that soon-to-be-rebuilt Third Temple will be training for the next 500 years, and on and on and on.

Somehow, something tells me that all of these signs which are happening in our time tell us that Christ's return is very near.

I don't think we're going to have to wait long at all- much less 500 years. And my vision hasn't waivered at all, but has come into much sharper focus, believe me.

My general feeling on this is that everyone who *wants* Christ’s return to be imminent, instead of far off into the future, will wish indeed that they hadn’t wished so strongly when they see their family being carted off to the gallows (or the loss of their job, reputation, livelihood, etc).

Even Paul thought Christ was coming back in his own lifetime, and if he was wrong, how wrong are all the “Endtimes” scholars?

Yes we are!

When I was a kid and heard Preachers talk about the mark of the beast, I just couldn't imagine that actually happening - but it's getting closer and closer to reality. I'm starting to think that we are truly living in the end times.

Did Paul really believe that Christ was coming in his lifetime? Here is Paul speaking to the Thessalonian church:

II Thessalonians 2:1-12

1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you,

2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come.

3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,

4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things?

6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time.

7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.

8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.

9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,

10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie,

12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Paul made it clear to the Thessalonians that Christ could not return to set up His kingdom until "the One Who restrains is removed - until the Rapture takes place, the Body of Christ (His Church) is taken off the scene, and that "One Who restrains", the Holy Spirit, Who does His work through the Church, is removed.

And, as long as they, the Thessalonian church, was still on the earth, along with the rest of Christ's Church, then the Antichrist had not made his appearance, and the time for Christ's return was not yet.

Paul could not have been more clear that he did not think that Christ's return would happen in his time.

And my gut feeling is that everyone who denies reality, who denies the evidence of Christ's soon return that is happening right in front of their faces, are usually not sure that they are ready for Him to come and have no security about where they stand with God, and therefore try to make themselves feel better by convincing not only themselves but everyone else that the return of Christ, if it happens at all, is millions of years away.
