New Republic: 'Barack Obama Faces a Moment Where His Presidency Just Might Collapse'
NewsBusters ^ | January 27, 2010 | P.J. Gladnick

Posted on 01/27/2010 4:39:51 AM PST by PJ-Comix

The liberal meltdown as a result of the last week's election in Massachusetts continues apace.

And the latest victim of the Bay State choosing Republican #41 for a Senate seat is the editorial staff of The New Republic. Anybody who follows The New Republic, such as your humble correspondent who has kept the NewsBusters Eye of Sauron focused on that liberal outpost knows they are a bunch of policy wonks who have spent the better part of the past year obsessed over every arcane detail of ObamaCare as well as closely following its passage in its various versions through the House and Senate. In fact the two New Republic Jonathans, Chait and Cohn, are so emotionally invested in the fate of ObamaCare, that I fear for their mental health should that legislation, as now appears likely, fails to pass.

You want an example of how depressed The New Republic has become on the topic of the Obama presidency? Well, just check out this meltdown money quote from their latest editorial:

How does this president handle a crisis? Thus far, the answer is not at all encouraging. The current crisis is the election in Massachusetts of Scott Brown, now the forty-first Republican senator. His arrival in Washington has sent Democrats into panic mode--fearful that they too will be swallowed by a seething electorate--and caused many of them to flee in the other direction from health care reform. In short, Barack Obama faces a moment where his presidency just might collapse or, rather, risks heading into a wilderness where it would accomplish next to none of its ambitious goals.

I like this one:

"Never before has a Democratic president inherited more propitious circumstances for advancing reform to fruition."

Not exactly Shakespeare, is it!

"Obama - Thrown Under The Commie Bus!"

Ya gotta love it - especially when you consider that it's a short bus, as they say.

It must really suck to be an Obambot these days - it's gonna be a long 3 years until November 2012.

Federal holiday => no mail => no bills arive that day.

Watch them spin it as “middle class debt relief”.

The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

PRESIDENCY JUST MIGHT COLLAPSE?

I don't see how.
For something to collapes it has to be erected first.
I really don't think his presidency ever got off the ground.
Sure some of the idiots that expected the chage he promised thought he was going to be great. Then the reality set in and most of them realized what we all knew from the beginning.
THAT IS: ZERO SUCKS. AND HE CAN'T COLLAPSE BECAUSE HE IS ALREADY ON THE BOTTOM. . . . . . V#537

Yep. And that moment may come tonight depending on how he appears during the SOTU message - sane or space cadet.

O’Bummer is an anti establishment polititian. When facing odds like this, I suggest that he come out mean, nasty, and with a gun pointed at his head like Black Bart in Mel Brooks’ “Blazing Saddles”:

Bart holds a gun to his own neck, shouting:

“Hold it. The next man makes a move, the #*&%! gets it...Drop it! For I swear, I’ll blow this #*&%!’s head all over this town. Oh Lordy-lord, he’s desperate. Do what he say. Do what he say.”

When he successfully holds the lynch mob at bay and is allowed safe passage out of harm’s way, he marvels at his accomplishment and congratulates himself for bluffing them: “Oh baby, you are so talented, and they are so dumb.”

Humor intended!

Never before has a Democratic president inherited more propitious circumstances for advancing reform to fruition. And, although liberals might have griped as reform plodded its way through the various fiefdoms of the Senate, a monumental bill ultimately emerged, an impressive work of consensus that survived the interest-group ringer and the annoying maneuverings of Senators Ben Nelson and Joe Lieberman. Congress was one or two perfunctory roll-call votes away from sending a bill to Obama’s desk. That’s when Brown won his upset, instantly making the distance the bill needed to travel to the president’s desk seem unbearably immense.

Nothing worse than policy wonks with a well used thesaurus.

I guarantee you that TNR is never fully read by DUmmies. They'll wait for the Clift-Notes version from the Kossacks and Huffers.

Note to TNR: When all else fails, lower your standards.

Stop expecting Obama to be your liberal Messiah and help him be a decent President. There is a lot he can do that the country might actually support. But first your side has to give up on your dreams of socialized medicine and government-controlled energy. The country simply won't go there, and all of your whining about how stupid and racist we are for not embracing your statist dreams just makes us hate you even more.

There was a point in Reagan's first term when some of his strongest supporters and near-worshippers were upset and thought he had been co-opted by the pragmatists. "Let Reagan be Reagan" and all that. But Reagan himself knew better.

A most wise passage. People need to turn off their tv’s and read. Forget about American idol on TV, read about the real ones in history books; Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Reagan, so many we’ve been blessed with..

By the patriot measure Obama's presidency already has collapsed.

Every initiative Obama has attempted bear the common mark of the diminutuion fo individual freedom. The Health Care bill has the extraordinarily egregious powers of seizure attached to it, making the law into a demographic warfare bill against America. This fact was not covered in the press.

Eric Holder months ago announced that white America was cowardly on the issue of race , after it had elected America's first black president, and were blind sided by his radical politics and tyrannical predisposition.. Since then the DOJ has acted consistently to reduce America's defenses against jihadism, while simultaneously selectively forwarding investigations into white America but not black America, a dual racist standard of Justice, nor into ACORN leftist America.. Indeed the DOJ has become the unannounced enemy of every patriotic American. America just hasn't discovered that fact.....yet.

I could go on about all the other areas where Obama has created crisis after crisis in order to reduce the freedom of corporations and the free market, but whats the use?Its all there in plain sight. Yes, Obama's presidency has already collapsed for those who are sensitive about the issues of individual freedom and civil liberty, having to face the fact that our federal government now has become an enemy of the people. So be it. We will try the ballot box first. But I can guarantee every last leftist who reads this: " America again will be free, whatever it takes. Count on it." Those who do not realize that the Obama presidency has already collapsed, do not use the measure of freedom, one that is in devolutionary retreat. They use an ideological measure of political correctness. Well maybe you RINOs and Blue dogs will wake up a little too late, with the Holder DOJ black power nationalist socialist boot heel on your necks. Surprise, surprise!

We patriots will be taking it to the neo fascist enemy while you writhe in surprised agony? What use are you then? Ask yourself!

Time to choose you RINOS and Blue Dogs. The line is in the sand. Step or stay and so be it. If you do not step , you wont be ready for when Obama goes nuclear, and therefore useless to the cause of freedom.

So, we’re in an economic tailspin with no end in sight, Americans will be in debt to the Chinese for generations, we are engaged in the epic cultural/martial struggle of our times, against a fanatical enemy who wants to kill every one of us simply because we pray to a different God, and the New Republic’s definition of a “crisis” for the White House is the election of a Republican Senator????

If we had the British parliamentary process, we could throw the bums out now.

Maybe we need a Constitutional amendment to call for a vote of confidence, at times like this.
