PHOTOS: Earthquake hits Haiti
(Excerpt) Read more at latimes.com ...
Notice how new and crisp it appears for the camera?...
There were a lot of ON SCENE reporters in New Orleans at the STADIUM that made some pretty horrific (and untrue) reports as well.
Does anyone here in the US understand what a 7.0 followed by 30 or more aftershocks is even like?
Hell yes I do. I was in San Francisco when the quake of 89 hit. Where were you??
It’s not a question of “believing” everything one reads or sees. But rather basing a post on a reporter’s point of view. Don’t we do that all the time? Otherwise, we should all double-check, verify, and conduct a factual trial before we make any postings.
That’s all fine and dandy theory. It was reported yesterday that people were taking electronics along with the food and water.
Exactly, take everything the MSM says with a grain of salt.
Their job is to sensationalize the news for ratings.
one still photo captures only an instant in time
none of us here can “know” what was happening before or after that photo was taken
It was the LA Times and/or the photographer or someone associated with the publication of that photo who gave the world the “looter” caption
maybe it was made up out of thin air, maybe not..... maybe we will know more later maybe not (about that specific scene)
but we DO know that it was not anyone on FR who gave the photo the “looter” caption -— it was the very liberal media
all we “know” right now is that (1) the LA Times is reponsible for the assertion that a store was being looted and that the guy in the Obama t-shirt was taking part as a “looter” (2) there is no evidence whatsoever in the photo of any food or water being secured on the scene... (3) so it is at least quite plausible to suspect that the photographer saw many other kinds of items being “looted” from the store...... items that were/are unrelated to survival??
b/c it is d——d difficult to believe that liberal editors and photographers for the LA Times go around terming people “looters” who are desperately securing water, food and baby formula
maybe the LA Times liberals blew this one, or maybe the caption is a good characterization of what was going on before and after the photo was snapped, maybe just beyond frame etc.
one thing we do know is that the original use of the word “looter” in relation to the Obama-guy in this photo came from the MSM and not from anyone on this thread
Thought it was a little insensitive
But the UN sucks
Thanks for the chuckle though...
If it weren't for our Congressmen and Senators stealing the taxpayers blind, there would be no homeless or starving people in the United States.
Maybe that’s what he looted? Or it was a recent donation that came in with some missionaries. Probably lots of 0bama Commemorative plates being used as dishware in impoverished nations too. lol
I cannot criticize your post. You and I do not know the circumstances this photo captures.
The caption stands.
If I were there, I would never call someone trying to get food, water, shelter, toilet paper, diapers, medicine, etc... a looter. Somebody taking watches or TVs, they are looting.
Considering that most of these folks were covered with clouds of dust from crumbling buildings, he probably had to borrow that shirt from ANDERSON COOPER.
Not as bad as Obama’s looting of our money.
Now that’s funny. He’ll probably want it back too.
LOL!
As far away as I could get.
The quake in SF was a 7.0 yes, but it last 10-15 seconds. It wasn't followed by 30 or more aftershocks in the 3.0 - 5.0+ range.
It killed 60+ people and injured around 4000.
It was minor in comparison to the deaths in Haiti.
PLUS, there was help on the way, and people KNEW help was on the way from the whole nation.
I don't think the two situations really compare.
“First off, theres no indication hes looting.”
He is just going by the LA Times Caption. If he is not part of the looting blame the LA Times not the FR poster of this story.
I can’t remember a time when I trusted the LA Times for anything and I don’t intend to start now.
After a calamity like this many more, possibly thousands, will die due to lack of water and sanitation. If I’m caught in a similar circumstance I’m putting a rock through the nearest standing structure to see what can be scrounged.
Perfect!
