RealClearPolitics.com, which averages all recent national public opinion polls, now shows President Obama's job approval average has dropped to 49.9%, marking the first time this number has dipped below the critical 50% line. Obama's job disapproval average has also climbed to an all-time high of 44.6%, thus narrowing the approval/disapproval gap to a new low of +5.3%.

After 2010 it will get worse. Most Presidents are deemed lame ducks at the end of their fourth year in office. This President will be considered a lame duck after his first year in office. Congress needs to be changed so all this guy can do is give speeches and sit in the Oval office..........and of course, throw more parties.

You’re not understanding RCP’s AVERAGE, which takes all polls and averages them together. That means that if ANY poll greatly oversamples Dems, it certainly will change the average, but will still be subject to other offsetting polls.

Real Clear Politics is not a poll, but rather an *average* of all recent national telephone poll results. The latest sample includes job approval polling data from Rasmussen, Gallup, USA Today, Fox News, CBS News, Democracy Corps (a hardcore liberal Democrat outfit), and CNN.

Probably, since many organizations out there do it that way. The “RealClearPolitics” poll, however, is an average of a number of polls from various sources including Zogby, Rasmussen, Fox, etc., etc.
True, but I still like it because it is much less volatile than individual polls and when it moves it shows a real trend. This is not good news for Barry.
Confirms Rasmussen -15. Real Clear just likes to be a follower rather than a leader. Next up is Gallop. It might get so bad that even CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, and MSNBC will report the falling numbers. I am trying really hard to guess what would make them do this, but as some point they have to do something to prevent themselves from becoming a total laughing stock. You would think?
No sitting President has ever won re-election if he was under 47 percent approval on Gallup Poll.

Keep in mind, he still has a 90% approval rating among African Americans which is still artificially boosting his approval rating.

And if you look at the polls on RCP, Gallup falls near the middle. (Rasmussen gives the worst numbers for Obama)
And Gallup currently shows Obama at 50% approval, indicating re-election at this time.

Gallup’s polling numbers remained unchanged today so they’re already figured into the latest RCP numbers.
I think CNN, ABC, CBS, AP, Ipsos/McClatchy, etc. will still try to do everything they can to manipulate their surveys to keep Hussein’s job approval numbers at least 50% for the foreseeable future, but I predict they’ll soon start reporting approval numbers more in the 50-52% range rather than the usual 53-56%. At some point, however, when Rasmussen, Zogby, and even Gallup start showing The One’s approval numbers in the low 40s, then at some point you’d think the state-run alphabet media outlets will have no choice but to report approval numbers below 50% in their polls to maintain some shred of credibility and show they’re not completely disconnected from the rest of the universe.
Then again, I wouldn’t be surprised if the state-run media stops reporting their polling data altogether once they run out of creative ways to keep their beloved messiah above 50%!

You might like pollster.com better. They also compile the job approval average of various public polls, but use a formula that places greater emphasis on the most recent polling data.
As of this posting, pollster.com shows O’s average job approval number at 48.4% and his average disapproval number at 46.5%, for a difference of only a razor thin +1.9%!

You know when the RCP average has you polling below 50% you’re in real trouble. Keep in mind it’s mostly “adults” rather than “Registered” or “Likely” voters polled. You can knock an additional 5% off if strictly likely voters were polled.
That’s where Obama finds himself now and at this early stage in his Presidency it’s an ominous sign indeed.
It averages all the polls. It is basically a poll of polls.
