Bigoted Religious Extremists [Guess which religion's bigotry Ft. Hood demonstrates]
Time ^ | 11-16-09

There are today several odious attempts by Jewish extremists, like this one by Martin Peretz and this one by La Pasionaria of the Neocons, to argue that the massacre perpetrated by Nidal Hasan was somehow a direct consequence of his Islamic beliefs as opposed to a direct consequence of his insanity. To be sure, extreme religious beliefs and violent insanity are not mutually exclusive. Indeed, they tend to track--among fanatics of all religions. There was, for example, the lunatic Jewish settler, Baruch Goldstein, who opened fire on Muslims praying at the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron in 1994, killing 24 and wounding more than 100. There was also the lunatic Jewish settler who assassinated Yitzak Rabin. I can't remember many Jews calling these effusions of violence as a natural consequence of devout Judaism. They were acts of psychopathy, as was Hasan's bloodbath.

---snip---

In the meantime, we should identify the notion that Hasan's act was somehow a consequence of his religious orthodoxy for what it is: anti-Islamic bigotry.

Hmmm. I’m sure Nidal would disagree vehemently, probably violently, with this puke.

I confess, I think it was terrorism. Like the Seattle Jewish Center attack, the DC sniper, the LAX attack, I won't go on. After all, I'm a religious bigot.

The conclusion the pro-terrorist press is leading us to is that radical Islam is a defacto mental illness.

I learned my journalism in a building named for Britton Haden, co-founder of Time magazine with Henry Luce. Back then, half a century ago, I respected Time magazine. That has slipped over the years to a point where I spit on Time magazine for its journalistic incompetence, and tangible bigotry.

With its bleeding of ad pages, and bleeding of money, Time will not long survive. It will be a funeral with no mourners except those who have just lost their pension rights.

I’m beginning to understand why Jews feel persecuted.

“Nidal Hasan was somehow a direct consequence of his Islamic beliefs as opposed to a direct consequence of his insanity”

So, Joe Klein is now a licensed mental health professional and can assess the mental states of people he’s never met?

What a fartknocker.

Some of those comments left are just delusional. “Yeah, all religions are alike. Quit picking on the Islamists!”

What a bunch of nuts.

Leaving aside that it’s Time, supposedly mainstream, don’t you love the fact that Klein paints Jews as right wing radicals, and Communists (La Pasionaria) in the same article.

There are two protected groups in the US, Homosexuals and Muslims.

ALL of the rest of us to blame for EVERYTHING

For those who might not get the La Pasionaria allusion, a Communist, Wiki's page will suffice.

Islam is violence, it is barbaric, and it is sacriledge against God. It isn’t bigotry to call it those things, it is sound judgement.

The umbrella of religion doesn’t somehow create a shield.

As to this woman who writes this article, lets not forget her motivations. She’s clearly an athiest whose only gods are “carbon imprints” and the government and she is just using this to attack the righteous and to defend what she superficially perceives as an ethnic cultural tradition.

The MSM and the Donks and the Marxist Executive will go to any and all lengths to make this NOT about terrorism. Because after 9/11, Bush kept the country safe for 7 years. Zero hasn’t been in office ONE and there’s already two attacks on American soil.

Hasan’s mental state was considered by his colleagues at Walter Reed. They know more about psychopathy than this author, who probably doesn’t know much.

Do extremely religious people tend to be more psychologically damaged than less religious people?

If the religion they adhere to happens to be a savage death cult that would require a dose of insanity to follow at all, yes.

What is wrong with these people, and Joe Klein in particular? They keep insisting Hasan was mentally unstable, although they produce no evidence that he was. There’s plenty of evidence that he was a conscious fundamentalist who approved of suicide bombings. To point to these facts does not make you a religious bigot. So what are the Joe Kleins of the World purposely driving for?

There's overwhelming evidence as to his motivation, not as to non-religious mental instability.Note my brief comment in post 3. Perhaps we're coming to a point where certain streams of Islam are mental disorders. It's a logical conclusion flowing from the authors premise, but he's simply write me off as a right wing Jew.
