Alexandria, LA business owner defends himself against 3 armed robbers (LA)

The owner of an Alexandria, Louisiana fireworks stand reportedly used his handgun to fend off three armed robbers.

Police say that the husband and wife who own the fireworks stand were preparing to close for the day when the wife noticed a young man acting suspiciously. The wife reportedly notified her husband, at which point he got his gun and kept it ready. At closing time, the suspicious young man and two accomplices drew their handguns as part of a robbery attempt, police say. The fireworks stand owner reportedly then drew and fired his own gun in self defense, ending the violent robbery. One of the suspected robbers, 20 year old old Sheldon Fisher, died at the scene while another suspect, 18 year old Charvick Rachal, survived and was listed in stable condition at a local hospital, according to police. Rachal will reportedly face armed robbery charges upon his release from the hospital, and police are seeking a third suspect. The husband and wife who own the fireworks stand were unharmed.

Most of the time, a crime does not come as a complete surprise. There is often some indication in advance that all is not right.

Well, it is good that this episode was preceded by suspicious activity. It does not always happen that way. These people performed above and beyond their duty...

That’s a very good result, although 3 bodies on the ground would have been the ideal.

Are we hearing anything from the D.A.’s Office regarding charges against the proprietor of the fireworks stand?
It would not surprise me if he tries to charge the citizens who defended themselves with some trumped up charge.

You are right. I've seen people ready to swing at me and I would call
them out before hand and tell them not to think about it, causing them
to back down. This was in my club days but the signs are always there.

I like how the victim drew and fired making it sound like he didn't
pause to let the perp' see his weapon. Never pause once the guns are out.

If the robbers never got a shot off then I can see some bleeding heart liberal D.A. trying to use the shopkeeper’s competence and presence of mind to make the thieving scum look like the victims.

The States Attorney's Office in Rapides Parish (Alexandria, LA) will most likely make no adverse action on this business owner. Most Southern states have statutes that support this type of activity. Florida has the Stand Your Ground law; you get legitimately threatened (at home, in your car) you simply take them out. No questions asked.

In Louisiana, you play, you pay. And that's a good thing.

Good on those folks. They did not ignore the suspicious behavior. They recognized at as criminal precursor and acted appropriately.

All predators give signs of predatory/attack behavior if you watch them and can recognize it.

This is good. But this is the kind of thing the liberals hate. They would rather have the hard-working, honest, taxpaying, successful business person hand over the money that he has worked hard for to the useless slob who votes democrat.

Absolutely — the scum need to realize the consequences going in. More and more law abiding citizens are taking this bastards to task. It is a good thing.

(sniffle-sniffle) Sheldon was a really good boy and *wouldn't harm anyone*, he just got *mixed up with the wrong crowd*. But he was *turning his life around* and thought of *going back to school* and even *had a job interview, 'tomorrow'.*

Yep, he needs to get his wife a gun.

The least he could have done was read him his Miranda rights before executing him.

Does LA not have a Felony Murder Statute? It seems to me the surviving perp should be charged with Felony Murder as well.
