Do roofers and lifeguards in southern latitudes only die from old age, and not from the common major diseases?

IF so, then why hasn't this been known for decades?

Some of them probably die from melanoma.

Milk is supplemented with Vitamin D-2, which all the online Vitamin D enthusiasts do NOT favor, they only believe in Vitamin D3.

However, I read an article about 2 years ago in which one researcher claimed that D-2 did, repeat: DID work as well as Vitamin D3.

I live in southern Arizona and probably average 3 hours/day outside. I'm more likely to get skin cancer than a vitamin D deficiency...but I also lived in England at one time, so I understand!

Huh?

You mean all these Americans suddenly supplementing with one to ten thousand international units a day MAY lose the ability to synthesize Vitamin D in their skin??????

Oh, that's great. Just great.

I don’t drink ir for the V-d but I can’t stand reduced fat or skimmed milk so it comes with the whole milk whether you want it or not!

Several years ago I read several articles at the Vitamin D Council which claimed that overweight people need substantially more Vitamin D, because when they injest Vitamin D, most of it goes directly into their fat cells and can't be used by the body.

But ... there is absolutely nowhere that I've ever seen if while losing weight if all that Vitamin D is released back into the body.

Do you happen to know?

From the article you posted:

"An excess of vitamin D causes abnormally high levels of calcium in the blood, which can eventually severely damage the bones, soft tissues, and kidneys. It is almost always caused by forms of vitamin D that require a doctor's prescription."

“I live in southern Arizona and probably average 3 hours/day outside.

If you use sunscreen, you are also limiting your vitamin D production severely....

I have a sister in Tucson. Nice area.

Anorexia is not the same thing as anorexia nervosa. Anorexia is loss of apetite. Anorexia nervosa is voluntary suppression of appetite by abuse of appetite suppressants, self induced vomiting, unrealistic perception of body size, etc.

You’ve just described the effect. My mother is 75 and underweight. The connection is troubling. Vitamin A can also do it, and I’m not sure how much of that she’s taking.

You have been quick to “quack” - do you know where the word came from? Medical doctors used quicksilver as medicine, and were called “quacks”. It is interesting that allopathic medicine continues to use poisons to treat patients, the still are the “quacks”, but would rather apply the term to those who treat naturopathically.

As for Hahnemann, the medical school in Philadelphia that bears his name was the last medical school to teach homeopathy. And contrary to your seemingly biased opinions, there is some merit in homeopathic remedies.

The pharmaceutical companies have turned MD’s into quacks. Some of the worst offenders are oncologists. Chemo kills patients. Lipitor causes heart attacks. The list is long. And the FDA protects them.

Wrong kind of D added to the milk you are drinking. Pasteurized, homogenized milk is not healthy.

But go ahead and get your medical advice from “Pajama Media” if you want.

Would that include taking advice from you, who are also anonymous? What do we know about you that we should take your advice over anyone else's?

Your *qualifications* are just your say so, just like everyone else who disagrees with you. From our perspective, there's no reason to take your advice over someone else's.

Because of this, the half-life of vitamin D in the liver is approximately 3 weeks (compare this to the vitamin A half-life of about 140 days).

Very useful information. Thanks for sharing that.

If you don't see the sun to begin with, that isn't going to be much of an issue.

However, notice the operative word,...*can* (may) whatever.

It would seem that it is not a given.

How about we discuss specific studies now.

Extraordinary claims need extraordinary evidence.

“reduce your risk of most major diseases by 50-80%” is an EXTREMELY extraordinary claim, so far backed by......

I haven't offered any medical advice, but noted that the suggestions of the Mayo clinic that I linked to sounded reasonable. But if you consider “pajama media” and this dufus a more credible source I wouldn't be surprised.

WHY are you telling me about anorexia nervosa?????

WHERE in my post to you did I say ANYTHING about anorexia NERVOSA????

Do you believe that you are the only person in the world who knows the meaning of the word 'anorexia'?
