Limbaugh to Remain Hospitalized Overnight

HONOLULU -- Conservative radio talk host Rush Limbaugh was rushed to a Honolulu hospital on Wednesday afternoon with chest pains, sources told KITV.

Paramedics responded to the call at 2:41 p.m. at the Kahala Hotel and Resort.

Rush Limbaugh AP Image Rush Limbaugh Limbaugh, 58, suffered from chest pains, sources said. Limbaugh was sitting in a chair in his ninth-floor hotel room at the Kahala when emergency crews arrived, sources said. He told medical crews that he was taking medication for a back problem, sources said.

Paramedics treated him and took him to Queen's Medical Center in serious condition. He will not be released from the hospital on Wednesday night, sources said.

He was seen golfing at Waialae Country Club earlier this week. The country club is next to the Kahala Hotel and Resort.

The radio show host had been in the islands during the holidays. Coincidentally, his visit comes at a time when two of the nation's most powerful Democrats, President Barack Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, are also staying in Hawaii.

In 2001, Limbaugh received a cochlear implant after he suddenly lost hearing due to autoimmune inner ear disease. Limbaugh underwent treatment in 2003 for an addiction to prescription painkillers, including Lorcet, Norco and hydrocodone.

I wonder how the hospital is going to handle this cash only patient....I remember him saying he does not have health insurance and pays cash for everything and it throws some of the doctors office off balance....

Plus, overnight observation probably means they didn’t find anything truly serious. Great news!

I’m glad he is at the Queens Medical Center on Oahu. It is a great hospital with an outstanding cardiac unit. My own father was treated there for a hear condition years ago, to include heart surgery, and the doctors and staff were absolutely outstanding.

You can take anti-inflammatories as well. But, if he is on painkillers, it is because it is needed. He’s been in horrendous pain lately. If you haven’t had severe back pain, you don’t know how easy it would be. I had one bout where I sneezed and it hurt a little. I went to bed, and when I got up in the AM I had to pull myself to the restroom on my elbows. My legs wouldn’t work. It was too inflamed. I couldn’t climb the stairs or otherwise go to work for week and had to work from home laying on my stomach. Not fun.

If it had been an MI, they wouldn’t discharge him the next day. If it had been an MI, they would be doing extensive measures such as angioplasty, a cardiac catheterization, or other invasive procedures such as surgery if he had a blown artery or aorta or shown to have clogged arteries.

Also, it sounds as if the pain may be a reaction to medication he was taking. (Just a guess may be reading too much into what is in the note.)

So the good news is he is alive, and whatever has taken place seems to possibly be non-cardiac in nature.

My husband had a heart attack last year. No heart damage thank God. I know what it is like to have a loved one in that condition. It’s scary.

Thank you for posting that. It accepted my message even though I didn’t know the floor or room number. I’m sure they know exactly where he is without looking it up.

Great news that He’s doing better, and good for him to stay over night.

I’d check him for puncture marks, just in case someone jabbed him with something.

With Obammie AND Pelosi in the same area? Yeah, I’d be looking at a possible “hit”.

That’s the hospital the anointed one was born in... and the spokesperson is the one who said she saw the birth certificate, but no particulars, just that it was on file.

I also picked up on the back problem line. I know its not really my business, and its pure speculation....but I hope he hasn’t relapsed....for his own health, and his show’s health.

Taking medication for a back problem. Hmmmm, he isn’t back on the “pills” again, is he? I hope this man is OK, America needs him.

I would bet that it is Neurontin, there are warnings all over the label to immediately alert medical personnel that you are taking it. That makes you kind of paranoid when you are taking it.

Yeah its just a precautionary measure. I don’t mind him staying in the hospital overnight. I’d rather him be there being watched over then go home and then have another problem arise. This way he can be monitored more closely
