…Members of Congress who have towns whose voters went for Scott Brown are in red; Barney Frank (who is blessed with a Boston district) is in blue. They’re all Democrats, so no need to distinguish there.
Interesting, huh? And it makes me want to ask a couple of questions:
1.How do the people on that list really feel about the current health care bill in the Senate? More importantly, how do they think that their constituents feel about it?
2.Do they really think that it’s appropriate for Senators Schumer (D-NY) and Kerry (D-MA) to use crude sexual imagery when referring to their constituents? Particularly the ones that are really, really motivated to vote?
I think that these are questions that really should be answered. Soon.

The Tea Party is doing a better job of ID-ing potential candidates than the “Pubbies”.

Now if only they could do something about the STATE legislature (which has been Dem so long, the positions might as well be hereditary). The Mass election in Nov will be interesting, especially if we can gin up some Scottian republicans to run in all those red districts. Mass had an incredible tech sector at one time, and a huge advantage with the big harbor and major intl airport it has. With some sane leadership, Mass could become an economic powerhouse again, and turn the rest of New England red as well. Heck, I’d even move back if that happened (sorry, burned too bad to go until after the election).

Coakley is from North Adams and a graduate of Williams College in Williamstown, a 70%+ liberal cesspool. That explains the NE Corner....I don't know about the rest....
I can. Hampshire county (the bunch of blue towns just west of Worcester) is dominated by a huge population of academics. There are several major colleges there (UMass flagship campus; almost-ivy Amherst college, ultralib Hampshire college, Smith womens’ college and Mount Holyoke womens’ college), and the area is also a magnet (as is Provincetown out on the cape) for homosexuals.
Just to the North, Franklin county is home to the overflow from Hampshire, as well as the city of Greenfield, which is a depressed area and has a large welfare roll. Further, much of Western Franklin county is peppered by former Hampshire academics who wanted places in the country. Finally, the far West is Berkshire county, which is a haven for the really rich, elite Libs, in towns like Lenox (where Tanglewood is), North Adams, and Stockbridge. Academic libs have way too much time on their hands, and the welfare crowd has nothing but time (and is easily led by the academic bunch), so they turn out much more heavily than the few conservatives in that region (who are slaving to try to keep their jobs in the face of Mass’s high unemployment, and therefore have less time to get to the polls).
I’m not from MA, but I do remember Alice’s Restaurant, which was in Stockbridge, MA, just about into NY it was so far west. Not sure whether 40 years on would make the place less radical, but I suspect it is much like Bolinas CA: weird back in the 60’s and now interplanetary.

Barney’s district runs from west of Boston (Brrokline/Newton down to New Bedford. Boston is in Steve Lynch’s district. Lynch, Capuano, and Olver seem safe. Barney may have a race on his hands if the R’s come up with a decent candidate. Delahunt (the south shore out to the cape) and Jim McGovern (Worcseter south to the RI line) seem the most vulnerable.
Earl Sholley is running against Barney Frank. Earl is a
true conservative and we have a chance for Earl to be another Scott Brown.

Hear, hear! The best candidates are self-selected conservatives. The RNC is actually an obstacle they must overcome.
