Senate Democrats plan to unveil healthcare bill

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid prepared to unveil long-awaited healthcare overhaul legislation on Wednesday, with the first test vote on the package expected by the end of the week.

The healthcare reform bill, President Barack Obama's top domestic priority, has been delayed in the Senate for weeks as Reid waited for cost estimates and searched for an approach that can win the 60 votes needed to overcome Republican procedural hurdles.

Senate Democrats have scheduled a 5 p.m. EST meeting in which Reid will brief them on the bill, and on the cost estimates provided by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

The bill's release would clear the way for a vote on Friday or Saturday by the full chamber on whether to proceed to debate on the measure -- the first key procedural hurdle for the Senate plan.

Anyone who can read, comprehend, and is not a socialist can see that the house bill would be a disaster. Proponents of national healthcare have talked of a public “option”. Looking closely at the house bill, it’s not so optional. It starts out optional but after a period of time, individuals and employers have to show they’ve switched to a govt approved plan and the premiums are quite high.

There are lot of valid criticisms of nationalized healthcare. 1) Why would employers NOT drop health insurance coverage for their employees under a system where the govt will force everyone not covered to buy insurance? 2) How do private ins companies compete with an entity that has an unlimited amount of money via deficit spending? 3) How many people will decide to go into medicine once most everyone is in a single payer system? The reason so many doctors do not accept medicaid and medicare is because the amount paid to doctors is so little. People are not willing to invest their time, money, and tireless efforts to be paid peanuts and we will end up with a serious shortage of high quality doctors like what has happened to Canada. There are so many problems with this that I’d be typing all night to respond to your post.

Very good letter! You can send it to other Senators as well.

I'm like you, I worry about the kids and (some day) the grandkids, burdened with immense crushing debts and even governemnt bankruptcy and collapse.

Everything depends on pushing just a handful for "borderline" Democrats to stop this thing now. Because Reid has no margin of error. He has to have every Democratic vote in the Senate or he will lose.

So go get 'em!

Via Hot Air

Subsidies and consumer protections DO NOT BEGIN UNTIL 2013!!!!! But the fines penalties and taxes begin NOW

Yep, so debt neutral... you start paying ahead of time.

BTW, don’t ask how high the cost will be the second ten years.

Remember who’s EXEMPT from the bill as well.

Oh, and you will not be suing anyone.

Thanks, Mrs. Don-o. Emailed all of those listed the following:

Please VOTE NO on the health care bill! It will NOT solve the problems we currently face in the health care system; in fact, it will make them much worse. In addition, it will bankrupt this country. Even Obama said earlier this year that "we're broke!" The latest polls show that only 35% of the country is in favor of this legislation, so why are you guys ramming it down our throats? It's absolutely outrageous what the liberal base of your party is doing to this country, and YOU WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE if you vote for this piece of crap!!!!

After weeks of “behind closed doors” coercion and deal making,
his healthcare overhaul bill is finally coming out of the
closet! No matter what Reid or others may have said publicly,
we understand that this bill includes provisions for
taxpayer-funded abortions.

Pelosi’s version of ObamaCare includes the requirement
of a monthly abortion premium to be paid by enrollees in the plan!

This means that not only does ObamaCare mandate
abortion coverage and taxpayer funding, it also
mandates that all enrollees must specifically pay
an abortion “premium” every month! — libertyaction.org

Looks like they got us by the azz again if this is true.

So I guess if you happen to state that you smoke on your medical record, then the community healthcare activists will send a letter instructing (well, demanding) that you report to the nearest clinic to start on a wellness program. Failure to show up will result in the government becoming very disappointed in you with penalties to follow.

1) Why would employers NOT drop health insurance coverage for their employees under a system where the govt will force everyone not covered to buy insurance?

And how can employers give their employees raises in lieu of health care benefits when they still have to shell out a percentage of payroll (for instance, 8% for the bigger companies) to the Feds.
