No More Jesus Rifles
ABC News ^ | LUIS MARTINEZ, JOSEPH RHEE and MARK SCHONE

Trijicon, the gunsight maker that has imprinted Bible verse numbers on its scopes, has announced that it will no longer imprint the verses on the sides of scopes intended for the U.S. military, and will also provide clients with the kits to remove the Bible verse numbers from existing scopes.

An ABC News report earlier this week revealed that the Michigan-based company, which has a contract to provide up to 800,000 scopes to the U.S. military, prints references to New Testament chapters and verses in code next to the model numbers of its scopes. The scopes are used by the U.S. Marine Corps and Army in Iraq and Afghanistan, and by U.S. allies in those countries, and for the training of Afghan and Iraqi troops.

"Trijicon has proudly served the U.S. military for more than two decades, and our decision to offer to voluntarily remove these references is both prudent and appropriate," said Stephen Bindon, Trijicon president and CEO in a statement. "We want to thank the Department of Defense for the opportunity to work with them and will move as quickly as possible to provide the modification kits for deployment overseas."

Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell said the Department of Defense "applauds the voluntary actions announced today by Trijicon."

Morrell said the coded Bible reference were clearly inappropriate. Said Morrell, "It is not the policy of the Department of Defense to put religious references of any kind on its equipment."

Earlier today, Gen. David Petraeus, who commands CentCom, which oversees U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, told a D.C. thinktank that the company's practice was "disturbing …and a serious concern for me" and field commanders. He said there had been considerable discussions within the Department of Defense about how to deal with Trijicon's practice.

This thing is like a Jesus rifle. No working prototype (yet), but it's pretty beastly.

1014HL. 10=J. 14=N. H=8. L=12. Simple substitution. And the anti-American pukes wouldn’t be the wiser. And the ones that count would know.

Jesus rifles? What idiot thought up that phrase?

I agree. I think Trijicon should go with versus from the Koran. They are much more motivating:

Qur’an (2:216) - “Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.”

Qur’an (8:12) - “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them”

Qur’an (9:30) - “And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!”

Qur’an (9:73) - “O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the destination.”

Qur’an (47:4) - “So when you meet in battle those who disbelieve, then smite the necks until when you have overcome them, then make (them) prisoners,”

Qur’an (66:9) - “O Prophet! Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be stern with them. Hell will be their home, a hapless journey’s end.”

I saw this earlier in the week over at the DUmp. The DUmmies were going crazy about it (not that they aren’t already crazy), and I figured the verses on the weapons would not last.

There are doubtless people who saw benefit in having those biblical references around. Maybe the company can encrypt them in a long, long product id number. Find that, suckas.

With custom-made integrated circuits, the design team usually puts some "ego" item in unused space on the substrate in celebration. It could be the names of the team members, a cartoon, or maybe even a citation from the Bible!!!. How can we guarantee to the mooslims that there is nothing hidden a JDAM guidance circuit, for example, that might offend them?

Even if you had an electron microscope, you can't open up the packaging without destroying the device. CAIR is just going to have to take our word on the matter that we're trying to kill these islamic terrorists with these weapons, but we certainly wouldn't want to offend them. But nobody has any way of knowing if these "offensive weapons" are out there, or if they ever existed in the first place.

Meanwhile, I expect there will be a new military bureaucracy set up to actually make sure that defacing these tens of thousands of sights gets done, and none are overlooked. Either support people will go out into the field, and track every scope down, or it will have to be done at some depot when the troops are moving in or out of country. Will Carl Levin, in the course of hearings, provide extra budget money for this? What islamic group should receive these reports? Will Levin personally guarantee that each sight will be found, defaced, and the database updated? Will all specs for future procurement of any weapons (not just weapons, but anything the federal government buys, including pork products) be certified as "non-offensive".

In the end, this will cost the taxpayer perhaps tens of millions of dollars in addition to the humiliation The One accepted on behalf of the entire country. For a regime that readily denigrates much of the American citizenry, this will do more harm to American than all the bowing and scraping 0bama has done to all the tyrants and louts around the world so far.

This was such a non-story from the beginning. The REAL story is the secular left’s hypersensitive revulsion to Christianity.

“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself.

He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter. He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:

KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”

(Revelations 19:11-16)

verses in code

It's not code. It's the standard 2 letter bible book abbreviation system. Saying Jn8:32 is not code. Anyone want to guess what Jn3:16 is? Now try Ge4:11

These scopes might be very collectable.

I’ve been looking for regular issue military gear with religious inscriptions and can’t find any. Thought there might have been some during the Civil War.

Anyone know if our military ever issued weapons, buckles, buttons etc with religious themes? I’m speaking of regular issue. Not voluntary or items associated with Chaplains and religious services.

One to write the story, one to read it and the other to keep an eye out for anything that might offend Muslims.
For a so call warrior religion, they are whiny little bitches.

“”It’s wrong, it violates the Constitution, it violates a number of federal laws,” said Michael “Mikey” Weinstein of the “ [Leftist Atheist Fags Foundation, LAFF]

If you think that some imprints that noone ever sees establish a state religion, Weiner, then you are a dangerously imbalanced individual and should be tested for whatever problem you are having with your brain. Then when it is found that you are having brain difficulties, you should be removed from the roll of eligible voters.
