BEIJING) — China announced that its military intercepted a missile in mid-flight Monday in a test of new technology that comes amid heightened tensions over Taiwan and increased willingness by the Asian giant to show off its advanced military capabilities. The official Xinhua News Agency reported late Monday that "ground-based midcourse missile interception technology" was tested within Chinese territory. "We did not receive prior notification of the launch," Maj. Maureen Schumann, a Pentagon spokeswoman, said. "We detected two geographically separated missile launch events with an exo-atmospheric collision also being observed by space-based sensors. We are requesting information from China regarding the purpose for conducting this interception as well as China's intentions and plans to pursue future types of intercepts."

It’s a good thing that our great business, political and academic leaders made sure that so many Chinese engineers were educated in our universities and hired by our corporations, isn’t it.

China and the “Former” Soviet Union are building up their militaries and missile defenses, while we are dismantling them.

Completely different culture than Americans. In China education is social status. In America the use of credit, flashy cars and sales jobs like stock brokers and real estate agents are social status. If doesnt work out, vote for the biggest liar.

Say "Where's mine ?"

simple solution, use stealth technology to make missles that can’t be intercepted.

Ain’t it grand that the Clintons gave them the technology to accomplish such great things?

"In America the use of credit, flashy cars and sales jobs like stock brokers and real estate agents are social status."

But in the USA, a person has to have at least a bachelor's degree in women's studies, or something like that, and parents working for free traitors or government, to enjoy such high society pursuits. How could such loyal leaders maintain slavery, if many men in the USA were allowed to have fathers and go for engineering educations? ...and without lots of social programs and anti-small-business zoning regulations to misinform and break families, and stop them from producing? Those families would otherwise be potential domestic competition, you know.

Oh, well. The defaults on the high costs of all of that will come anyway, and so will the chance for a new leadership.

In China the two parent family is promoted. So is savings. It doesnt have our freedoms naturally, but it is avoiding our insanity and breakdown.

Chinese are much more conservative than Americans, yes, than Republicans!

Beijing Air Defense. The remains of two belts of HQ-2 sites (The new “Great wall”) left over from the cold war remain active. The defenses were modernized with S-300PMU SAMs in the 1990s.

Waiting for some popular liberal to loudly denounce the Chinese anti-missile test as “not being possible” ...

Missile defense is pointless against the U.S or Russia. But 40-50 missile interceptors does provide a highly effective shield against Japan and India.

You can’t have a rocket blasting off into space in a span of a couple of minutes with a nuke, designed to be “stealthy”.

The Chinese are going to be a dangerous threat that the Soviets could have never been.

Of course it was successful. We gave them all that good technology during the Clinton years.

Agreed. I've lived with them in upperclass-graduate-foreign student dorms, and that's pretty much what I saw (late 1980s). ...did a little language tutoring, too (English student). They kept trying to pair me up with one young woman who was shorter than the rest (hardly over 4' tall). I'm a bit of a tall man, so they were probably trying to be funny (monster American barbarian and all of that). Every time that they would walk by as a group, she would stare at me, her head wagging at little, with a goofy grin on her face. ...and a bumper crop of zits. The rest of them would laugh and urge her over to me.

I must say that she was cute, and a free, quiet dinner at my place (dating, of sorts--no sex or even talk of it, of course) would have been nice. But I couldn't do that, you know. They were likeable, though--all of them.

Then I went to Ft. Leonard Wood, somewhat older than most, for 13 weeks. Life is sometimes weird...but funny.

And most of them don’t have as much pride as we do. That is the scariest part of it all.

They are planning for the day when they can hit us and knock down our missiles. There is a Pearl Harbor of unimaginable consequences in the future, if we fail to keep pace.
