Nevada Sen. John Ensign said Monday it is wrong for his fellow Republicans to call for the resignation of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid over racially insensitive comments he made about President Obama.
Reid has apologized to Obama since a new book quoted him describing Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign as a light-skinned African-American "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one."
Ensign said Monday that Reid's apology was sincere and that the Nevada Democrat regretted how his comments were taken.
"I think we need to get away from this politics of gotcha," Ensign told KKOH radio in Reno.
"I don't think there's a person walking, certainly not a politician out there, that hasn't made comments they regret," he said. "When you make those comments, as long as you take responsibility for your comments and apologize for them, I think people should accept that."
Ensign said he was angered by how Democrats treated former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, R-Miss., after he suggested the country might be better off if Strom Thurmond, who ran as a segregationist, would have won the presidency in 1948. Lott resigned shortly after he made the comments.
"Democrats were really wrong in what they did to Trent Lott, and we shouldn't do the same thing to Sen. Reid," Ensign said.

Dodd in CT was toast but he decided to quit and the Dems may hold that seat in CT.
If Reid defaults now, the Democrats can run a false “conservative” and hold the seat. Somebody like Ben Nelson
I don’t understand what was so bad about reid’s statement. He was right. Americans wouldn’t vote for a black man that talks like a rap star. They wouldn’t vote for a white man that talks like andrew dice clay either.

If Brown gets in and Healthcare gets siderailed, and Reid stays in (only to be crushed), we might have a chance to survive this nightmare.
Yep. Reid is one of the most vulnerable Dhims now. Replacing him with another one, fresher and without baggage, will make our efforts more difficult come November.
Saw an interview with Ensign a year or two ago. He says, “Harry and I have agreed not to criticize each other.”
In this case a “Mortally wounded Harry “ is the gift that keeps on giving!
Instead Ensign is doing a typical Repuke maneuver which is to stand up for and defend a RAT bastard demoRAT whenever one happens to be on the ropes. Typical for Repukes to give aid & comfort to the enemy, when the enemy (demoRATs) don't cut the Repukes even a single micro-inch. It truly is the Stupid Party (Repukes) vs the Evil Party (demoRATs) and 99 out of 100 times, the Evil Party wins. That's why we need to throw every RINO out of office, from both the House & the Senate.
Ensign doesn’t want to go up before the Ethics Committee.

The point of all this is, it is not how one talks, it’s what they say.
Too many Americans voted for Zer0 based upon how he looked and how he sounded. They bought a car based upon the paint job and what the engine sounded like. The problem is they never even looked under the hood. Forget about the test drive, Zer0 only served 144 days in the senate.
