Three arrested in Heathrow security alert

LONDON, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Three men aboard an Emirates Airlines flight awaiting takeoff from London's Heathrow Airport were arrested after triggering a security alert, police say.

Scotland Yard said three men, aged 58, 48 and 36, were taken into custody aboard the plane Friday as it sat on a runway waiting to leave for Dubai, saying the men were arrested on suspicion of making a bomb threat, The Daily Telegraph reported.

A witness told Britain's Sky News that five armed policemen rushed aboard the plane and quickly handcuffed one of the men, described as a white male.

Soused out of their gourd or not, the public has little patience or humor for this sort of jesting today. And with the panty bomber and other close calls recently there is a lot in the meme pool to give rise to jests.

This actually reminds me of the scene in Meet the Parents where Ben Stiller’s character just goes ballistic and starts saying “bomb” over and over. The next scene you see him being carried off the plane.

In these dangerous times we live in, it’s not really prudent to even jokingly say or do anything that may cause alarm. Drunk or sober, these guys should face some serious punishment. Might make them think twice before they act like idiots.

[No matter the appearance of color (one witness could only confirm 'one' and not the other two; and it was not really a confirmation other than 'I think'); find it strange that while they have released their ages 58 - 48 and 36; and they have published 'witness' names; they have yet to give names of these perps who are still in jail.

Have been following this story from London papers - and Sky News thinking that perhaps they would appear 'somewhere' here - eventually; but still, they have not been identified. More than 'strange' - or maybe not.]
