Were (are) the Tea Parties effective or what?
Vanity | Jan 25, 2010 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 01/25/2010 11:55:30 AM PST by Jim Robinson

Can they hear us now?

They tried and tried to ignore us and pretend we did not exist, but they're not ignoring us now. And there's gonna be hell to pay this November. The Tea Party has declared war on the political ruling class and, IMHO, it will be an effective war.

Incumbents beware!

Just vote them out in 2010!!

Meanwhile, Chief Justice Roberts is cleaning house!!

Woo hoo!!

Rebellion is brewing!!

What say you?

Imagine if the democrats try to tackle illegal immigration this year...

ROFL

That would be like throwing lighter fluid on the Tea Party Bond fire!

I'm pleased to report that it's being spoken about openly in bars in NYC.

I was at the first Tea Party in D.C.

I’ll be at the next Tea Party in D.C.

I’ll be at the last Tea Party in D.C.

Common, vocal, published discontent for the British Crown started 70 years before the Revolution.

We’ve gotten in this mess, seriously, since the late 1880’s.

It is going to take generations. But, it’s worth it, it is the moral thing to do, it’s fun, we are here anyways.

We just have to always have fun, educate and inform ourselves, and keep at it. It is a lifes work.

I’ll be harassing them in the nursing home, and after that in Hell too!

Interesting post. Not sure how we can do that from the outside, other than to say if they still offered up Trumans and Kennedys they’d have a chance at my vote (against a McCain or Bush type).

Jim, was watching CNN late the other nite, catching up on Haiti progress & caught someone on there saying that the Tea Party movement is growing & has become very important in the elections & Dems better beware!

When you've got pundits on CNN admitting it, you can take it to the bank!

Essential. We have to keep up the momentum, the enthusiasm, the pressure, or it will all be a flash in the pan -—Wish I didn’t live so far away from D.C.

My family is from MA going back to 1639 and I grew up in Stockbridge. They all voted for Obama. I was with the few who voted for Nixon in MA in 1972.

I believe the Brown campaign shows we must elect the most conservative candidate that can win on a district by district basis, and Scott Brown exemplifies this in MA.

By the standards of some FReepers, Scott Brown is a RINO, having voted for and now refusing to denounce Romneycare or to denounce Roe v. Wade. But his victory has driven a stake into the heart of the Obama game plan.

Inescapable conclusion? RINO’s are better than Democrats.

In post-election interviews, Brown has given deep, heartfelt thanks to John McCain and Mitt Romney as well as Mitch McConnell for their encouragement and financial support at the very beginning of his effort to take on Coakley.

I have huge problems with McCain and Romney, but they are on the GOP team for most issues and candidates like them that are more centrist on social issues, like Brown, appeal to lots of Blue district citizens who might otherwise vote Democrat and retain Pelosi and Reid as leaders.

We do not want a replay of the losing 1964 Goldwater purity campaign. We need to replicate on our side to the smallest degree necessary to win the same thing Rahm did to recruit DINO’s to defeat Republicans in swing districts to give the gavel to Pelosi.

I especially want the Supreme Court nominees to be approved by a GOP controlled Senate as soon as possible even if some of them in “Blue” states are what folks call RINOs.

The chairman of our local Board of Selectmen used the term “teabaggers” to describe Scott Brown voters in a post on a local forum. I called him out on it, stating that perhaps I’d go to the televised meeting that night to inquire about it. I quickly got the following response, posted on the same forum:

“Allow me to apologize to anyone who was offended by my comment. The full comment read thus: “If I’m gonna live in a state full of dittoheads and teabaggers, I might as well move to the sunbelt...for the weather. (Wink)” The wink denotes that I am joking. For the record, (Islander-11) is one of my favorite people, Dem or Pub. The terms dittohead and teabagger are used commonly among lefties, as I’m sure that righties have some colorful ways to describe lefties. Mr. Brown earned his win yesterday. Having finally been enlightened here as to what “teabagger” actually, technically means, clearly, most of Mr. Brown’s supporters are not “teabaggers”. Actually, I’d be more insulted to be called a “dittohead”, but that’s me. I haven’t a mean bone in my body, and apologize to anyone who took offense. None was intended, but in a playful way.”

This will be revisited come election day... The moral of the story is - CALL THEM OUT! Stand up to them, be it locally, state-wide or nationally!

How doesn’t matter. Nobody knows exactly how this thing is going to work out. The Tea Party is a movement of resistance.

We don’t really have a plan.

You make your mark. You take your stand.

Democrats are just as capable of making their mark and taking a stand as anybody else. George Allen gave a great speech at a local event one time and had everyone behind his phrase, “Stand strong for freedom.” I’d say a conservative in a Democrat district running an ad with that campaign slogan would do just fine.

Rick Boucher, in my district, didn’t support the health care bill. He might have, if enough pressure was applied by Pelosi; but I think he went with the judgement of his constituents instead. He might even have had some reelection worries.

Remember... We are leaning on Democrats in the House for our hopes of killing the current Government Health Monopoly bill.

Democrats can be allies for freedom if their compassion is not redirected into socialism as their current leadership is inclined to do.

Brown won because he pledged he would be the 41st vote against ObamaCare and people realized this would effectively end Obama’s Marxist agenda. Period. Brown now has an opportunity to redeem himself in the eyes of the voters. If he follows through and votes conservatively, he will remain a Tea Party Darling and will earn his reelection. If he votes like a Big Government progressive RINO, he will be rejected next time up.

Nah. I was in a pack of over a million wolves last September. They saw us - no imagination necessary.

The success of the Tea Parties is inversely proportional to the amount of negative invective that continues to heaped on them by the marxist scum....The same holds for Sarah Palin’s success in connecting with real Americans...

It depends, it is highly unlikely we will be able to simply “vote them all out” or significantly change Washington D.C.

Ultimately power corrupts, and the politicians in Washington D.C. whether they be republican or democrat simply have too much power and have as a consequence become corrupted by that power.

It doesn’t really matter who we elect, you can’t go to Washington D.C. as a power broker without being intoxicated by that power.

Our main objective still needs to be the States to force a decentralization of power from the ground up and most importantly from out side of the corrupted Washington D.C.

We need States passing Federal escrow Tax bills like this one now being looked at in Georgia: http://www.legis.ga.gov/legis/2009_10/versions/hb877_LC_18_8555T_pf_2.htm

or this one being looked at by the Oklahoma state Legislator:
http://webserver1.lsb.state.ok.us/2009-10bills/HB/HB2810_int.rtf

Or this one in Washington State:
http://apps.leg.wa.gov/documents/billdocs/2009-10/Pdf/Bills/House%20Bills/2712.pdf
