WASHINGTON – Sean Hannity today defended Sarah Palin's recent comments about Barack Obama's constitutional eligibility for the presidency and WND's pursuit of the story.

He said the question about his original, long-form birth certificate has still not been answered.

"What was so wrong in saying that, 'Can we see your birth certificate?' ... We were told early on that, in fact, somebody else had looked at it and confirmed that it was legitimate. So, I mean, what was wrong with people saying, 'Wait a minute. You know what? In light of the fact of where your, your father came from, et cetera, uh, let's just make sure that this is a legitimate birth certificate'? ... It was not asked by the mainstream media. It was asked by places like WorldNetDaily, who, I think, were just doing due diligence considering it's a constitutional mandate. ... I think a lot of people were just afraid to ask the question."

Now...if for grins and giggles...someone...anyone would ask either Behar or Sullivan about the Birth Certificate (you know that pesky Constitution rearing its head and all) they will go ape$hit that the question has no merit and YOU (for posing it) are RAAACIST.

This is a simple thing to put to rest. I have a passport and a birth certificate. I can produce them at my house in a matter of minutes. I have not spent a million dollars to either acquire them...or to hide them.

This is not a unreasonable thing to ask for since being a "natural born citizen" of the US is a constitutional requirement for the job of President. It's not hateful, and it's not racist.

Proving that you are should be an honor.

Yet will not produce either. Why?

The longer it goes wityhout him doing this, the more insistent the demands for it will become. Obama cannot hide from proving his constitutional qualification once people in any numbers seriously doubt it.

BTW, under what conditions and with what financial aid did Obama attend college? ANd when he traveled to Pakistan while in college, under what conditions and what passport did he use to do so? Again, relatively simple things to put to rest...but they have not been put to rest. To the contrary, they've been covered up.

Reasonable people begin to wonder why.

Given the fact that Sarah Palin was subjected to an avalanche of Soros- and MSM-backed investigators who went to Alaska and combed over every document and shred of paper, interviewed everyone who ever met her or knew her or knew OF her....

Well, Sarah Palin has particular and unique standing to question why Obamsky’s birth certificate (and if she wanted to other records of his past such as college transcripts, his thesis-)isn’t equally subjected to such scrutiny. “Why me and not him?” she might rightfully ask.

Palin’s standing in the matter, and her willingness to broach it publicly, opens it up to others like Sean Hannity to now take it on as a legitimate issue.

This is how it works sometime. Groups like the Swiftboat Vets or WND press and press and press and eventually someone of a more mainstream stature takes up the cause, or a record pops open, and the story can then be reported by others because it is sanctified elsewhere.

That’s how it works. Palin made this fair game for many others who have been holding back. She did the exact right thing and good things will follow from it. Conservatives don’t have to bash Hannity for being “late” to the discussion. He’s led plenty of discussions and been the very first source for much about Ayers and Wright.

This is a good thing that happened.

My issue is this.

Mister Obama has an historic opportunity to embarrass his political opponents (enemies, I suspect, from his perspective).

All he needs to do is release the b.c. and order that it be given a thorough forensic analysis by fed law enforcement, with the results published immediately. He could erase doubt by having several labs from various agencies have a go at the document.

His approvals would regain some lost ground, n'est ce pas?

Levin and Sean both know Obama is not a citizen. They are operating under network constraints IMHO. So they have to say one thing and hint another.

They both said they looked into it, but the clincher was that they left it as an open ended question.

Well, the bottom line question as I’ve come to understand it is: what is a ‘natural born citizen?’ That goes beyond: is Obama a citizen and/or where was he born?

Obama has admitted freely that his father was a Kenyan citizen. If ‘natural born’ as understood by the Founders meant, as many believe, that a child is born of two US citizens, or if ‘natural born’ means the child’s father is a US citizen owing no allegiance to any other country at the time of birth, Obama’s being born in HI (or not) becomes irrelevant. He is, by that definition, not ‘natural born,’ and therefore not eligible to hold the office of president.
