If you’re not actually being paid, you need to file for Unemployment Insurance (UI) as that would probably constitute a temporary layoff.

Is there any reason why state universities in Arizona-- or any other state for that matter-- couldn't be privatized? We have two very successful private and growing colleges in our county (St. Vincent's and Seton Hill) who actually provide better educations at lower cost than their state supported counterparts.

What's more, you can even find a significant minority of conservative professors on their faculty. The result is that degrees from either actually mean something to businesses in this area because they know the kids who graduate have actually been exposed to some real world viewpoints.

I'm sure these aren't the only such colleges in the nation. I just think it is interesting that we have two of them in one county.

Wasn’t there a caller on the Glenn Beck show the other morning that said his bank put a 9 day hold on his California university paycheck?

I like this idea; the check will be honored when the education is provided...

I work at a major state university in Texas and we are not having the problems that Arizona is having. Even though state revenues are down some due to the recession, the state government wisely established a rainy day fund years ago which is helping to cover certain things. At my university, enrollment is up due to the recession. Many people are going back to school to upgrade their skills and knowledge. Texas does a pretty good job holding the line during the bad times. Maybe some positions go unfilled for a longer period of time, but we make due and every year there is some money available for merit increases during our annual evaluations, even if it is fairly modest.

Elections have consequences ping....its the natural outcome of electing, time after time, liberal 'rat hack governments.

....will people ever learn.....

.....there is a case study of what happens when radical leftists get a lot of power in the pitiful plight of Zimbabwe. Its there for everybody to study..and learn from.

I mean, there's every liberal disaster in the book there....a once robust exporting economy destroyed, stolen farms, with the "new owners" eating the seeds for the next crops, failed "wealth transfer", failed banks, failed businesses, hunger, extreme poverty, hyperinflation, and an "elitist" ruling class living in relative, in-your-face luxury....

...and the really bad part is that we, right here in river city, have people in charge with exactly the same mentality and agendas as Mugabe.

Obama....Mugabe...the same guy half as old....from the same place.
