Yes but this wasn't a terrorist attack. According to a liberal friend this was caused by global warming. Really.

I guess I’m kind of surprised that it’s taken them so long to make this announcement. 5,550 is a huge number.

Why are they not allowing anymore US rescue teams in to Haiti? I’m sure that many families would like to have closure, one way of the other..

>>> Yes but whats your point?

Media attention and lack of criticism of the administration for not doing more to save some of those lives.

I find that number very hard to believe. But if they’re there, they are no doubt CIA spies looking to steal Haitian atomic secrets.

That’s reason enough for us to be there, but what is being done to find/rescue them? Apparently, not very much from what I’ve seen.

I find that number very hard to believe.

The scope of this tragedy is hard to imagine.

We lost 3000 on 9/11

They lost as many as 200,000 to 500,000 all in one relatively small area.

Reports said that there were 45,000 Americans there. 5500 would be what, one eighth of that number?

Nobody knows for sure but it could be accurate.

I have yet to see our press, wandering around in their Banana Republic safari shirts taking photo ops of orphans looters and bodies, cover a single American- Govt directed operation focused on finding, rescuing and evacuating Americans. Instead we have C-130’s flying plane loads of Haitians to Orlando. Anyone seen the US ambassador to Haiti directing SAR, recovery, or NEO for Americans?

Private groups seem to be scratching up their own rescue resources and finding their own people, on their own.

Those trapped Americans, after 7 days under rubble, are almost certainly dead.

"I find that number very hard to believe"

Actually, I don't. The article says - as have some others - that there were in excess of 45,000 Americans in Haiti when the quake struck. 5,500 is only 12% of the total American population that was living or visiting Haiti. Given the scope of the destruction, I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that 5,500 people out of 45,000 are missing. I'm sure not all of those will be dead. But, I imagine a sizable number will be either dead or seriously injured.

While many of these Americans were visiting family or living where their dollar went farther, as substantial number were “doing God’s work” as missionaries and faith based social workers. Regardless, they and their families need our help. The Marxists will only want to help the “poor” and we should not fall into a similar trap but help those who need help.

That’s not fair to say. You are not seeing all that is being done.
