Shares of Ford Motor Co. hit their highest price in more than four years as the broader market rose Tuesday. Shares of the Dearborn, Mich.-based automaker traded as high as $9.88 in Tuesday's session, their highest price since October 2005. Shares recently traded up 18 cents at $9.85. Ford shares have nearly quadrupled in value in the year to date as the company rolled out new products like the Ford Fusion midsize sedan, cut costs and managed to avoid government aid and bankruptcy protection unlike its crosstown rivals General Motors Co. and Chrysler Group LLC.

They need to slow down or congress will threaten to tax their windfall profits.

We are looking at Ford also. I respect how they handled the whole Obamamotor issue.

Yep, they are reaping the rewards of telling the federal government to stuff it. Nobody in their right mind is going to buy Obama’s General Motors or Chrysler cars.

I think when the day comes (and my car is currently paid off so I’m running it until it stops) I am targeting an Edge. So it is solid as advertised?

I wonder when they will realize people aren’t buying Government Motors two other companies.

If they are successful on buying out UAW workers with early retirement and get the UAW out of their business, my next car will BE a Ford, even though I grew up a Chevy girl..

“So it is solid as advertised?”

I like it and Mrs. Duntno thinks it is great...it has all the hands free, iphone syninc, etc. that the expensive cars have and the SEL (the one I bought) has a sun roof, seat warmers etc....the ride is a little stiffer than she would like, but it handles pretty well for a bigger car - it sits up high, but the actual size isn’t much bigger than my old T-bird...the last full size one, ‘95, not the knock offs...and it gets reasonable mileage...all around, a good car if you need to lug stuff...auto tailgate for the wife, etc, so she doesn’t have to wrestle it..I just drove the new Taurus and like it...it isn’t the car my 97 Caddy is, but there aren’t many in that price range that are...it ain’t a GM, and it is good enough for me, though...

I know a lot of this is due to people going over to Ford from GM and Chrysler, simply because they would not THINK of buying from Obama Motors.

“Are you getting the Eco Boost? That is a hot engine...”

Nope...I’ll pass on that one for now...I like the 24-valve DOHC Duratec...my Edge has one and it has enough juice for that car, it’ll be fine for this one...we’ll wait a few models, I think...I was tempted by the CTS-V for my next car, so I’ve got nothing against fast...I drove one and those are little rocket sleds...but I might get into trouble with one of those little honkers...a good old reliable Ford with a proven engine seems like the way to go for now...I might need a while...I owned a ‘79 El Camino for 16 years and would have bought the new one Pontiac was supposed to deliver next year had they stuck around...something about a pick up in a Tuxedo that I really liked...

Fitting to see this at the same time that Government Motors is teetering on the edge of their second bankruptcy in less than a year.

Buh Bye Obamotors!

Last August my wife and I were looking for another Ranger to replace the 1985 Ranger that we wore out. At the dealership we noticed a new Edge Limited that had just unloaded from the truck and wasn't even cleaned up.

I looked at it and the manager asked if we wanted to take it for a drive. It had 14 miles on the odometer.

I drove it up the freeway about 5 miles. My wife drove it back. It was loaded. Still haven't learned how everything works.

I asked the wife if she like it. She did. She asked if we should by it. We needed it like another body orifice.

We went old-age crazy and bought it on the spot.

Great car. Has a nice rumble to the exhaust. Drives like a sport car. Looks great as well. Can't wait until spring comes and the roads clear so can drive it without it getting dings from the gravel.

Congress and the marxists in the White house are busy now, but as soon as they can, they will get around to destroying a business that has managed to do well without their “help.”

I have a 2006 Fusion that we like very much. Despite being a old dude, I really like the specs on the 2011 Mustang 3.7 V6. With leather and bun warmers, it should be a respectable performer with good fuel milage.
