Palin Sources Claim that She was Troubled by John Birch Society's Sponsorship of CPAC

Palin announced late Thursday that she would attend SRLC, joining Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee as announced speakers. Interestingly, Palin also announced on Thursday that she would not be speaking at CPAC, a gathering of conservatives in Washington in mid February -- a decision, according to those familiar with her thinking, due at least in part to the fact that the John Birch Society is one of the sponsors

......The decision to attend SRLC but not CPAC -- love those acronyms! -- seems to be a rare instance of Palin refusing to play to type, bucking the grassroots for a more establishment-oriented event. She still has much work to do in courting that establishment, however, as made clear by a new National Journal "Insiders" poll that more than 62 percent of the Republican professional political class said that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney was going to be their party's nominee in 2012. Romney was followed by Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, South Dakota Sen. John Thune and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour in the voting. Palin tied for fifth with Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels who has said repeatedly he is not running.

*****These idiots don't get it tthat it's a good thing that She is not approved of by the "establishment" Sheesh!

I’d take the JBS endorsement over the RNC’s

Of course this is not a credible source. For one its from the Washington Post and even they put it as “according to those familiar with her thinking”.

In other words they used themselves as their own source because they think they are familiar with her thinking.

I doubt Sarah has a problem with the John Birch Society but there are other sponsors of CPAC that might give her pause.

“according to those familiar with her thinking...”

Sarah Palin can and does explain her own thinking as she chooses.

I swear the left have lost their heads , comments like right winger hate the military and they never serve or freedom lovers of truth are happy Sarah is screwing in the knife to the GOP etc or even the pathetic attempt of excusing and making excuses for bozo saying there 57 states and by some on the right wing saying he might have confused wit 57 islamic states is racist.

The left just love to say racist this and racist that when one does not agree with them

How on earth can they say it is racist to mention there is 5is what maybe obama was reffering to.

They have lost the plot

If Palin is more concerned with enticing the “establishment types”.....then she would be another Liberal RINO.

I hope this article is not true...I am disappointed that SarahPAC contributed money to Lindsey Graham

So what’s up with the John Birch Society these days? Seems like they’ve been keeping a low profile for some time, but lately I keep seeing their name pop up here and there. As I remember them from some years back, they never would have associated themselves with the mainstream political class, even if they were conservatives. In any case, I don’t see why Sarah Palin would have a problem with them, unless she is concerned that the media will try to typecast her as a conspiracy nut.

>The left just love to say racist this and racist that when one does not agree with them

And the ones who say “racist” the most? WHITE LIBERALS.

I “converse’ with these elitists’ almost everyday here in L.A. and when they pipe in that libtard talking point, I ask them one simple question ‘How many non-white friends do you have?..all I see are white people in your group.”

That stops them cold. L.A. is a segregated city and nthat’s how it is, no matter what the left spins.

I bothered to study the JBS several years ago. Of course, John Birch was a hero that died fighting communists, but the organization that bears his name is in no way connected to him other than they both hate commies. I couldn't find anything wrong, frankly with the JBS. Some of their claims seemed a bit on the wild side, but I saw no harm in their claims. The Dems make more outrageous and wild claims every day. I've never joined or given money the the JBS, but they are far closer to my views than the Republican party.

She is not chasing the establishment.... CPAC is the establishment, it has been infiltrated with Romneybots and Lincoln log cabin members, also the head of CPAC had been trashing Sarah all last year.

If you haven’t heard, CPAC is now controlled by Romney-ites. Sarah made the right choice.

The left has one main tactic, co-opt conservative organizations. Send the message that smart conservatives want Romney, it’s only the un-educated tea party people that support Palin. You’ll hear it from now until 2012. They know they can beat Romney but are afraid of Sarah.

And the John Birch Society is irrelevant and not a player.

I call Shenanigans on this article! There really isn’t anything wrong with the JBS - it’s more libertarian and maybe there are some fringe members but you’ll find that in any group. At any rate a lot of their founding principles make sense.

This is just more proof of how incredibly aloof the elite media establishment is - just as they ‘analyzed’ why she stepped down as Governor... She isn’t attending CPAC because it’s run by an establishment crony who has done nothing but act like another corrupt inside-the-beltway snob who supports Romney & Specter, gets money for his endorsements, and disses Sarah when he gets the chance... I went to CPAC for the first time last year in hopes that Sarah may actually attend - this year I waited and figured I would only pay to go if she confirmed because I had a bad feeling about David Keene the more I read up on him and spoke to other people in the know... Thank you for saving me $$ Sarah Palin - I’ll contribute it to your PAC this month instead!

“A source close to the Palin camp says that request led to a decision to stay away from the upcoming CPAC conference, calling it a forum that will place “special interests over core beliefs” and “pocketbook over policy.

“That’s not what CPAC should be about and people are tiring,” the source said. “Palin is taking a stance against this just as she did in Alaska.”
