Ditto that - Tork, I was just gonna answer your post last night which must have been a short time before the shaking started and momentarily clicked over to twitter and saw EQ - Eureka. Ugh Thanks to glockrocks, we know you’re ok.

We were living in San Marino California when the 1989 quake hit California, so we postponed our trip to San Francisco for a year. It was still a mess up there a year later, that collapsed double decker freeway, etc.

My first major EQ was the Tehachapi quake of 52 followed by a biggie here in Eureka in 54 and 6 or 7 since then and after surviving this I will tell you that they are over rated. The power was off for 4 hours and I didn't get internet connected until I called my ISP this morning and the pleasant young lady reset my cable modem. I was in no mood to deal with it last night. We didn't get our hearts to slow down for over a hour. We have not felt one single aftershock and there have been many. We lost several collectable items off the bookshelf in the great room which we have not cleaned up yet. There is a lot of damage to stores and homes but our son reports our rental buildings appeared fine last night. It a violent shake and I fully expected it to get worse but thankfully it stopped. We have had quakes of 7.2 followed by two more of 6.8 within 24 hours in 1992. My thanks to all who have sent money but several bottles of red wine will get me through this until the stores restock the broken inventory.. Times-Standard

I zoomed the pic and the bottles look intact.
Can you imagine how rank the broken ones smell?
The publics use of hand sanitizer has made me sickly sensitive
To stale alcohol odor.

Thanks for correcting the link. I’m still too rattled to test it but I’m surprised Glock didn’t hit me first. I went over to our Church about 90 minutes later and was shocked to see every light in the building lit up and a strange car in the lot. I walked in to find the cleaning service vacuuming away and he said the Pastor had already had been there and checked for damage.

I am glad to hear that you are OK and that I didn’t have to mobilize the happydog team to dig you out of the rubble. You’d have been disappointed anyway ‘cause any wine I’d have brought down would be drunk (as I would be) by the time I got there.

I am sure, once you gather the few wits about you, that you’ll use this as an excuse to get more points or some sort of an exemption for drivers in the league.

Seriously, I very glad you’re unscathed. Take it slow and easy and allow the 1st wife to ungrade any damaged goods at an outrageous cost. It’s only money, after all, and the most precious thing to you isn’t broken on the floor.

Is it Nascar yet?

Glad to hear of good health. Sorry to hear of spilt anything. Always rattled by quakes myself. We lived in San Diego in the 50's. I don't remember anything of note, but I do remember the constant rattle and strange vibrations. You never get used to them.

We don't suffer such over here at this time. I hope it remains that way. All I have to complain about is the power went out here for no reason during the Dallas romp. Not being a Dallas fan, I lost no sleep over the game. I cranked up my wood stove (+7 last night) and awoke around 2am when the power came back.

Happy Sunday to all, and a Nascar dream tonight! Feetball is a lousy substitute, and it's still a long way until March Madness.
