Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich has released a statement on Climategate. In a previous blog , AT readers were promised an update on Gingrich's then pending statement on Climategate. Here it is:

Two stories have broken in the past few days that should give Congress further pause before it ever again takes up energy tax legislation that justifies the destruction of millions of American jobs based on the supposed urgency of meeting the challenge of global warming.
Emails obtained by hackers from the University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit show a deliberate attempt by several leading climate scientists to manipulate data sets in order to show warming trends. They also paint an ugly picture of a willingness on the part of these influential scientists to suppress research that calls into question the accuracy of supposed warming trends..."

Remember Newt’s silly ad, a year ago, with Pelosi on “coming together against climate change”? What the hell was he thinking? I still can’t bring myself to forgive him that insanity. Newt could be the dictionary definition of a “loose cannon”.
Wow! It’s amazing how politicians can write paragraph after paragraph and say nothing. No apology, no regret for sitting with Batty Pelozi and whining over global “warming.” Stupid Newt tried to walk through a field of cowpies and stepped in every one.

I have to agree with you. OTOH, better late than never for Newt to wake up and smell the coffee.
What I'm hoping for is a similar statement out of our gal Sarah. She has been out front on this issue but not to same degree as Inhofe and and now Newt. Time to get on board Sarah.

...not terribly interested in hearing from Dede boyfreind anymore. Hannity was back to kissing Newt’s hindquarters again yesterday...Gingrich, Rove, Morris...rinse, repeat. It gets tired real fast.

My guess is Newt makes a living with TV appearances, and writing books only his friends will read.

Yes it is suspect but at least he said something. Where is the political outrage from the rest of our conservative leaders? Dim whits!
He's just a hack living on his past laurels. Looking at the sustainability of his contract I now believe it was nothing but a gimmick.
Newt has shown himself with great clarity to be just another mealy mouthed politician with no core principles. He has exhibited this behavior on several fronts. This is just the latest twist. He sways whichever way the political wind is blowing. It's overwhelming evidence that we do not want him anywhere near the Whitehouse come 2012....
Oh shut up.
Just let it go, Newt. You are not going to find that elusive proof of man-made global warming in any reliable data.
