Jaber A. Elbaneh is wanted in connection with a federal criminal complaint unsealed on May 21, 2003, in the Western District of New York, Buffalo, New York. He is charged with providing material support to a terrorist organization and conspiring to provide material support, specifically to Al-Qaeda.
Elbaneh is believed to have fled the United States and is still thought to be outside the country.
REWARD
The Rewards For Justice Program, United States Department of State, is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to the arrest of Jaber A. Elbaneh.

MAY 21?, 2007 MON : (YEMEN : LACKAWANNA CELL’S JABER A ELBANEH SURRENDERS AFTER ESCAPING YEMENI PRISON MORE THAN 1 YR AGO ) One of the FBI’s most-sought terrorism suspects has surrendered to authorities in Yemen, more than a year after tunneling out of a prison there, a spokesman for the Yemeni Embassy said Monday. ... Mohammed Albasha, a spokesman for the Yemeni Embassy in Washington, said in an e-mail to The Associated Press that Elbaneh had surrendered. “He is in our custody and this is a big break through in the case of his prison break last year,” Albasha wrote in the e-mail.
The FBI could not confirm that Elbaneh was in custody. “We certainly do hope he is caught,” FBI spokesman Richard Kolko said Monday. -—— Yemen Says Terror Suspect Is Captured
