Global Frauding [Mark Steyn]
NRO ^ | 11/25/2009 | Mark Steyn

Posted on 11/26/2009 9:23:38 PM PST by Sneakyuser

The CRU scandal has already ensnared Britain's leading climate "scientist" Phil Jones (whom one principled leftie says has only "a few days left in which to make an honourable exit") and his American counterpart Michael Mann (as in "Mann-made global warming").

Given that these two men and their respective institutions are the leading warm-mongers on the planet, and the guys who dominate the IPCC, Copenhagen et al, it would be most unlikely if the widespread data-raping were confined only to the United Kingdom and the United States. Here's an interesting snippet from my colleagues at Investigate magazine in New Zealand re their National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research:

NIWA’s David Wratt has told Investigate magazine this afternoon his organization denies faking temperature data and he claims NIWA has a good explanation for adjusting the temperature data upward. Wratt says NIWA is drafting a media response for release later this afternoon which will explain why they altered the raw data.

At least they only "altered" the data, unlike the CRU, which managed to lose it.

Upon examination of said "raw data", it seems that the country's temperature increased 0.06° over a century - ie, nada. But by the time Dr James Salinger (a big cheese at NIWA, the CRU and the IPCC), had "adjusted" the data New Zealand was showing an increase of 0.92° - ie, some 15 times greater than the raw data showed. Why?

It might be that "climate change" is an organized criminal conspiracy to defraud the entire developed world. Or there might be a "good explanation". I'd be interested to hear it. Fortunately for NIWA et al, among the massed ranks of "environmental correspondents", plus ça climate change, plus c'est la même chose.

... .92" is a nice number don't you think.... I feel rather warm, don't you? ....uhhhhhh......The data did not fit the model, so we made it fit

The Leftist politicians and their media is sailing full speed ahead with AGW taxation and control.

It’s as if this information didn’t even exist.

Turn up the heat on these people so that they think that the planet is setting its course to the heart of the sun. Let them sweat it big time. Tissue time and big baths for all the climatologists that endorse fraud. Make it hot as hell for them — as is only fitting.

Yep. Since the USSC declared that CO2 is a pollutant that can be regulated by the EPA everything else is moot.

Not might be, is.

widespread data-raping

Should "data-raping," be a felony? Punishable with up to 5 years hard labor at Ft. Leavenworth? Loss of rank, and a dishonorable discharge?

Then again, the U.S. government perpetrates a fraud a day on the American people (i.e. cap and trade, TARP, health reform, social security, etc.), and none of them have been jailed or voted out of office. Maybe what is necessary are pitch forks, tar, feathers, and a rail.

I could be wrong, but it seems like we are headed for CWII.

We live in two worlds - The hopeful, thoughtful, wonderful world of MSM, Some Scientists, and our elite politicians on one hand... On the other, common sense, the people, and a precious few new outlets that occupy the other world.

One will survive - one will fall. Since many of the “money makers” are on the left (power and money controls all), the only resource on our side is the truth! Thank goodness that it still rings throughout the countryside...

Looking beyond the personally celebrated delight of the CRU collapse and it’s impact on the world politic... up to 12 Australian MP’s resigning...
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/jamesdelingpole/100018003/climategate-five-aussie-mps-lead-the-way-by-resigning-in-disgust-over-carbon-tax/

there still is a question regarding the release of the questionable data.

Why? A multi-billion dollar scam just approaching fruition after years and years of withstanding the common-sense assault by citizen and scientist alike self-destructs? I have to wonder.

Who would gain? Does anyone honestly think the forces behind this crashing train are celebrating for the tax slaves who just, through little effort of their own, escaped an all around crushing burden? Where’s the winner?

Yes, yes, I know. George Soros is an easy and obvious target but he also exhibits an exquisite sense of gamesmanship. Some interesting questions are put forth at
http://junkscience.com/ByTheJunkman/20090302.html earlier this year.

An article in October’s Smithsonian magazine about a company named Benetech, http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history-archaeology/Digs-Paper-Trail.html contained information that sounded uncomfortably similar to the following information found at
http://www.soros.org/resources/articles_publications/publications/annual_20070731/a_complete.pdf on page 98.

