New curricular guidelines drafted by North Carolinas Department of Public Instruction strongly encourage students to view pro-life legislation as an example of oppressive government akin to laws that permitted segregated public schools.
According to the departments web site, all North Carolina public school students are required to take a course in civics and economics in order to graduate from high school. The draft of the revised civic and economics curriculum includes the following formative assessment prototype:
Using three Supreme Court Cases (e.g., Brown v Board, Roe v Wade, Korematsu v US) as support explain how the US Supreme Court has upheld rights against oppressive government?
Brown v Board of Education of Topeka was the 1954 Supreme Court decision that struck down laws permitting segregated schools; Roe v Wade was the 1973 decision that struck down pro-life legislation across the nation.
North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue, Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton, and Superintendent of Public Instruction June Atkinson are all advocates of legalized abortion who were endorsed by NARAL (formerly the National Abortion Rights Action League).

Ping!
This action by the school is pure Nazi-ism. Pure political brainwashing about political issues.
How about laws against armed robbery? Oppressive?

Schools could present FOR DISCUSSION the idea that babies in the womb are like slaves ... almost but not quite full persons.
The problem we have is that we focus so much on the national elections when in fact our local legislatures are at least a similar (I contend bigger) problem. Who’s watching this stuff in their home states? Answer: nobody. We need to become an involved and activist citizenry. If not we will have handed over our future to moron libtards who think their warped view of reality is normal.

This is NORTH CAROLINA!!!!!! This is probably one of the most Christian states in the Union!!
If anyone believes that this degradation is not happening in their child's school is either totally and irredeemably addicted to the free babysitting or is brain dead!
When are the righteous going to rise up and close these government school moral cesspools DOWN???
NC ping
Wintertime, you got it exactly right. Junk like this is why we homeschool in NC. I realize it's not for everybody, but when the situation gets so dire that the government schools are teaching abortion as a moral good, it's time to leave and do school some other way.
I respectfully disagree with you about NC being one of the most Christian states in the union. Too many so-called Christians in NC are Democrats. For example, Kay Hagan, who is our US Senator, taught Sunday School in a Presbyterian church. Yet, she votes with the liberal Democrats in the Senate. To me being a Christian should be take precedent over being a Democrat.

SEPARATION OF SCHOOL AND STATE!
It's so far gone - only a mass exodus of children from public screwels will work. IMO, other ideas welcome.
With komissars in charge we should expect much worse.
I was just thinking this past week that a Dalit of India could be classified as an “adult fetus”, due to their less-than-human status. Oh, the absurdity of it all. Maranatha!
