Romney accuses Obama of not protecting troops

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney delivered a scathing criticism of President Obama's Afghanistan strategy Friday night, accusing the president of delivering rhetoric and not action in the war-torn country.

Quoting from a speech Obama delivered in March, Romney agreed with the president "that 'we are in Afghanistan to confront a common enemy that threatens the United States, our friends and allies."' Romney continued on seconding the president: "I believe 'that to succeed, we and our friends and allies must reverse the Taliban's gains, and promote a more capable and accountable Afghan government.'"

The anti-Romney crowd hates him more than Obama.

I am sure you can back that up of course...

As for me I don't like socialism, regardless of who brings it to me. As a conservative I am funny that way.

Romney is a right leaning moderate

...who imposed a miniature version of Obamacare on the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, much to the glee of far-left radicals like the late Ted Kennedy!

The health care conversion to mandatory health insurance in Massachusetts did not save anyone anything! Mass has tons of hospitals so you wouldn’t even be able to measure different states against the failed Mass plan that would fail worse anywhere else! Thanks so very much Romney!

Romney didn't “IMPOSE” their health plan. They wanted it. Romney let a conservative think tank design it. Then he refereed the Demos and Repubs to a consensus. He vetoed about nine things he didn't like in the con census. They overrode the vetoes. And it has changed some since he left. So he was involved, but he didn't push it down their throats.

Why, I oppose Mitt based on the fact he is a lib, the same reason the majority of FR memebrs here oppose him, the same reason you should if you are indeed a Conservative poster on this board. It is more than sufficient grounds.

The LDS thing was an after the election Bonus for me actually, in large part due to the antics of his “supporters” here on FR.

These threads on Romney are predictable. I read them to find amusement. The anti-Romney crowd hates him more than Obama.

Between two political groups, one can't pick the opposition's candidate but they can sure get involved in picking their own side's candidate and the site that you are signed on to and posting on right now is dedicated largely to that very purpose with the proviso that the candidate has to represent conservatism.

Romney didn't “IMPOSE” their health plan.

O RLY?! Then why is he taking credit for the plan and praising its results???

"We have a plan in Massachusetts that is working pretty well. It has flaws. It's not perfect, but it is making a difference here." (2009-11-09)

"The Republican Party has put out a lot of health care plans," he said. Only Massachusetts has got everyone insured, he said. "Republicans have led on this." (2009-10-10)

"I like what we did in Massachusetts. I think it works in Massachusetts." (2009-10-01)

“It’s working like we had hoped it would work,” the one-time republic presidential candidate said. “We got nearly everybody in Massachusetts health insurance, which really, something people didn't think was possible.” Romney said the same can be done nationwide... (2009-07-09)

"It's working well. We got 440,000 more people insured than when the plan was put in place, it costs less than 2 percent of the state budget -- it's a plan that's working, it's a good model." (2009-07-01)

Trying to defend Romney is like walking out naked in front of machine gunners.

Romney’s record of perfidy and political relativism is well documented.

That magic Mormon underwear cinching up on you again Mitt? Do your flip-floppin' a$$ a big favour and go back to running all those LDS corporations where you belong.

Read our conservative lips... You-Will-Never-Be-POTUS. You are simply wasting your time, energy and money.

Here's how to calculate your chances, Mitt:

IF (Mitt's book sales) > (Sarah's book sales) THEN run for POTUS

IF (Sarah's book sales) > (Mitt's book sales) THEN run for cover

Except for cheap abortion on demand...just $50.00. Guess by your analysis he liked that.

“Romney can call upon the deep military history of his family to assure us he’d be a better military leader.”

Agreed. That’s why I loved Fred Thompson. He and both of his sons served in armed forces. It is American way to require that civilian leaders and their sons serve in the military. Otherwise, they should not talk about issues involving armed forces.

With the Romneybots you always have to start at the beginning and say everything over again, it is almost like cult deprogramming to reveal the true Romney to some of his followers.

He says it is a good model. That is correct. It is a model that we can now look at and see what we like and don't like about it. It is good as a model, but it is not necessarily good as a model for the nation to adopt.

The primary requirement the people of MA were wanting was a system that insured everyone. The primary thing Romney wanted was to keep the operation in the private sector.
Romney said they wanted to make it cost effective, but that is not where all the effort went in getting it started. He thinks it needs more work on that.

However, I agree with you. He had better start saying what he has reservations on, or he owns it.

I think the Republicans and conservatives can't just say what is wrong with the Demo plan or the MA plan. They have to say what their solution to the problem is. I like some of the ideas we have been hearing: tort reform, competition across borders, health care savings accounts that you get to keep if you don't use it up, much reduced mandates, availability of catastrophic insurance. I think if illegal aliens show up at ERs, they should be treated and immediately sent back to their country of origin. I think if women (and their sperm donors) throw themselves on the mercy of the system for abortions, the system has the right to tie their tubes (both partners). I think the uninsured get to abuse the system only once, and then they are required to carry insurance. Etc.
