CPS says nearly 12 percent of the $704 million spent on its citywide school-rebuilding project since 2001 has gone to minority-owned companies.
But in recent weeks, Smitherman and NAACP members have argued that much less - only about $14 million, or 2 percent - is going to African-American workers, specifically, in the city of Cincinnati.
CPS was required to do business with x-percent of minority owned businesses. CPS complied however now the NAACP is complaining that not enough of the minority businesses are owned by blacks.
Only in 2010 could racisim be so brazenly obvious but acceptable.
Members of the NAACP and a Baptist ministers group warned at a school board meeting Monday night that they would oppose future tax levies if minority contracting figures aren't improved.
Meanwhile the GOP is running around in circles over Harry Reid...

In my view, this is one of the reasons that the Feds can’t spend their stimulus stash fast enough: they can’t figure out a way to keep it out of the hands of white males without getting called on the carpet for it.
The city of Cincinnati is following the Detroit model of “success”. Typical leftwing liberals/socialists on a path of failure.
H'mm.
I think I see an opportunity to lower taxes.
Or else?
Threats don’t mean much when you’re still inside the plantation gate.
The real racists here are the NAACP I thought this work was handled through competitive bidding and Qualification or does affirmative action creep in here also?
How about this crazy idea: contracts are put out for bid, low bidder wins? That way the taxpayers in Cincinnati get the most bang for their buck. Sure, in contracting you have to ensure the bids reflect an understanding of the work to be performed, and some due-diligence to ensure the contractor is actually capable of doing what he/she says they can... But really, artificially steering work/contracts towards one contractor or another or away based on race is racism, plain and simple. Surely the good civil leaders in Cincinnati don’t want to be seen as promoting racism, right?

HAHAHA! You’ve got a great sense of humor.
the cin city is a lost cause. too many idiot libs. too many blacks on the dole. God! the only reason i hang around is to care for my elderly parents.
Always time for some straight up “negro dialect” from Monica Conyers.

“Some Cincinnati civil rights leaders are demanding more work for blacks on public school construction projects.”
If you are not going to do the requisite work IN THEM, why on earth would you be hired to work ON THEM.
“Only in 2010 could racisim be so brazenly obvious but acceptable.”
I think Obama has set back race relations in this country by at least 60 years. He is a walking example of “no problem if you have no qualifications or experience for the job...”
I grew up in Cincinnati but now live in Clermont county. We look west to see the flames that is the city burning to the ground.
Mine was the comment about Harry Reid.
That is some funny video.
When Columbus Public Schools were starting a major building program a few years ago, the Board and black contractors openly tried to contrive the rules to give work to black contractors. Many board meetings were shown on the community access channel where the board tried to circumvent open bidding laws.
It’s time for a Democrat to make some promises to placate the mob.
Democrat: We promise to increase the number of minority contracts by 50% in response to the Republicans who are burning five black churches a month.
Mob: SAVE OUR CHURCHES!!!!!
