Former chief United Nations weapons inspector Scott Ritter was arrested in a Pennsylvania sex sting in November on a litany of charges involving a lewd Internet conversation with a person he thought was a 15-year-old girl.
Ritter, 47, allegedly masturbated in front of a Web camera while he was engaged in conversation in an Internet chat room with an undercover cop posing as the teenage girl.
The chief U.N. weapons inspector in Iraq from 1991-98, Ritter is accused of contacting the "girl" while using the handle "delmarm4fun" last February.
Ritter, of Delmar, N.Y., allegedly told the girl, "Emily," that he was a 44-year-old man from Albany, N.Y., according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Ritter was arrested in June, 2001,[32][33] and according to one source also in April, 2001,[citation needed] in connection with police stings in which officers posed as under-aged girls to arrange meetings of a sexual nature. He was charged with a misdemeanor crime of “attempted endangerment of the welfare of a child”, although the sealing of the court records in the case means as a legal matter there was no incident. Ritter claimed the anonymous leak of sealed court records of his arrest was a politically-motivated effort to distract attention from his statements about Iraq.[32][33][34]In November, 2009 Ritter was accused of contacting what he thought was a 15-year-old girl in an Internet chat room, engaging in a sexual conversation and showing himself masturbating on a Web camera. In December, 2009 he waived his right to a preliminary hearing and is free on $25,000 unsecured bail.[35]

I remember there being, on FR, accusations of this type if behavior, when Ritter did his ‘180’ on WMD in Iraq, but nothing was ever made public. Now I wonder if he weren’t being blackmailed by someone, to do his public excoriation of the Bush Administration, using these activities as the threat.
