Well, despite armors and weapons, the character looks like a typical metrosexual found in Japanese animation or computer game.

All those quasi-caucasian and metrosexual looks have the enduring fixtures in Japanese manga or animation. To me, it is a turn-off feature, but girls go wild with it. They are conditioned to go after metrosexual Caucasian guys.

I was thinking that character had a delicate face and effeminate pose, but then I wondered if it was supposed to be a girl dressed as a guy.

Quite frankly most women in the world today are so messed up as to what they want. They want a traditional man to make them feel safe and provided for. They want a modern girly man to understand their feelings and be supportive of all of their pursuits.

I think men are in the same confused mess. They want a traditional wife and mother for their children. A second later they want her to be gorgeous and alluring and adventurous. That’s a tall order and not easily accomplished by anyone.

The battle of the sexes has turned into the defeat of the sexes.

Chinese have a quantity, which, according to a quote usually attributed to Stalin, has quality of its own.

I think one tattoo would be more than sufficient, thank you.

“girls love bad boys”

Some ‘girls’ maybe, but women with more than two neurons and some level of maturity don’t. Irrespective of how attractive or any other attributes she might have, any woman dumb or immature enough to have that attitude would not be attractive to me in the least. Boring.

Well, that is a man, in their animation anyway. They draw female characters differently. Butch girl type(like Xena) is rarely seen in Japanese animation.

I highly recommend anyone see “Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters”, Schrader’s take on one of the more enigmatic figures in Japanese history. Ultrarightist proponent of the code of Bushido who was also a Friend of Dorothy. As TLR pointed out, however, he was still, despite his lifestyle, more of a man than 99% of the mama’s boys who call themselves men in Japan.

There’s a lot of self-hatred, in anyone who would deface themselves like that.

The battle of the sexes has turned into the defeat of the sexes

A permanent stalemate ensured by legal and ethical codes imposed by liberals.

For people who are living in an affluent society, they are really in cultural and psychological mess.

This is why I would never like liberals or any kind of leftism. They are in eternal contempt over natural order. It is their outdated belief that everything is the product of social system, and they can erase anything they do not like by rearranging social structure. The world is like a messed up drawing they can erase with their super-erazor and recreate.

If a man is wearing armor, how can you tell if his torso is rippling?

Actually that is a myth.

A real warrior of the period would not have rippling muscles. Not because he was not muscled but because he would carry enough subcutaneous fat to both have energy stores for fighting extended battles and water for the loss of water through perspiration.

The exaggerated “cut” physique of the low body fat super fit male bodybuilder would not survive long in the hand to hand battles of the medieval period.

He would quickly exhaust the energy stores in his muscles and sweat away the little stored water in his meager body fat. This would cause him to lose control of his muscles because of electrolyte imbalance in his blood. He may even suffer a heart attack or stroke.

Unless he has frequent access to water, fruit and salt during the battle I suspect he would quickly parish.

An army marching and in battle consumes a huge number of calories a day. Many a war has been lost because the loosing army’s supply lines were cut or could not keep up with the advancing army.

A certain amount of body fat is absolutely essential in a line soldier for a number of reasons.

A wise man once said that an army travels on its stomach. Without supply lines, armies lose. When those supply lines are cut, armies lose.

I’ve had a crush on Toshiro Mifune for years. Too bad he’s dead. Great actor and physically up to the Samurai roles he portrayed.

I’ve wondered what was up with these girly men the Japanese seem to adore in their films and music. But, ugh, I don’t think these women would really prefer the thugs from history. It’s the idea of a strong man that they want.

If you want to find out what drives some social trend in E. Asia, take a look at their animation or comic books. People are exposed to it since their childhood. Even fully grown, they are still into it.

Many popular dramas or movies are based on animation or comic book characters or their storyline.
