At the Villages in Florida, conservative media superstar Glenn Beck unveiled his hotly-anticipated "Plan" -- a new direction for his program, and for America that he'd been hinting at on the air.
On Saturday, Beck told the New York Times that from now on, along with hosting his popular tv and radio shows, he "would promote voter registration drives and sponsor a series of conventions across the country featuring what he described as libertarian speakers."
He also said he planned to publish yet another non-fiction book in August 2010. (Beck's five previous books have all been NYT #1 bestsellers.)
Already, Mr. Becks page on FoxNews.com features what it calls In or Out 2010, a simple challenge for lawmakers. It includes a pledge to back a freeze in government spending; oppose all tax increases until our economy has rebounded; and support stricter immigration enforcement.
According to a message at Glenn Beck's website, the "100 Year Plan" includes:
- Education is key, and not just for our children. To that end, we will be conducting a series of conventions. These will be full-day experiences where you will be immersed in learning about topics ranging from self-reliance, community organizing, the economy and how to be a political force in your own neighborhood and country. The first one will be in Orlando at UCF Arena on March 27th
- All of the above will culminate in The Plan, a book that will provide specific policies, principles and, most importantly, action steps that each of us can take to play a role in this Refounding.
- On August 28, 2010, I ask you, your family and neighbors to join me at the feet of Abraham Lincoln on the National Mall for the unveiling of The Plan and the birthday of a new national movement to restore our great country
“Any planning Beck is doing should be the kind that is done in secret.”
- Correct. Any planning done to such a scale as to overthrow the effects of Obamacare, Crap&Trade, Re-education, etc will involve strategic planning that mandates violence if necessary. Marches don’t cut it.
No way can Beck even hint that that is what he is promoting, or he can expect a visit from every alphabet agency in the United States.
Beck is a joke.
As such, I think the best defense against a Mass Movement is another Mass Movement, but I don't believe the Obami have their strength centered in an existing Mass Movement, the controlling power they exercise politically is still largely in the area of fashion. The Blue, True Believing cadres are a sorry lot and not a majority among the majority of voters in 2008, and we're peeling away (with the help of those cadres, already over-reaching) the center faster than has ever happened in my lifetime.
Beck setting himself up as a charismatic leader of a counter-mass movement, as the face of the essential counter-revolution that absolutely must occur in the 2010 federal elections, seems counter-intuitive.
I think he's over-reaching here.
I really like Glenn but this thing of his where he constantly has Something BIG coming and then following it up with a book or some kind of Road Show is getting a little tired.

who wrote the article Beck or someone else talking about Beck!
I am disappointed the article did not share more about the meeting.
It does seem a bit like a book promotion doesn’t it?
I've seen it a lot growing up in black neighborhoods. It's the plantation mentality: they get used to the warm confines of the GOP and shun anyone that wants to break free and live life.
They think it's wisdom, because they've seen what happens to people that leave the comfy GOP house: they lose and the Dems win. So they think the plantation is the only place to be. But they're wrong.
The GOP has taken advantage of the plantation mentality. And they've been actively destroying our freedom.
Just like black people and the Dem party... if you're black and you leave the Dem party everyone shuns you. Same thing here: if you leave the GOP plantation then tons of people on the GOP plantation are going to shun you.
Conservatives don't, but people that aren't politically active think he is. And Libs do to... especially the media. So Beck goes out calling himself a conservative and the media peg him with Lindsey, Newt and the rest. So he's smart not to allow himself to be pegged that way.
Welcome to Free Republic.
Yes it does...........I could have taken it a little more serious if he said he was putting together something that didn’t sound like a sales pitch..........
This was a bit too transparent.

Or would that be asking too much of you?
As well he should. I am sure you are not promoting violence.
This may be Glenns “Jump The Shark” moment........
We will see.......

“”Sunset” the Department of Education and all of its programs, Social Security, and Medicaid/Medicare and then we can talk again.”
Add the forest service, fish and wildlife service, the Fed, Agricutural dept. and the Justice Dept. and I’m on board. Oh, and I want to see every single acre of federal national forests and national parks sold off.
Plus - I want to see every damn one of the federal fascist bureaucrats at EPA hanged.
Agreed?

I don’t think so..
I think he wants to motivate all of us to take the tried and true principles and exercise them.
No longer can we rest on our laurels we want to preserve liberty than each of us have to have the courage to stand frim on the ground the Lord Bless us with!
We have to hold on and make sure these principles are adhere too!
That is our roll as a citizen!

I agree with Beck that the Republicrats are part of the problem.Oh,and check my date, please.
Okay...here are some hard realities:
There are literally MILLIONS of gun owners in America. That makes us a force to be reckoned with, true, BUT...How on Earth do we organize?
What do we use to organize? The Internet? Radio? TV? Because of the individuality that seems to be the hallmark of those of us who want to do SOMETHING to change things...how do we make everyone operate from the same page? It’d be like herding cats.
Do you think there’s some sort of signal that would indicate to patriots out there that “It’s time”? And wouldn’t the movement of several thousand armed Americans towards Washington be noticed and allow the FedGov to respond? If they send in the Army, what do we do? Fight against tanks? A hunting rifle isn’t that good against those.
Questions like this are bothersome, I know. But if we’re to re-take the country (with violence seeming to be more and more likely), these are questions (with many more) that have to be answered.
