Plane Bomber Was Anti-War Activist in London (Freeper Research Thread)
Tuesday, December 29, 2009 | Kristinn

Keying off an article in the UK Times Online about Northwest Airlines flight 253 bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab organizing an antiwar seminar called "War on Terror Week", I did some quick research before the links get scrubbed.

From the Times:

According to isocnews.com, an online magazine for Muslim students, War on Terror Week at University College London was one of the events of the year in 2007. There was a slick video advertisement for the event, an eye-catching poster and packed lecture theatres for five days of discussions about Guantánamo Bay, allegations of torture and the subject of “Jihad v Terrorism”.

The website reported the week of talks as “informative, relevant and always entertaining — the audience got involved with a good mixture of Muslim and non-Muslim attendees asking tough questions of the speakers”. In a corner of the poster, the event is declared to have been “approved by Umar Farook, president of UCLU Islamic Society”. The speakers advertised included George Galloway, the Respect MP; Geoffrey Bindman, the human rights lawyer; and former Guantánamo Bay detainees.

The Nigerian student who organised “War on Terror Week” in January 2007 is now better known as Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the would-be suicide bomber who tried to blow up a transatlantic airliner last week.

Mr Galloway said last night that he did not attend any of the events in War on Terror Week and had no record in his parliamentary diary of any contact with UCL Islamic Society. Mr Bindman, a visiting professor at UCL, said that he could not recall the event or meeting Mr Abdulmutallab.

Little Green Footballs ran a thread about it back then and saved the promo poster:

In the lower left hand corner one can see "approved by Umar Farouk..."

Here's a larger version hosted at imageshack.us from the Ummah.com thread about War on Terror Week:

Umar and his pals at UCL Islamic Society were savvy enough to put a video up on YouTube at the UCLU channel promoting the event.

The Islamic Society's partner in War on Terror Week, UCL Union Stop the War Society, posted six pictures at their Web site from the event. Here are two:

The UCL Islamic Society was pretty excited about the event. They posted at their Web site about a big pre-WOTW night out on the town:

Night out 2 Pandoos!

Well before the intensity of the War on Terror hits us, we felt the need to organise a night out and what better way to relax and enjoy yourselves than to, chill, sit back and enjoy some good halal food! Add to that the fact that it will be discounted heavily and your in for a right treat! For £5, you'll get half a chicken, chips and a drink, and this isn't just any old chicken, it's a Pandoos chicken!

To join us as we chill ISoc style, be sure to meet us at 5pm outside Bloomsbury Theatre (Gordon Street) and we'll make our way to the infamous Brick Lane.

Date: Friday 26th January (i.e. Tonight)
Time: 5:00pm
Meeting Place: Bloomsbury Theatre
Restaurant: Pandoos (Brick Lane)
Wassalam,
UCLU Islamic Society

That a terrorist would emerge from the antiwar movement is no surprise to those who are paying attention. Obama's pal Bill Ayers went from anti-war activist to terrorist in a short time.

The modern antiwar movement in America works hand in hand with Islamic terrorists and, like the Stop the War Society, works with radical 'Islamic Societies.'

The antiwar movement has one other tie to Umar the bomber. He claims he went to Yemen to study Arabic. Funny, so did this character with Iraq Veterans Against the War:

From the Yemen Times, 2008

A former U.S. Navy lieutenant has been living in Sana’a for seven months, having resigned in protest from serving in Iraq. Harvey Tharp was a full lieutenant in the U.S. Navy when he was called to serve in Iraq due to his knowledge of the Arabic language. Upon his departure from Yemen, he spoke to The Yemen Times about the moral challenges he faced, which led to the ending of his military career, and what he learned from his time spent with Yemeni people.

What will you do when you return to the U.S.?

I’m a member of the Iraq Veterans Against the War. As the only officer who has joined, I’m the highest ranked. When I was in military school, I was taught that if you find yourself completely alone in your stance, you’re probably wrong. This time, though, I don’t think I’m wrong.

I’m going to Washington, D.C. for the winter soldier hearings from March 13-16. Fifty members from the Iraq Veterans Against the War will testify to war crimes they witnessed or even participated in and I’ll be there in support.

SNIP

Why did you come to Yemen?

Due to my time in Iraq, I developed post-traumatic stress disorder, so I’m unable to work and I have some spare time. I wanted to improve my Arabic to see if I could get back into translating and I heard that the Yemeni dialect is very close to standard Arabic, as well as that it seemed like a very interesting place to visit.

SNIP

Who are you going to vote for in the upcoming U.S. presidential election?

I’m disappointed that Barack Obama – who campaigned against the war from the start – hasn’t committed to pulling troops out of Iraq immediately. However, he’s the best anti-war candidate, so I’ll vote for him.

Let me be clear, I'm not accusing Harvey Tharp of being a terrorist. I'm just pointing out that he went to Yemen, of all places, to study Arabic just like Umar the bomber. Just a coincidence that two antiwar activists go to Yemen, that's all.

P.S., here is the You Tube video by the UCL Islamic Society for Justice Week 2008. Nice of them to do it in English for us.

The INSANITY of the TERRORIST ATTACKS we are now experiencing – and will cost many, many more American civilian lives — can be laid at the feet of earlier DEMOCRATS! Does any sane person think these “NEW” Democrats will solve the problem, especially a party headed by a president born of a muslim father and raised in muslim cultures?

Here’s the story.

