Walpin-Gate Suit Has New Motion
The Washington Times ^

Posted on 12/17/2009 10:43:31 AM PST by MadisonReagan

Complete with a raft of documents and exhibits, fired AmeriCorps Inspector General Gerald Walpin on Wednesday filed a motion for summary judgment in his lawsuit demanding reinstatement to his job -- his own motion not even waiting for the judge to rule on the Obama administration's motion to dismiss the case without hearing or trial. A close perusal of his motion, affidavits, and exhibits suggests to me, for the first time, that this case has potential to reach the Supreme Court regardless of how the lower court rules.... Thus we get a glimpse of the tangled web of interests and embarrassments of Obama allies on which the firing of Mr. Walpin put a kibosh. In logic if not in law, this raises the specter of obstruction of justice....

I'll side with the Merriam-Webster dictionary on this one: One syllable, clear meaning, I like it.

I pray every night for God to expose 0bama and his administration for what it is.

Slowly my prayers are being answered.

Patience.

Patience.

Are there any laws to keep the first lady from being indicted?

Meanwhile, Mayor Kevin Johnson keeps the $800,000 in federal funds.

And since IG Walprin was fired, Mayor Johnson can get even more money.

This is the same Mayor Johnson allegedly involved in prior incidents involving inappropriate contact with minors. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Johnson

“The Sacramento Bee stated that they had received a copy of a proposed settlement agreement, under which Johnson would have paid the girl’s family $230,000.” Obviously, Mayor Johnson needs the $800,000 in federal funds.

Later on in that document I posted the former executive director says that the board had an individual come in and delete all of the emails Kevin Johnson sent to the board members.

It also states that Kevin Johnson personally stored all of the financial documents in his private office. On top of that, the U.S. Attorney settled with Johnson the same day the email deletion was reported... this is totally insane, that a President would go this far to defend a crook like Kevin Johnson.

> Are there any laws to keep the first lady from being indicted?

None that comes to mind.

Hillary Clinton was forced to testify before a grand jury concerning her investments in Whitewater in January 1996. This was the first time in American history that a First Lady had been subpoenaed to testify before a grand jury.

Although Whitewater happened BEFORE Mr. Clinton assumed the presidency, his Justice Department could have argued that such testimony as First Lady could conceivably damage the OFFICE of the President. But Gingrich and the Republican majority would surely have fought such a move — a TRUE balance of power as the Founders intended.

Mr. Obama should NOT be able to invoke Executive Privilege as Mrs. Obama is not (and was not) an actual employee of the Executive Branch — any assumptive capacity Mr. Obama may have "assigned" her should NOT count, especially if Congress is willing. I would think that based upon the current public mood toward Congress, they'd punt any controversy to the Courts.

Even if the “order” came directly from the POTUS, I'm not sure that would even insulate her, per se. No precedence that I'm aware of exists, although I'm sure the Justice Department would still try to set one. A Republican majority in Congress would surely pounce on that one in January 2011 when they swear in. In the meantime, such a move would likely be indefensible from the current Congress as the 2010 Elections loom.

Mrs. Obama could not be compelled to testify against her husband. However, since the charges seem to be directed to her, that point is moot — UNLESS Mr. Obama DID give her the "order," which would have a different set of consequences in the Court of Public Opinion.

Just because M-W picks up on the vernacular doesn’t mean the rest of us have to follow them right off the cliff. “-gate” is one of the more annoying crutches of today’s drive-by media.

There’s no “cliff.” It’s a complete thought communicated with a single syllable. How would you replace it?

As long as reason trumps emotion, I’ll continue to embrace the use of “-gate” and dismiss “homicide bomber” as utterly stupid.

Thank you so much for posting this article.

This scandal has been something that has been on my mind...wondering what happened with Walpin.
If it wasn't for all the other shenanigans being done daily to the American people, this would/should be getting more attention.

Here’s the thing....

...allegedly the fine, fine Rahm Emmanuel threatened Ben Nelson with the closing of Offut air base if he didn’t vote for health care.

The defense is for the WH to pooh-pooh this as an idle threat, that a separate and independent entity closes military bases, the threat meant nothing.

and yet, boom, right here we have an independent entity such as Inspector Generals who can’t be fired without approval of the senate.

And yet...well golly gee, Michelle gets the guy fired and what...that’s the end of it?

And I’m supposed to believe that the threat about Offut air base is idle, that it can’t be done by Obamer alone?

I’m jus’ sayin’.

IMO this CA connection and emphasis is just a maneuver to cover the other hand: What was happening with Americorp in NYC University.

Yes, MO has connections to CA, but IIRC there were other connections in the administration with connections to NYC.

Follow the magic trick?...Slight of hand.
