"The Myth's About Thanksgiving"
Hogue News ^ | November 22, 2009 | Paul Smith

My attempt to squash your romantic view of Thanksgiving! Mayflower Myths:The reason that we have so many myths associated with Thanksgiving is that it is an invented tradition. It doesn’t originate in any one event. It is based on the New England puritan Thanksgiving, which is a religious Thanksgiving, and the traditional harvest celebrations of England and New England and maybe other ideas like commemorating the pilgrims. All of these have been gathered together and transformed into something different from the original parts. James W. Baker Senior Historian at Plymouth Plantation.

Just stopping by to mention that Kwanzaa is complete crap dreamed up by a communist member of the Black Panthers in the 1960's. But the lamestream media seem to love it.

I'll stick with the traditions that are older than I am.

Hard to take you seriously with "myth's' and "seperate". Learn how to write in English.

BTW, "Plymouth Plantation" is more correctly and historically described to this very day as "Plimoth Plantation."

Fail, noob.

It's a little early but since you brought up the K-word, time for my parody song:

On the first day of Kwanzaa Obama gave to me
A Marxist in a red tree.

On the second day of Kwanzaa Obama gave to me
Two Jaily birds,
And a Marxist in a red tree.

On the third day of Kwanzaa Obama gave to me
Three Dixie Chicks.
Two Jaily birds,
And a Marxist in a red tree.

On the fourth day of Kwanzaa Obama gave to me
Four Lenin busts.
Three Dixie Chicks,
Two Jaily birds,
And a Marxist in a red tree.

On the fifth day of Kwanzaa Obama gave to me
Five fel-on-ies.
Four Lenin busts,
Three Dixie Chicks,
Two Jaily birds,
And a Marxist in a red tree.

On the sixth day of Kwanzaa Obama gave to me
Six Castro jumpsuits.
Five fel-on-ies,
Four Lenin busts,
Three Dixie Chicks,
Two Jaily birds,
And a Marxist in a red tree.

On the seventh day of Kwanzaa Obama gave to me
Seven Mao pajamas,
Six Castro jumpsuits,
Five fel-on-ies,
Four Lenin busts
Three Dixie Chicks,
Two Jaily birds,
And a Marxist in a red tree.

Remember to thanks to the Lord for this great country or ours while we still have it for the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.

America was founded first on striving for freedom of worship.

Thanksgiving was a tradition in the Colonization years in America BUT it was not celebrated in All colonies and towns and there was no set date. A thanksgiving feast was declared when a colony had a good harvest or completed a project. In other words they had a feast (and usually lots of prayer service) when they felt a need to give thanks to the Lord.

The Pilgrims had several such.

Lincoln (IIRC) made it an official holiday and it has been ever since.

I'm still planning to celebrate, myths or no. Thanksgiving is becoming one of my favorite holidays the older I get.

Every Thanksgiving is special.

What a great way to waste a perfectly useless post.

What’s your point?

Who pissed in your wheaties?

This noob can't write, can't spell and has historical inaccuracies in this post. Do you think DU and the MSM would like to jump all over FR as a whole because of it? You 'betcha.

And the guy claims to be a talk show host. If true, one can only imagine the damage he's doing to us.

Perfect example of reason out of control. You have to look at reason and faith as working together. Not a separation or wall. Besides if there was not a Thanksgiving life would be one dull and boring enterprise

Yo Dawg,

When you come over to the FR Crib and pimp your blog you must post your message using proper grammar and spelling. Otherwise you’re just another long-legged, mack-daddy newb trying to impress the best with your lack of language skills.

Peace out, bro.

Cordially,

A. Grizzled Bear (esq)

Seems like that would have been a good reason if the blog wasn’t crap and the guy could spell, research or write his way out of a paper bag.

I’m just sayin’.

Peace (and happy Thanksgiving).

GG

The guy that wrote the article is apparently running for Congress in a Sacremento district. Don’t think its the new guy’s fault. I don’t think the article should be taken too seriously. IMHO.

Sorry about our Bucs this year :o)

I hear you, but the MSM and lib blogs will tear him up about a post like this, and then tar and feather us as the host site.

Thanks for the sympathy. I still have my Super Bowl XXXVII shirt and hat from the Bucs finest moment. They are truly horrendous now, from the coaches down to the practice squad.

This is nonsense. The history of the Pilgrims and their Indian friends is meticulously well-documented. The Puritans had nothing to do with the Pilgrims or with Thanksgiving.
