Democrats coalesce around plan to push Senate health-care bill through House in 15 days

Democrats were coalescing Tuesday around a plan to force the Senate’s version of health-care reform through the House if Republican Scott Brown wins the Massachusetts Senate seat.

“The Senate bill clearly is better than nothing,” said House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Maryland Democrat, to reporters at the Capitol.

Hoyer said it would be feasible to pass the health-care bill through the Congress in the next 15 days, which is how much time it might take to seat Brown if he defeats Democrat Martha Coakley in Tuesday’s special election.

Hoyer did not say specifically that Democrats in Congress intended to take the Senate bill and pass it through the House without any changes, but knowledgeable Democrats said that is the most likely path forward for them.

President Obama’s State of the Union speech, once imagined as the moment when Democrats would celebrate the passage or imminent passage of health care, now will be used as a rallying point to calm skittish Democrats who will fear that voting for health care could be signing their own political death warrants, one source close to the administration said.

I was afraid of this. If Brown wins decisively, it will become very difficult for the Senate not to seat him immediately, as is the tradition.

If Brown wins decisively RATS in the House will be jumping ship faster than Hoyer can count.

They just don’t care about what the people want. They don’t even care about their careers.

Glenn Beck said this morning on his radio show that Saul Alinsky says to “accelerate when surrounded” and the Dems who want to back off will be targeted for destruction by the Progressive machine.

It shows that the Democratic Party IS NOT A POLITICAL PARTY.

It is a criminal mob, which poses as a political party as long as it can engineer political victories.

The pubbies in the Senate and House should stop participating in the pretense that the Democrats are a political party. They need to break the spell by screaming, throwing chairs, getting canes and beating Democrats, etc. They need to walk out and announce that the Democrats have staged a revolution.

I would love to see just enough Dems switch parties to cost Pelosi her leadership position. Heck the Moderate Dems have nothing to lose at this point.

So Bart Stupak would roll over and accept Senate abortion funding language he wouldn’t accept in the House version?

It only takes a couple of pro-life dems in the House to defeat this. They’re down to 218 Dems in support and 1 Repub (Cao), and he will probably drop off.

I can see the 2010 campaign slogans and platforms now...”Vote for me and I will repeal Obamacare” mix that with an outraged citizenry ... what a magic formula that will be. Landslide victories across the country. Heck I might just run. Should be an easy win.

I bet Pelosi had votes in reserve when ZeroCare originally passed the House.

OMG, lots of RAT neurons are misfiring. This is beyond stupid. Instead of handing out lab coats at the WH they should be handing out straighjackets.

"We need only three defectors to rescue America from obamascare."

Remember, Robert Wexler is no longer in the Congress. He quit effective January 1st. The seat is still unfilled, even though it's in a safely Democrat district.

I also don't think Cao (in New Orleans) will vote for the bill if it contains the Senate abortion language. And then, there's Stupak, who has promised he wouldn't vote for the Senate bill. IOW, the Democrats have some problems and they may not only be short in the Senate, but they may not have the votes in the House anymore.

The Senate has already passed the health care bill.

They need only 51 votes now.

If I am not mistaken.

This is a message sent. Doubtful it will be a message received.

It will be ignored at the peril of the maoists.

If you use the term “career” loosely supposedly the Triumvariate of Pelosi, Reid and Zero have been promising vulnerable Congressman cushy post-political jobs if they commit political suicide.

:chuckle: Just the thought of Nancy Pelosi’s tongue frozen to a flag pole is enough to send a tingle up my leg.
