Obama administration climate czar Carol Browner on Wednesday rejected claims that e-mails stolen from a British university show that climate scientists trumped up global-warming numbers, saying she considers the science settled.
"I'm sticking with the 2,500 scientists. These people have been studying this issue for a very long time and agree this problem is real," said Ms. Browner, whom President Obama has tapped as his chief of policy on global warming.
The e-mails were hacked from the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia and have come to light over the past week. They appear to show scientists saying they've smoothed over data that doesn't back up their claims of warming, and pondering how to freeze out scientists who disagree with them.
Release of the e-mails has energized skeptics ahead of next month's major global warming meeting in Copenhagen, which is supposed to set the framework for a new global treaty to restrict greenhouse gas emissions.
The White House said Wednesday that Mr. Obama will personally travel to Copenhagen to commit the U.S. to greenhouse gas reductions.

Ms. Browner said the only people who still doubt global warming is happening and that humans are to blame are "a very small group of people who continue to say this isn't a real problem, that we don't need to do anything."
She also said the e-mails are only trickling out, and that the entire set hasn't been released.
Ms. Browner initially shrugged when asked about the e-mails, saying she didn't have a reaction. But when a reporter followed up, she said she will stick with the consensus of the 2,500 climate scientists on the International Panel on Climate Change who concluded global warming is occurring and is most likely being pushed by human actions.

As you know, the "Petition Project" has collected signatures from 31,486 real American scientists...
The current list of petition signers includes 9,029 PhD; 7,157 MS; 2,586 MD and DVM; and 12,714 BS or equivalent academic degrees. Most of the MD and DVM signers also have underlying degrees in basic science.All of the listed signers have formal educations in fields of specialization that suitably qualify them to evaluate the research data related to the petition statement. Many of the signers currently work in climatological, meteorological, atmospheric, environmental, geophysical, astronomical, and biological fields directly involved in the climate change controversy.
They also openly list the credentials and names of each of the people who have signed the petition including their specialty. Many are experts in atmospheric research.
I have never seen such a list of warmist believers. They are hiding behind anonymity.
I know which group I'll listen to when I draw conclusions.

In another somewhat related item, Barack Insane Obama's administration advisers less than 10% have any degree or experience in what they advise him on ... whereas Eisenhower had over 90% of his advisers with degrees or experience in their field ....

The documentary “the Great Global Warming Swindle” has a scientist who makes the exact same claim that these people are vaguely related to the inquiry, have been included on the list without their consent, etc. It’s a travesty when politics rears its head.
I'll put up my 31,000 American scientists against Ms. Browner's 2500 any day of the week. Have a look at The Global Warming Petition at the Petition Project website. We have let them tell this "small group of people" story long enough. There are many, many more scientists who are "skeptics" than there are global warming alarmist "scientists".
The MSM will try to focus on "all the good things" at the conference but the impact of ClimateGate on the conference will be a BIG TIME story on the blogs and it will just be impossible to keep it out of the MSM news cycle. Obama may be able to ignore ClimateGate but his underlings will be peppered with questions about it.
This is going to be so much fun.

They are EVIL.
They know exactly what they are doing because they have been part of the fraud from the start.
Lying doesn't make it so. "Deniers" are an emerging majority in every poll.

Actually, there is such a thing as “settled science”, and, oddly, the global warming scare qualifies.
In science, observation is king. The observed temperature of the earth has been dropping since the ‘98 peak. In science, this is checkmate.
The facts are in.
The science is settled.
There is no such thing as global warming.
Anyone who says that there is, is no scientist.
End of discussion.
No scientist is going to say that the earth has been warming up, while it has been observed to cool down.
The global warming alarmists have got computer models which have projected that the earth was warming up, the whole time it’s been cooling down. In scientific circles, models which reliably project the opposite of what is observed, are known, in the technical jargon, as “wrong”.
As I understand it, satellite data shows cooling, tree ring data shows cooling (except when the decline is hidden), but weather stations, which are increasingly surrounded by heat from cities, show warming for some reason.
More and more, I'm thinking denial = rope.
Many today still consider Stalin infallible.
