Naked at home, convicted of indecent exposure

FAIRFAX, Va. - As Erick Williamson sees it, being naked is liberating, and if passers-by get an eyeful while he's standing in front of a picture window, that's not his problem.

A Fairfax County judge saw it differently Friday, convicting Williamson, 29, of indecent exposure in a case that raised questions about what's OK when you're in your own home.

Two women said they saw much more of Williamson than they cared to in October, even though he never left his home. He received neither jail time nor a fine but is appealing anyway, saying a larger principle is at stake.

Two different women over two hours, one from a car on the street that called police and the second two hours later on a pathway near the house when he opened the screen door to expose himself to the mother and child, he was looking for an audience, he would not have shot the mother and child.

In the fifties, this guy would have been due an ass whipping and the authorities, and the same in the 1790s.

What if it was your kids passing by and he’s posing for them?

What if your kids saw this statue in an art museum?

Did Franklin expose himself to the women and children of the neighborhood?

John Quincy Adams did. He regularly skinny dipped in the Potomac. He was caught there by one of the first female journalists.

We all know about the female reporter story but I was unaware of the women and children being exposed to his nakedness, will you post your source for that part?

I used to live next door to nudists when I lived in DC. It never dawned on me I could call and complain they weren’t into the whole keeping their curtains drawn. However, their house was set back from the street, it was only their neighbors who got the full monty.
This ruling makes the libertarian in me rather nervous.

I disagree: BOTH those peepers would have been ridiculed and estranged from their community for invading the privacy of the subject of their complaint.

That said, what kind of man struts around his home in the altogether for several HOURS?

I maintain that HE is NOT the problem, but there are several issues here that are not addressed by this OLD story. Posting the SAME story 3 or more months later without ANY updates is IDIOTIC!!

Or is our FRiend just a moron? OLD news is not NEWS, it’s OLD!

Why didn’t the cops arrest the peeping Tammies? I thought looking through peoples windows to get your jollies was a crime in most states and cities?

I worked 2nd shift for years after I retired from the Navy, got real tired of these people knocking on my door about 10:00 AM 3-4 times a week to save my soul. Answered the door ONE time naked, with nothing in my hands except my 1911. Never got bothered again.

There were no peepers, one woman called police after seeing a man exposing himself to her when she was in her car, while he was at the front window, the other woman and her child were walking on a path close to the house, two hours later, (about 8:40am) when the same man opened his screen door and stood there exposing himself as they walked by.

One victim called the police who drove by to see if they noticed anything and two hours later the second victim called police, peepers are charged, in this case there were no peepers, only a flasher that was convicted of exposing himself.

Those are full length windows, he also opened a door to expose himself to the mother and child (for them he did a door and a window), is what the jury found.

What? Female reporters don’t count as women? The Prez was regularly swimming naked in the river near the WH, not in private. It was a well enough known habit that a reporter could trap him in the act.

For that matter, LBJ was known to regularly invite people to skinny dip in the WH swimming pool.

No a female reporter that learns where to pull that stunt by sitting on his clothes at some portion of a river does not mean that he was exposing himself to women and children,if you can show that he exposed himself to women and children then show me the source.

LBJ in a private pool, out of the public eye? a female reporter? You’ll have to do better than that to justify men exposing themselves to women and children.

Whose trying to justify it? Just saying that some historical figures went nude in public/semi private places.

All you know is that a female reporter found out where his secret spot was and caught him on his 5am dip, she could hardly have blackmailed him and been the first woman to interview a president if he was willing to step out of the water and gather his clothes, you haven't shown anything to do with this case of a man being convicted of showing himself to two different women and a child.

That's because I'm not trying to.

Chill out a bit. All I was doing is responding to the thread with a bit of historical trivia. Someone mentioned Ben Franklin, I responded. End of story.