Back around 1975, DEMOCRAT (who woulda guessed?) Idaho Senator Frank Church held hearings on the operation of the CIA and found that — HORRORS — taxpayer money was being paid to foreign citizen snitches with CRIMINAL RECORDS for vital human, on-the-ground intel on the activities of those who were planning the destruction of this country. Church commented at one session that “Gentlemen do not read other gentlemens’ mail.” Interesting how Church and his fellow Dimocraps viewed men who would destroy America “gentlemen.” Glad that a**hole didn’t serve during the run-up to WWII. (Although he may have handled the “delayed” communication to Pearl Harbor that the Japanese were on the way!)

When he became president, Jimmy Carter fully supported and enforced the Church Amendment.

The sorts of people who consort with — and, more importantly, get cozy with — the leaders of terrorist organizations are not normally choir boys. Church moved the legislature to PROHIBIT any US funds going to these potential informants. Since it can take upwards of 20 years for these guys to move close enough to the top to be seriously valuable, we had virtually NO humintel on bin Laden’s plans for 9-11!

While there are still Church-like imbeciles (Reid, Pelosi, et al come to mind) at the levers of power here, I THINK the law has been changed.

While the NSA wiretaps and eavesdrops on US citizens HERE, isn’t it comforting to know that – while the TSA is inspecting grandma’s bloomers — in just 15 or 20 years we may be able to thwart a plan hatched THERE for some future 9-11 with information gathered THERE.

Now our guys are required to MERANDIZE enemy combatants NOT wearing uniforms and displaying NO recognizable military patches, etc., etc., all of which, de facto, removes them from the protections afforded under the Geneva Convention. In past conflicts, the Geneva Convention permits the capturing forces to shoot these guys on the spot. Of course, any trooper caught doing that would be up on charges in the morning.

Anybody else see a pattern here?

The morons now “leading” (and I use that term very loosely) the United States have finally achieved something I thought impossible: They’ve tied BOTH our hands behind our backs. They will get MILLIONS of us KILLED before they are removed from office – hopefully in 2010 and 12.

“Whom God would destroy, He first makes mad.”

The MADNESS continues. Surely, our destruction awaits.

Am I alone in believing that that is PRECISELY what Obama and his radical leftist Chicago thugs want?

What the hell could that Navy LT have possibly done in Iraq to get PTSD? It looks more to me like he got caught up in the “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy re homos on “Man-Love Thursday” in that part of the world.

Good God. It’s just like the 60’s. Mirror image.

You're absolutely right. I was a teen during the 60's. Hated what was happening to the country then and here we are once again. History DOES repeat itself when the wrong people are in charge.

Excellent work. The left-wing has continually forged a war campaign against America on three flanks:

1.) Wage a continual campaign against the moral argument for any action taken by the United States to defend itself for it’s enemies. (The anti-war movement, and anti-Bush movement.)

2.) Wage a continual campaign in support of the rights of the enemy. ( Close Gimto, give terrorist’s Consitutional rights, protect enemy communications across our borders, and too many more to list )

3.) Actively support the enemy. (The human shields, Code Pink, democrat members of Congress standing side by side with Saddam, liberal lawyers defending terrorists and even getting arrested for suppoting them, and this list is now growing as well)

Years and years ago I thought of writing a book called “The Sleeper Cell Party” about the democrats. Every year the book could be growing the more we learn. In every way the left-wing never ceases to show their hatred of America.

Entertaining??? Words are really failing me at this point. Is it too much for me to ask our government to keep us safe?

These are not anti-war activists like Quackers. They are activists for Militant Islam. They are members of the enemy camp. They are not against war. They are against the US from winning this war.

I wonder if they have pictures of him with Bill Clinton burning the American flag?

When is America going to learn that you don’t put someone in the Whitehouse who hates our country and freedoms!

The article was about our enemy in the UK. In regards to the Democrat Party in the US we agree. I believe the main reason the insurgency lasted so long in Iraq is that Democrat hacks in Congress gave the enemy hope that they might win. If jerks like Durbin had stood at Pres. Bush’s side instead of undermining him at every opportunity, the enemy in Iraq would have been finished by 2005.

Speaking of IVAW ... here's a comment from a freeper a while back on their head of European operations :
I am aware of this and they correspond with VVAW and VVAW&AI who still exis and are quite active. The black guy you see heading up the demonstrations in Europe is a guy named Darnell Summers. He attempts to be active with the troops but they just laugh at him. He spent his Vietnam tour in the stockade at Long Binh Jail. Drop them all a line and give them a piece of your mind. It makes a difference when you do that. THEY DO NOT LIKE IT. 13 posted on 12/26/2004 3:27:21 AM PST by U S Army EOD

kristinn,

The crotch bomber Abdulmutallab's & Ft Hood shooter major Hasan's & and 9/11 hijackers' helper, Imam al Awlaki / al Aulaqi, is a protege of Yemeni Imam al Zindani, who founded a university in Yemen.

al Zindani also was on the board of a front organization that funds both Hamas and the families of palestinian suicide bombers that is called the "Union of Good."

The head of the "Union of Good" is al Qaradawi, a Hamas supporter who was barred from the USA in 1999 but who was, along with Abdurahman Alamoudi [of Hillary's AMC fundraiding fame], involved with the Islamic Society of Boston and the big mosque they wanted to build which received a good deal of help in land deals with the city of Boston.

"Union of Good" is also financed by a charity called "Interpal" in the UK, designated as a terrorist group supporting Hamas back in 2003.

Glad we 100% agree.

Sorry about my second comment then. I should post a little more respectful and make sure I know another posters position.

It is amazing how the democrats (and their left-wing base) are able to get way with outright treason.

I am sure that the MSM or that any left-wing politicians will not address any of the close ties between the anti-war left and terrorism.

Saddam Hussein even thanked the anti-war left in his final letter before hanging.
