That's a very good summary of what's really going on here!
Somehow I really doubt that conservatives support surrendering the legislative authority of the Congress to an 18 member panel appointed by obama, who is finding even one party democrat majority rule a way too troublesome and slow means of ruling the people

Before reducing benefits that taxpayers have paid into for years, why not eliminate entire Departments in the Federal government ?
Education, Energy, Agriculture, HHS, anything that is not stipulated in the Constitution should get the Axe.
And BTW, let's bring home the troops in Europe.
Sixty five years is enough protection, and the money spent by Armed Forces will recirculate here instead of Europe.

You dont think George Soros has a direct line to Obamas blackberry? I do, but the media has no interest in discovering who does.

It's a Berry-of-Color or African-Americanberry.
It also has an app for downloading a Negro dialect in a clean, articulate format.

They also continually found ways to let people who never paid in to social security to draw it -further undermining the system. Chief among these are legal immigrants who bring their elderly parents here, and get them installed in Senior housing and SSI, when they never spent a day in their lives paying US taxes.
This is where the cuts should be made; sponsors of immigrants are supposed to be responsible for the family memebers that they sponsor, not the taxpayers.

Finally, why does anyone think that a Commission created by Obama will propose solving the entitlement solvency problem by cutting entitlements rather than raising taxes. There will probably be some cosmetic cuts, but the primary recomendations will be to raise taxes and means test Social Security and Medicare. It will probably also recommend imposing FICA taxes on passive income, including IRA withdrawals.

This will be blamed on the conservatives and used against them. People will be dumb enough to believe it.Gives the very faint appearance of bipartisan (tho the article itself was all liberal pap), so during their August recess buying votes the libs can show 'serious progress' in deficit cutting doesn't it! Could also be a vain attempt to head the Tea Partiers off at the pass....note to self

This panel is nothing more that a way to get the republicans to sign on to a tax increase. Hope they are smart enough to stay away from it.bingo

Universal Voter Registration bill proposed by Chunk Schumer and Barney Flank.

He has already cost those nasty old Senior Citizens on Social Security any cost of living increases to their monthly check. This from the same bunch of thieves that advised that we should “take advantage of Social Security and Medicare, after all congress has passed this law to help you”. So we believed that BS from the Democrats and we are being tossed under the bus by the Democrats. Figures, don’t it.

Answer. When you have thousands of old folks relying of a government plan to provide old age support, it is committed to keep it going. If the plan is to terminate it Congress should (grandfather) all seniors now dependent on Medicare and Social Security, after all, we have invested a lifetime of money in a Government sponsored support plan. When we all are in Boot Hill our government can do what it wants, providing you will let it.

I wonder if Obama realizes that the WWI veterans, who had been promised a bonus, marched on Washington and demanded the government comply. General Douglas Macarthur and troops were sent to prevent any violence, it resulted in a standoff. But in the end the Government did pay up.

I agree. Those of us born after WWII are going to get the shaft. We’ve paid in an enormous amount of taxes and will be left holding an empty bag. It makes me angry, but I wouldn’t want to burden my children and grandchildren with the taxes it would take to keep this Ponzi scheme going, so we are just going to have to accept it.
I don’t want to hear any more crap about the selfish Boomers, though. We paid for the party and don’t even get any snacks.
To: <1/1,000,000th%
For years, the social security system has taken in more money than it needed. The excess was supposed to be placed in a trust fund to use when the baby boomers started to retire.
Congress repeatedly raided the trust fund and spent it, leaving an IOU. Senior citizens tend to vote more than other groups, and their numbers will grow. This ponzi scheme is about to implode, and the democrats will loose their support.
That is one more reason why they are so anxious to give citizenship to 12 million illegals, and throw granny under the bus at the same time.
