I fly all the time and if I wanted to do mischief, it would be super easy to defeat the security precautions in place, no matter what they do.

They are reactionary only. I, too, travel frequently enough these days to spot the incomptency from a country mile away. Most of the TSA I come in contact with are okay...but there are enough bad ones, too.
In this case, Amsterdam officials were responsible for all screening of this passenger. So, I don’t know what Napolitano is referring to when she says ‘The system worked’. What system, Amsterdams?
They did point out that this person could have gone to the bathroom and exploded the device there. Or he could go to the bathroom an hour before the end of the flight and come back to their seat to explode the device 30 minutes before landing.
There is nothing in these new rules that changes his ability to set off a bomb. They only make me feel like not flying anymore. A vacation seems like to much of a drag.

Dead easy. . .especially going through the x-ray machine. . .shoes off. . .I had foot powder on and left footprints and they didn’t even comment or stop me. . .could have been anthrax for all they knew. As it was, I was leaving foot fungus in the portal.
