There were big screen tvs behind the reporters instead of teleprompters.
His thug/thugettes were standing with their blackberry’s at the ready to type in the answers to questions asked by the press members.
One shot showed Emmanuel with a woman apparently telling her what to enter on her Blackberry.

You know what’s odd? In trying to cover up that he was using a telepormopter for talking with schoolkids his aides said no, no- the teleprompter is there for AFTER the kids- for when he takes questions from the press.
Weird, eh? Why would he need a teleprompter for questions from the press?

Wouldn’t it be cheaper for the taxpayer if he just wrote “I am an idiot” across his forehead in permanent marker? It would accomplish the same thing.

All politicians have canned material. That’s why (in addition to desiring never to offend anyone if they can help it) they get accused so often of circumloquity. In the teleprompter’s case, they likely insert paragraphs that more or less address the subject raised by the question, or failing that a subject that’s remotely close to the question asked, or failing that something the president really likes to talk about and is prepared to segue into at a moment’s notice.

Remember when the left used to say that about GWB? That he was plugged in through his back during debates? I think it turned out it was a bulletproof vest or something else that belonged there.
A possibilty. His handlers would have been well aware of his handicap right from the start. I recall the video from during the campaign when he stops, repeats himself, waits, then says 'I can't hear you' - I always interpreted that to mean his incoming transmission had been cut off!
Wish I could find that video again...right from the start, they couldn't let him speak without INPUT!
