China tells U.S.: No deal

COPENHAGEN — China’s climate negotiators have told Western counterparts they can’t agree to an “operational agreement” on climate change that President Barack Obama had hoped to bring home from Copenhagen –- and will push for a short, noncommittal collective statement at the end of the talks, according to American staffers briefed on the situation.

It’s not clear if remarks by Chinese officials, made during negotiating sessions on Wednesday night, signal the end of efforts to reach a significant agreement or simply represent an 11th hour bargaining tactic less than a day before Obama was due to arrive in Copenhagen.

But U.S. officials fear it's the former, with little time left to negotiate a real deal before COP 15’s conclusion Friday.

Lead U.S. negotiator Todd Stern told POLITICO late Wednesday that his staff had not engaged in one-on-one “bilats” with China for a whole day – and hadn’t even addressed a major issue, a proposed “border tax” on countries that flouted international accords. That provision was included in the cap-and-trade measure the House passed in July – and no bill omitting it is likely to pass the Senate.

Something’s wrong when I find myself rooting for China... and I am rooting for them. What is happening to my world?

It’s amazing that we trust the Russians and Chinese more than our own government, and that’s the patriotic position to take. You know why I trust the Russians and Chinese? Because they can be counted on to act in their own national interest. That makes them reliable, to some extent. Unless they agree to something NOT in their own national interest, then you can count on them to cheat.

Russian and Chinese... And even the Saudi’s.

Russians for exposing the global warming fraud...

The Asians and the Chinese for not wanting to commit economic suicide...

and the Saudi’s for being the only party to call for an investigation into the fraud.

Now just please let Iran toss out their dictator !!!

Now that I think about it, if the Chinese allow the US to bind themselves to something that’s sure to sink the US economy, how are they ever going to get their money back? They actually NEED us to generate wealth.

China also DETAILED and PREACHED to him how we are spending trillions of dollars on foolish things.

I like to think of it as a "workout session" where the debtor "works out" a repayment plan for a creditor. Much like he's been doing to the bankers and auto execs. Bastard deserves it.

I think five years ago China would have agreed to a deal in order to hoist us on our own petard. Now they’re worried about their investment, and they have to keep us upright.

They are doing what they believe to be in their country’s self interest. The Usurper Onada and his Marxist gang are trying to destroy this country.

It is a strange mix of interests in which an economic rival and potential military rival is more concerned about our economic interests than the ruling regime in this country.

So the real enemy is some secretly hostile power that controls the US government while China, Russia, and Saudi Arabia try to help the American people? Very strange.

I think he may have waited too long... few respect him. I’m not sure he could mount a coup now. I think it may be too late for him to do that. Or maybe that’s wishful thinking.

>> God works in mysterious ways.

Isn’t that the truth? The LORD has confounded the forces of evil in so many unusual ways.

Most folks focus on how screwed up the world is — can’t blame them, really — but I see the hand of God working everywhere.

“The earth is the LORD’s, and the fulness thereof...” and He will take care of it until such time as He decides to do away with it.

There are two base worldviews:
“God is Truth”
vs
“The Lie (God is a construct of man, man determines truth, right and wrong)”

Yep, and I’m going with (A), myself. My lyin’ eyes tell me it’s a “no-brainer”. Seriously — I think God is the Occam’s Razor explanation for life’s mysteries. Man must resort to flimsy “house of cards” constructs to deny the obvious existence of God.
