Glenn Beck Apologizes To Scott Brown, Sort Of
HotAir.com ^ | January 23, 2010 | ALLAHPUNDIT

Two clips via the indefatigable Right Scoop, the first from Beck’s appearance on Jay Severin’s radio show this afternoon and the second from his own show earlier in the day. He’s not sorry for the jokes about the dead intern or Brown having to wear a chastity belt — nor should he be, as I said in my first post about this — but he is sorry for making a big deal in the first flush of victory about Brown’s own joke on his daughters on election night. Good enough. The only thing left unanswered: Why he thought Brown’s joke was so inappropriate in the first place. The second clip is basically eight minutes of Beck warning his listeners not to be humorless scolds and “machine” hacks by getting on him just because he’s goofing on a Republican instead of a Democrat, but … that wasn’t the problem with what he said. The problem is that he mocked Brown for what was to most people, I think, actually an endearingly human moment at the podium.

I regard Glen Beck as I would regard a beloved family member who sometimes goes off his meds -—

Beck is not always right in his conclusions.

I trust Beck on issues of fact, but on issues of opinion or stragegy?

Not so much.

I listened to this live on WTKK, and Glenn Beck really came off as being sleazy. I don’t watch his tv show as much as I used to either.

Beck must have (rightfully) received a ton of heat on this. Well, nuff sed, time to move forward.

Beck said he was being “pressured” a few months back.

If they got to him, would he announce it?

Or would he simply start acting differently?

I like Glenn Beck, I think has done some really good reporting and investigating into the czars, etc. I think because he has seen so much going on behind the scenes that he is wary of all politicians. I know I have become cynical over the last several years. I hate that he said what he did about Brown, it was uncalled for, however I don’t think we should be throwing him under the bus for an error in judgement. We all make them, his was just more public. Hopefully this will pass soon because we need every foot soldier we can get in this battle to keep our God given freedoms.

I’ve notice Beck really runs a tight well produced TV show, but I can’t say that for his radio show. I thought his attention to Brown’s daughter comments first thing out of the chute were a long drawn out waste of time. His comments about Brown and interns were totally out of line.

Beck is not a big enough man to give a complete apology.

Pity.

If you read my posts I am very critical of Becks end game which sometimes involves a third party which in my opinion will result in defeat vs conservatives taking back our party.

I have to say for Brown not to just move on and to comment on Becks joke while this country is faced with so many urgent problems of a tyrannical government.

Beck is right on this one I dont think he needed to apologize I think Brown should not take himself so seriously something that seems to be a problem with most Senators

Beck has come a long way from his days as a mean drunk--lot of AA and therapy and all that, but there are still too many moments when his inner asshole comes out. He's still playing solitaire with a deck of 51.

I saw a repeat of Brown’s speech and his comments about his girls.

The daughter in question did not move away from her dad, altho clearly embarrassed, but moved towards him and put her head on his shoulder.

That told me all I needed to know about the love that family has for each other.

I am embarrassed for Beck that such ugly thoughts even entered his mind.

Big Beck fan, but when he went out of his way to somehow say Brown’s teasing of his daughters during the celebration after the results were in was inappropriate... I thought “Glenn...shut up and let the guy have some fun”.

I know that Brown has a sexually adventurous past - but who really cares? That was a pretty long time ago and he wasn’t trying to hide it or anything. Glenn has a past too. So WTF Glenn? Get off your high horse and ride along side another honest human being. Isn’t honesty the most important thing?

Yeah I saw an interview with that daughter and she said as much. Why on earth Beck spent more than a funny minute on this annoying at the time. I really think Beck needs to tighten up the show outline for his radio show to keep it on a meaningful tract. He wings it too much on radio.

I didn’t think Glenn Beck had his finest moment a week or two ago with the Palin interview and some of the comments he made before and after it. But it was obvious he was suffering from a cold or the flu and wasn’t 100%.

As someone who has had one hell of a virus the last few weeks I will give Beck the benefit of the doubt for now about his comments.

We can’t be brilliant all the time, he is having an off period most likely caused by being sick.

The radio show is unlistenable (is that a word) he and his sidekick talk over each other. The other guy thinks it’s his show. Their banter is insider schtick that leaves me with a headache.

I had the radio on that morning when he went into his attack on Brown. CLICK

Sent him an email letting him know of my displeasure and haven’t listened to his radio program since.

Last night my husband turned on his show about the Revolutionary Holocaust and it was so affecting we kept it on.

That said, I am deeply disappointed in Beck. Thought his comment about maybe not trusting Sarah Palin was ridiculous. Who is he to be judging everyone else!

The problem is that Beck won’t admit to that err of judgement. I had a problem with what he said. I have more of a problem with his refusal to acknowledge it was wrong, not a joke and just be a man and apologize. That’s what is stopping people from moving on.

Exactly. Besides the fact I tire of the sound of his voice droning on and spewing endless platitudes, e.g. founding fathers, etc He can be helpful to our cause at times but its a hard radio show to listen to. But his fatal flaw is when he says dems and Republicans are all the same and we need a 3rd party etc. That is pure nonsense.

I’ve listened to Beck for the past few years and his views are getting darker and darker and darker.

....I guess 2012 is getting close.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. If you catch his TV show the radio show is just a disappointment.
