The media, Walter Cronkite in particular, convinced the country we were losing in Viet Nam when we weren’t. Yet we’re making the same mistakes we made then in Afghanistan now. Are we trying to win or trying to get out? Are our troops fighting with both hands tied behind their backs and dying for nothing? Wars are meant to fought by the military, not by politicians - and especially by a politician who never served in the military. At this point I wonder if we just shouldn’t leave because our Dear Leader will make no commitment. Not to win, hell not to even try to win. Why waste the lives of the greatest military the world has ever known if you won’t at least attempt to win?

I was around and in the military during the time of which you speak. What you’ve said is precisely why I’m disheartened. When you contrast our capability (google “the Warrior Song” and watch the video) with the reality of our sychopantic media steadfastly hawking our failure in lockstep to Obama’s indifference to our forces’ plight is just heartbreaking. Our leaders should be damned to hell for eternity.
