At the Villages in Florida, conservative media superstar Glenn Beck unveiled his hotly-anticipated "Plan" -- a new direction for his program, and for America that he'd been hinting at on the air.
On Saturday, Beck told the New York Times that from now on, along with hosting his popular tv and radio shows, he "would promote voter registration drives and sponsor a series of conventions across the country featuring what he described as libertarian speakers."
He also said he planned to publish yet another non-fiction book in August 2010. (Beck's five previous books have all been NYT #1 bestsellers.)
Already, Mr. Becks page on FoxNews.com features what it calls In or Out 2010, a simple challenge for lawmakers. It includes a pledge to back a freeze in government spending; oppose all tax increases until our economy has rebounded; and support stricter immigration enforcement.
According to a message at Glenn Beck's website, the "100 Year Plan" includes:
- Education is key, and not just for our children. To that end, we will be conducting a series of conventions. These will be full-day experiences where you will be immersed in learning about topics ranging from self-reliance, community organizing, the economy and how to be a political force in your own neighborhood and country. The first one will be in Orlando at UCF Arena on March 27th
- All of the above will culminate in The Plan, a book that will provide specific policies, principles and, most importantly, action steps that each of us can take to play a role in this Refounding.
- On August 28, 2010, I ask you, your family and neighbors to join me at the feet of Abraham Lincoln on the National Mall for the unveiling of The Plan and the birthday of a new national movement to restore our great country
Hello
August 28th in DC and then September 12th in DC???
When will we hold our 2nd annual Freeper convention? ;)
BTTT
"Sunset" the Department of Education and all of its programs, Social Security, and Medicaid/Medicare and then we can talk again.
Confusing.
I love Beck’s show.
And I know he dislikes both parties.
But his plan is to promote libertarians?
Many conservatives, although they may agree with much of the libertarian ideology, do not identify with libertarian politicians. The drug issue, abortion, and what defines a necessary war are three issues that seem to perpetually defy any type of alliance.
I’ve been looking forward to this plan, but it seems like a let down. He’s essentially planning to continue what the grassroots have already been doing and then throwing a host of Ross Perot spoilers to split the next elections on top of it.
I hope I’m misunderstanding the plan.
lol! The progressives are going to cook something up to stop him. but it won’t work...
Beck is going to promote community organizers?
I hate to say it, but you’re probably right.
Did the Americans living in the 1770’s gain their freedom by having protest marches in Boston and Philadelphia? No!
They had to fight for their freedom, and that included going to war against the soldiers of King George III.
The day of an eruption draws nearer.....
You took the thoughts right out of my head! Glenn has been doing a great job, but he’s close to marginalizing himself with all the build up hype to something that is already happening.
Why are there so many naysayers on this thread.....?
You go Beck!...we're with you!
Hope long before August 28, 2010, we have some viable conservative candidates running against the losers in the house and senate.
He doesn't promote libertarians in the traditional sense. And I think he's avoiding the conservative label because people like Lindsey Graham are considered very conservative.
He's essentially redefining libertarianism. And giving real conservatives a political home away from the Graham's and Gingrich's of the world.
Too late for marches.
Any planning Beck is doing should be the kind that is done in secret.
Beck is a Paulista
I really like Glenn but this thing of his where he constantly has “Something BIG” coming and then following it up with a book or some kind of “Road Show” is getting a little tired.
I think it sounds wonderful!

You go Beck!...we’re with you!

You are right the paper only gave a blurb about his plan!
Watch Glenn, he has been consistent with the political flow.
You know what's really interesting about government spending freezes? They don't directly affect the infotainment sector of the economy. A "libertarian" Glenn Beck would hardly notice, unless a bridge he was driving over collapsed due to cancelled maintenance.
I find that really interesting.
