(Jan. 4) -- It's a new year, but some things never change. People will see a photograph of someone -- especially a hot-button personality -- and suddenly they feel imbued with the power to read minds. They are sure they can tell exactly what the person in the picture is thinking.
The latest example is a photo of President Barack Obama that triggered the first skirmish of 2010 between bloggers on the left and right.
Instapundit's Glenn Reynolds fired the opening shot when he posted the image from the White House Flickr page Sunday and invited his readers to "analyze the body language." The photo, which is nearly a month old, shows Vice President Joe Biden talking to the president before the Kennedy Center Honors. Obama is leaning against a wall with his arms crossed and his eyes barely open. He looks ... what? Sleepy? Bored? Deep in thought? Dismissive? Too hip for the room?
The picture quickly made its way around the Web, and interpretations of the president's expression piled up.
"He's tired and he's floating above it all," observed Ann Althouse, who then made the leap to predict this was a sign that Obama will not run for a second term.
Hot Air's Ed Morrissey looked at Obama's face and got the distinct impression that the boss wasn't pleased, claiming "the stern body language of the President towards his VP isn't a fluke."

Every time I see a photo of Obama, he’s either thinking “I hope noone finds out what I really am.” or “I can’t believe that I’m really pulling this off.”.
The guy on the right is zoned out...perhaps he needs a nicotine fix.
Pos thinks who the hell he is. He certainly isn’t my president. I can’t wait until the rats start deserting him.
“Hi Sailor, New in town?”
I don’t think he has that much ability to read himself that accurately. I think rather he’s thinking, Step 1, the US. Next stop, the world. I deserve it all because I’m the Best. There will never be anyone better.
"You are still clean, articulate, for a mainstream African-American. But we are gonna lose 2012. I don't care what that movie says."
...guess his grandmother never told him to keep his shoes off the wall
(plugs has to go for a reline)
“Of coarse I meant it when I said you were the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”
"zzZZZZZzzzt! *snort*! huh?"
"You wanna what? I ain't your damned slave. Get your own beer, honkey!"
"zzzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz............zzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

I must admit I feel Zero has got to be just as amazed as anyone else about his election, but alas it was a perfect storm
Jesus—just the thought that this 6-foot skidmark is the President of the United States makes me want to puke.
He can’t even stand up to his half-assed incompetent do-nothing first year in office. He’s exhausted-and he hasn’t done anything.
When you consider men like Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Grant, Eisenhower, Reagan, and the others—I mean, FDR, for all his faults, was a cripple in a wheelchair who fought the Depression and a world war on two fronts, and he had more vim and vigor than this lazy shiftless creep.

Perceptions of any photo are going to be influenced by preconceived notions and/or knowledge of the subjects, of course. Then, there’s always that projection thingy.
With that in mind, I’ll just say that anytime I see these two in a picture together it astounds me again that this country is in the scary position of having two people in power who aren’t as competent to be there as many average citizens, and I know that any average Conservative would make a lot wiser choices in choosing people to help and advise them about what to do and how to do it!
That goes for the whole of the Dem “leadership”.
God help us.
You know... I DO work for tips....