...OSI is advocating two complementary strategies to
achieve open access to scholarly publications. Both of these strategies can be implemented by scholars who present
their research results to the world without expectation of
payment, and both can be implemented immediately and
without depending upon markets or legislation.

Open access will require new mechanisms to pay for
peer review.

The first strategy is to provide scholars with the tools and assistance they need to deposit their peer-reviewed journal articles in open electronic archives, repositories from which anyone searching the web can retrieve them.

The second is to launch new open access journals and help
develop an open access journal system that is financially
self-sustaining. New open access journals will no longer
invoke copyright to restrict access to the material they
publish; instead, open access journals will use copyright and other tools to ensure permanent access, free of charge, to all the articles they publish...

This seemingly disastrous defeat at the last minute of the unstoppable global warming juggernaut has to have a silver lining somewhere. Folks at the Soros level of control just don’t get blind sided.

I’m suggesting that we might expect a well-timed call for a world-wide governing body on data compilation and control fairly soon.

And if you think Open Source Institute doesn’t bear watching go on back to http://www.soros.org/resources/articles_publications/publications/annual_20070731/a_complete.pdf and scroll on down to page 118.

Well, since CO2 is what we send into the air... every time we freaking exhale!... I would say we have a serious problem that needs to be addressed, one way or the other.

Well, it no longer takes much digging.

"In our further exploration of the social network of authorships in temperature reconstruction, we found [that] at least 43 authors have direct ties to Dr. Mann by virtue of co-authored pages with him. Our findings from this analysis suggest that authors in the area of paleoclimate studies are closely connected and thus 'independent studies' may not be as independent as they might appear on the surface. This committee does not believe that web logs [(blogs)]are an appropriate forum for scientific debate on this issue [or 'peer review, presumably]. --- Congressional Report --- Professor Edward J. Wegman ---July 11, 2006

Professor Wegman's 2006 Report to Congress

So, as we already know there are at least 43 members of the fraud circle-jerk in many countries, and they have stonewalled FOIA requests, conspired against dissent, "peer-reviewed" their own work, and generally set back climate science decades.

In the long run, there is little tolerance for fraud in real science.

Remember Manuel Miranda? He was the senate staffer who discovered back in 2002 that Democrat strategy memos were available on the shared senate computer system for all to see. These memos described Democrat tactics to smear and destroy Bush’s judicial nominees with lies and talking points provided by radical left-wing lobbyists. One memo even characterized Miguel Estrada as dangerous because, as a Latino, he would be difficult to stop if he was ever nominated for the Supreme Court. Estrada HAD to be stopped, these powerful groups instructed the Democrats. And he was.

Anyway, when the story broke big time in 2004 guess what the Democrat “mainstream” newsrooms focused on? That’s right - - the surreptitious viewing of the Democrat memos by Republicans (oh, the outrage of it!). The “scandal” became known as “Memogate”. The nefarious SUBSTANCE of those slimy Democrat memos was spiked in favor of reporting the “dirty politics” of the Republican staffer Manuel Miranda for reading and leaking those Democrat strategy memos. Incredibly, thanks mainly to Republican cowardice, the rats and their newsrooms got away with it!

Well, here we are again. The Democrat newsrooms briefly thought they could make the “Climategate” scandal all about the “illegal hacking of the CRU servers” (oh, the outrage of it!) and dismiss the fact that the leaks exposed one of the most massive and costly political frauds of all time. The fact that the Democrat newsrooms’ diversionary tactics didn’t work this time speaks volumes about the rising power of the internet (yay, Free Republic!), talk radio, and the dominant cable news network, Fox News.

Notice I didn’t mention the Republicans having anything to do with it?
Republican leaders should be shouting from the rooftops.
Do you hear anything?

Not really.
It wasn't "real" rape.

The victim went along willingly, obliviously, even.

They have set science back decades. For a lot of people right now, scientists have about the same reputation for honesty and integrity as used car salesmen, lawyers, and New York Times editors.
