Most of us have heard that the US government and private charities plan to import thousands of Haitian orphans to America. Has America gone crazy? For years, we have been told of the large number of American children (many of whom are minorities) who are in foster care, and in institutions, who cannot get families to adopt them. There is also a large number of American children (mainly teenagers) who sleep in the streets, and do not have the support of foster homes or insitutions. There are also many homeless people in America, who cannot find beds in overcrowded homeless shelters, because they lost their jobs in this failing economy. America is also groaning under the burden of providing over 20 million illegal immigrants with healthcare, welfare benefits, and education for their kids. Why can't America take care of the needs of people living in America first, before diverting resources to Haiti? Why do Americans (such as Madonna and Angelina Jolie) find it so fashionable to adopt kids from the thirdworld, when there are many American kids who do not have homes?
According to media reports, Haiti had 10,000 Western charities working in the country, before the earthquake struck. It is these charities which kept many people fed and provided with healthcare, and allowed them to breed and increase their population irresponsibly, to 9.7 million people in that overcrowded country. Now, the number of charities may double in number to 20,000, and will provide free food and free healthcare, that will allow even more irresponsible breeding. Have Americans learnt nothing from the failed welfare experiments of the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, which destroyed America's inner cities, and subsidized the breeding of large numbers of illegitimate ghetto children?
What if America faces a natural disaster? How many foreign nations will volunteer to come and help Americans in their time of need? How many foreign countries came to help America during the Hurricane Katrina disaster? How many countries have helped America recover from the numerous hurricane disasters of the past?
But, amazingly, homelessness was far more common among whites, than it was among blacks. Why was that the case? Because black Americans had a very strong extended family structure, and a very strong sense of community that was centered around the black churches. In those days, blacks were like the Hispanics of today, in that large numbers of people of the same family could share one house. This eased the problem of rent payment, because there were many working adults who could contribute to the rent, and to the living expenses of the house. When many adults live in one house, they are forced to set up rules, and hold each other responsible in contributing to the upkeep of the house.
This strong extended family structure was destroyed by the welfare system in the 1960s and 1970s, when many blacks stopped relying on their family members, and started relying on the government for support. If an 18 year old girl became pregnant, she no longer had to live with her mother, because the government could provide her with a free apartment of her own, and a welfare check. As long as she lived with her mother, she could be reprimanded for her behavior, and not have another out-of-wedlock pregnancy. But when she was given her own apartment at 18, and the government rewarded her for having more babies, she was free to have as many babies as she wanted.
The poverty of Haitians today, is roughly comparable to the poverty of black Americans in the middle of the Great Depression in the 1930s. The orphans of Haiti should get help from members of their extended families. They can also be helped by members of the Haitian elite, who are reputed to be very wealthy. Americans should not be sending either federal money or private donations to Haiti, because we risk expanding the welfare bureaucracy that is represented by the 10,000 charities that existed in Haiti before the earthquake. Rather, we should encourage the Haitian government to promote economic freedom, that would allow 10,000 small businesses to be established in Haiti. Those businesses will do more for the Haitians than the charities.
A waste of our time, money and lives.

Groups like ‘Doctors Without Borders’ are worthwhile because they use the money to imediately care for the injured.. Nothing goes to the corrupt Govt. of Haiti (I hope)!
Foreign aid to U.S. for Katrina relief.I remember reading somewhere that a lot of it went unclaimed. And the tinfoilers were apoplectic about the Mexican military coming over.
Our Govt. giving money to corrupt Govt’s helps no one except the Dictators who then use the money to control their people and keep them poor.
..considering we have pour $2.3 billion into Haiti in twenty years with no result....no it won’t help, the money disappears quicker then if Bubba Clin.....?????..hey wait a minute?

I think in a time of catastrophe it’s only human to help your fellow man. But, for the long term the money we’re pouring into Haiti won’t help. The only thing that will get them out of their hole is a cultural change. Without a drastic change in values their status won’t change - in fact more help will only sink them further into their miseries.
There are many leading blacks in Africa that detest the help from the west because they realize it’s a drug.
We need to “teach them how to fish.”
If you do a favor for someone they thank you if you do it a second time they give it to you ..

Sometimes they have to use a little grease to get more supplies in, but for the most part, it’s the best way to go.

a) a rapid response ( to his mind,Imperialistic)military response that would have secured Port au Prince and delivered immediate military security and aid within 48 hours.
b) the kumbayah UN aid model with a conglomeration of aid agencies that will fight with the US military rather that
deliver stockpiled aid, AKA, the UN AID GOAT F_CK ( UNAGF).The UNAGF lines the pockets of crooks and organized crime in any country it “helps.”The people mostly starve and the aid agencies do mock protests about the barbaric nature of the testosterone driven natives, while simultaneously denigrating and interfering with military assistance.
Guess which model of aid Obama chose? Buahahahahahahahah!

Temporary Protected Status - Haiti
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary, Janet Napolitano, has determined that an 18-month designation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti is warranted because of the devastating earthquake and aftershocks which occurred on January 12, 2010. As a result, Haitians in the United States (and other individuals without nationality who last habitually resided in Haiti) are unable to return safely to their country. DHS will continue to work with other branches of the United States Government to closely monitor developments in Haiti to determine the need for additional action.
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will efficiently and timely process immigration applications** for TPS filed by nationals of Haiti. Further detailed information will be posted in the Federal Register Notice announcing the Secretary’s decision to designate Haiti. DHS estimates that approximately 100,000 to 200,000 individuals will be eligible for TPS.

BUT – BUT AMERICA AND AMERICANS ARE SO “UNREMARKABLE!”
The hearts and prayers of Americans always go out to those who suffer catastrophic events. Haiti is but the most recent example. American people and treasure are already flowing into that sad place, made sadder still by this earthquake.
Of course, as Barack Obama spent his first year in office reminding the entire world, America is just like all the other nations out there and we are a most “unremarkable” people.
I’d remind him that the wealth which we are now about to pour into Haiti is the result of the superior and productive political and economic system left us by some wise and far-sighted men over 240 years ago. How sad that Obama is well on the way to destroying it. Obama and his not so merry band of Chicago thugs need to ask themselves from where that wealth now flowing into Haiti will come when they complete their sought after destruction of the unique American system?
The persistent poverty in places like Haiti is a product of the inferior systems the people of far too many of those nations continue to tolerate. I don’t know much about the human beings at the top of the current Haitian food chain but situations of this sort have, in the past, caused a huge surge in the quantity of numbered accounts in Swiss banks. I hope that doesn’t happen in this situation. If it should, I hope the decent members of the Haitian population conduct public hangings of those involved.
As one commentator recently remarked, Haiti could easily join the other wealthy tourist spots in the Caribbean were it not for their unfortunate inability to move out of the 18th century.
If any good can come from this disaster, perhaps it will be that they will reexamine their social and economic “model” and rebuild their homeland in ways that will permit ALL of their citizens to participate and prosper.
Yeah, and teach them how to turn all their trees into charcoal too.
