Senate bill weighs in at 2,074 pages

In the Battle of the Health Bills, the Senate wins out, bulk-wise – weighing in at 2,074 pages.

The House health reform bill was a mere 1,990 pages when introduced.

That means the Senate bill -- like the one in the House -- runs more pages than War and Peace, and has nearly five times as many words as the Torah.

The table of contents alone is 14 pages.

. . . runs more pages than War and Peace.

Cumbersome and poisonous as it may be, it holds not a candle to the number of *words* in War and Peace.

As long as they have socialized medicine aka public option in the bill they are not going to get 60 votes for cloture on the final vote. They will get a cloture to debate but not a cloture for final vote because Lieberman made it clear that he is not going to vote for cloture on the final vote. Also NO Republicans including RINOS are going to vote for cloture on the final vote.

I strongly believe that the democrats will not dare go the nuclear option on this one.

$849 billion, eh? I sincerely doubt that with this much paperowrk involved. But even that amount is too much for us to handle, now.

Long Table of Contents so they don’t have to read the bill, I guess. Table of Contents equals the Cliffnote version.

Dumb headline ... if you’re going to say “weighs in”, you should measure in lbs, not pages.

This is a freakin Christmas tree for Acorn, the universities and the charlatan mental health clinics:

`(a) Grants Authorized- The Secretary may award grants to eligible institutions of higher education to support the recruitment of students for, and education and clinical experience of the students in—

`(1) baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degree programs of social work, as well as the development of faculty in social work;

`(2) accredited master’s, doctoral, internship, and post-doctoral residency programs of psychology for the development and implementation of interdisciplinary training of psychology graduate students for providing behavioral and mental health services, including substance abuse prevention and treatment services;

`(3) accredited institutions of higher education or accredited professional training programs that are establishing or expanding internships or other field placement programs in child and adolescent mental health in psychiatry, psychology, school psychology, behavioral pediatrics, psychiatric nursing, social work, school social work, substance abuse prevention and treatment, marriage and family therapy, school counseling, or professional counseling; and

`(4) State-licensed mental health nonprofit and for-profit organizations to enable such organizations to pay for programs for preservice or in-service training of paraprofessional child and adolescent mental health workers.

This kind of spending on liberal baubles is a liberal dream and a conservative nightmare. This part has nothing to do with health insurance reform.

This really torques my tamales.

The loop hole deal around the abortion amendment from the house was a new twist. Oh, well, the house bill could have been killed. I'd say about a 60% chance of passing now.

The Constitution is seventeen pages. Congress should pass legislation that no bill can have more pages than the Constitution.

Just curious.

How many pages in the Bible?

And how long does God give us to read it and understand it?
