Supreme Court Drop-Kicks McCain/Feingold, Scores Victory for 1st Amendment. Obama preparing ‘Forceful Response’

Fans of the First Amendment can rejoice.

In a 5-4 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court today struck down large portions of the abomination known as the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law, especially those aspects of the law that imposed restrictions on corporate spending on political issues.

From The New York Times:

WASHINGTON — Sweeping aside a century-old understanding and overruling two important precedents, a bitterly divided Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that the government may not ban political spending by corporations in candidate elections.

The ruling was a vindication, the majority said, of the First Amendment’s most basic free speech principle — that the government has no business regulating political speech. The dissenters said allowing corporate money to flood the political marketplace will corrupt democracy.

“If the First Amendment has any force,” Justice Anthony M. Kennedy wrote for the majority, which included the four members of its conservative wing, “it prohibits Congress from fining or jailing citizens, or associations of citizens, for simply engaging in political speech.”

God is shining His face on us once again. the hand of God saved a nation last night. Now this!!!

To be honest I'm not well versed on the bill. I know that Soros funded it, and as a result of it, we ended up with Obama. The bill is rotten to the core.

2001, when McCain founded the Reform Institute for Campaign and Election Issues, which is a 501(c), we see that organization was funded in most part by Soros either directly though his Open Society Institute, or other organizations that receive Soros funding. We see the beginning of the so-called campaign finance reform, which has nothing to do with reform. It is a muzzle on our constitutional freedom of speech, and for some reason was followed by unprecedented amounts of political contributions to politicians and to the 527’s tax exempt groups, which made it virtually impossible to “follow the money”.

God works in mysterious ways!!! God is good. Thank you.

Obama may suspend the 1st Amendment because of the competative threat against the mafia and the Chicago machine.

I see Obama is working on a “forceful response” to the Constitution. That should be interesting.

I have to wonder what the Dems have planned since Obama has spoken out today and Shumer has called for hearings. They may try to reinstate restrictions but I don’t see how they can do much given the SC ruling. It will be interesting to watch. Glad McCain got handed his ass though. George Will had it right when he said the bill was unconstitutional a few years ago. I bet we see an Op Ed from him soon.

I despise Obama precisely because I knew he would oppose this ruling. Instead of saying, “the Constitution prohibits this sort of restriction, so I won’t try to do that any more,” his response is more of a “well, let’s get to work finding a way around the Constitution.”

Coulter said the Bill resulted in Billionaires to electing the candidates. www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8PS6574R0E

Soros had/has them all in his pocket. It didn't matter who won.

He’s either a very sick or very evil man. Maybe both? Why does he hate the Constitution so much, which is strange for someone who is supposed to be a constitutional lawyer! I don’t get it. What planet is this guy on?

Obama preparing ‘Forceful Response’...?

Is it going to somehow remove that pesky constitutional “separate but equal branches of government” thingy?

Good gravy, that excerpt from the NYT is a crash course in media bias. That is slanted “journalism” at its most obvious.

The reader has no doubt what the writer thinks about this ruling.

The problem isn't simply Oblablabla. The BIG problem is Soros and his Billions from dubious sources, stashed away in the Cayman Islands.

Billions of dollars in the hands of a Master Influence Peddler, along with a naive, and complacent nation, has caused all of this.

The media calls the convict wanted in France, "A Philanthropist". He's got the DEA passing out marijuana joints!

200 days into the Obama administration, and 16 years after Soros began his advocacy for drug legalization and promoting "medical marijuana," Obama's accomplishments include venturing into the marijuana cigarettes production and distribution.
